1000+ xeqt
I currently have 1008 shares of xeqt that I am planning to overlook for minimum 5 years. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Or it is better to invest in individual stocks?

USD to CDN
If CDN tethers back up to say .80 or .90 xeqt will drop significantly if I’m correct due to US stocks now being worth less against our dollar now.
Do we think the happens?

Consider holding XEQT's underlying holdings with automatic rebalancing using Questrade to save money and get the same exposure (product)
Questrade lets you specify holdings with weights, and will rebalance for you for free.
Given this, if you use Questrade and a tax-sheltered account (TFSA, FHSA, RRSP), there is no good reason to hold XEQT versus its underlying holdings (of which there are only 5-6).
This will save you 0.08% in expense ratio, which translates to ~$80 CAD per year per $100,000 invested. Additionally, the underlying holdings of XEQT are more liquid than that of XEQT.
Creating your own index and rebalancing is not currently free at Wealthsimple or other brokers that I know of.
Simultaneously, rebalancing is also not tax-free if you're holding these in an account that is not tax-sheltered (non-registered).

Older
Right now I am totally in xeqt but when I grow older should I switch to xbal and xgro. I will leave my current xeqt as it is. However I am wondering if buying bonds are good as I was in a tangerine balanced portfolio 60-40 and it went down a lot during the first couple of days of Trump's first term.
I am 43 male and just got into xeqt. I just don't know if bonds can help if world events happen or downturn. So should I keep everything in xeqt forever?

Every stock I follow is green and xeqt is red
Why is this happening? Should I panic sell?

Fucked up
I fucked up and over contributed to my FHSA. I have to sell some of my xeqt stocks.
My whole FHSA is xeqt and I have been contributing to it since last year. So ideally selling it just after a year and a bit of holding it isn't ideal. I know i cant time the market but what can I do to maximize my chance of selling it at a plus?

22M looking for guidance
I’m 22, turning 23 soon, and have some experience with short turn around single stock investing for a few thousand dollars profit when i was 18 or 19 but after an inheritance I’ve decided to start my long term growth.
I maxed out my TFSA yesterday at 40700$≈ with a 100% take in XEQT. I’m wondering what my next steps are, where do I put money next, do I diversify? My satisfaction comes from seeing the number get bigger and understand that putting more money into it is the best way to grow it, but I am still a student in college till August of 2028. I have two 4 month work periods during those times one starting in january of 2027, and january 2028. During that time I will be saving roughly 40%-50% of my income to contribute to my accounts.
I do want to know which account I should open next (RRSP or FHSA). If possible I should fill my TFSA every january? What kind of growth can I actually expect? What kind of things can I do to improve? Really any sort of guidance is appreciated, and helps me in an area I hope to improve in.

25M, after one year of JustBuyXEQT
Last October, I decided to start saving and learned about XEQT and investing. I didn't want to anymore FOMO trading so I settled with XEQT
- I started with $50 biweekly to test the waves, then it became $100, then $200, and once I hit the $4,000 I mark I went with $100 biweekly to save up in other accounts for other short-term purchases like a MacBook Pro
- I invested $1,500 during Spring from my tax refunds
I'm glad I steered away from FOMO route and stuck with something slow and long term

S&P vs Xeqt
S&P dropped 1.39% today
XEQT dropped 0.85% today
Crash/downturn is inevitable in stock market. Like an energy, money move one country to another country, but never lost. So in stock market you need to protect your capital as long as you need to get your growth. XEQT provide both upside growth and downside protection having diversification.
XEQT is the ultimate way to grow your wealth passively. Have a great weekend everyone.

Sell AAPL + META for XEQT
Hey guys,
I don't have a huge tfsa as I've been saving for a house and mainly keeping cash in my FHSA and savings at the moment (prob should just max my tfsa). I don't have ton of META or AAPL, only 2 shares of META and 7 of AAPL lol. However I am currently up 292% on META and 114% on AAPL. Is it worth selling those off and putting it into XEQT? Or just keep those at this point and keep buying XEQT?
Thanks ladies and gentlemen.

Should I take the loss?
Greed got the Best of me. I bought AGQ when silver was going on a run back in January. In 10 days I was up 60%. And like an idiot - I held on. Since then I've just ignored it out of frustration and business. And now here we are. So much for my play money. Am I thinking the right way to say I should just cut my losses and move on (back in XEQT). Or not likely but am i missing a better option. TIA
Edited to add:
2x leveraged daily In RRSP

100% XEQT in TFSA, reinvesting distributions: when/at what portfolio size should I start splitting into other ETFs?
çnvesting $100 CAD/month maybe more in XEQT in my TFSA through WS (10+ year horizon). I reinvest the distributions to buy more XEQT, and I like the idea of receiving payouts and reinvesting them
I know the simple answer is “just buy XEQT,” and I’m happy with that. But I’d like to understand the long-term picture:
- At what portfolio size (if any) does it make sense to start splitting into other ETFs, like XEI for dividends, instead of 100% XEQT?
- When I do, is it better to just direct new contributions to the second ETF until I reach the target split (e.g. 75/25), rather than selling anything?
- What criteria matter more: portfolio size, time horizon, or risk tolerance? When would you add bonds (XGRO/XBAL)?
Thanks for any thoughts!

investing $100/month in TFSA : XEQT vs VEQT or add XEI?
I want to invest $100 CAD/month in my TFSA t. Long-term horizon (20+ years). I’m considering putting everything in XEQT/VEQT, or adding some XEI for dividends. Since it’s a TFSA, I understand dividends aren’t taxed, so I’m not sure if XEI makes sense.
Is there anything I’m missing? Thanks!

XEQT AI/tech holdings
Does anybody know the amount of holdings or percentage of this index invested in AI and tech ? I ask because AI seems to be taking some damage lately in the sells offs of those stocks. Thanks !
