2022 K5: ABS, stability, blind-spot and forward safety warning lights keep coming on. Not able to get a proper diagnosis
I’m at my wits end with this so hoping someone's been through it. I have 2022 K5 LXS 1.6T, ~85k miles. bought it used in 2024 (ex rental). The car has been running great but I definitely got duped at the dealership. I did pay for an extended warranty.
Since pretty much 6 months in I get random ABS / ESC / Auto Hold lights plus "Check Forward Safety system" and "Check Blind-Spot Safety system" all at once. Lane assist and blind spot stop working when it happens. It shows up after an hour or so of driving or after a short stop. It goes sometimes away if the car sits off for a long time.
The ABS module has code C2402-01 Motor electrical fault. No engine codes.
What I've done so far:
1) Local Kia dealer service last year blamed the battery and wanted $600. I didn't do it.
2) 2 weeks ago an independent shop said "unable to diagnose" and that a few radars looked like they had an impact (no accident that I know of).
3) Went back to dealer said contaminated brake fluid + weak battery. Didn't fix anything there as they were up charging but still charged a $250 diagnosis fee as battery and brakes not covered by extended warranty.
4) Did a brake fluid exchange + front pads/rotors at an independent shop. Replaced battery at OReilly’s. Rescanned right after all that: C2402 is still there and the lights are still on.
The SC252 HECU campaign doesn't apply to my car.
5) Now the Kia dealer says they'll charge another diag fee and they "don't trust" the work since it was done outside Kia.
Has anyone with C2402 on a Kia actually fixed it? Was it the HECU/ABS module, the ABS motor fuse, a connector, something else? This issue does not affect my regular driving at all but it is annoying to have to see all these lights on.
I do have a third-party extended warranty, so I'm trying to figure out exactly what to ask for before I go back. Thanks!

2013 Kia Rio P0326
My girlfriend bought a used 2013 Kia Rio from a dealership about 2 and a half years ago with about 67,000 miles on it. Fast forward to right now and it has about 94,000 miles on it.
The other day the engine light came on and I scanned it with my OBD scanner tool, the code came out to be P0326, no other codes showed up except this one. We took it to a local mechanic and asked to replace the knock sensor on the vehicle, once the sensor got replaced about a day later the same code appeared with a check engine light.
I’d like to add that even with the engine light on this car it drives perfectly fine, it accelerates fine and goes up to freeway speeds without any hesitation, jolting, or engine knock noises. I’ve had my girlfriend rev the car in park at 2-3k RPM as I listened for any abnormal sounds, couldn’t hear anything that sounded like engine knock.
Called Kia and asked them to check if there is any software update on the ECM that is needed because I’ve heard stories that the ECM can throw out faulty codes and needs an update, was told that there is nothing for our Kia based off of the VIN we gave them.
We took it to another mechanic today to try and have them diagnose the new sensor, wiring harness, and to hear if there is an engine knock happening. A couple hours later we got a call from the mechanic stating that the new sensor is good, the wiring harness is good, and that the engine itself is healthy but there MIGHT be carbon buildup since this is a GDI engine and that they’re prone to having carbon buildup. Ive seen past videos and experiences where people have fixed engine knocking and such by walnut blasting the carbon off and restoring the intake valves and pistons.
I wanted to ask if there are any other things that I should do before going along with walnut blasting. This car has been well maintained over the years we have had it, we always made sure to get an oil change before it hit 5,000 miles and we have added fuel additives over time to clean the engine even though it’s a GDI engine and it basically skips the part where gasoline sprays onto intake valve.
I hope some of you are able to point me in the right direction with what to do next. Thank you.

End of lease question: Need Help
I leased a new Telluride back in July that the dealer installed a 2 inch lift on. Does anyone know of I'm screwed when my lease is up and I decide to turn it in? Will KIA penalize me or something for the modifications that the dealer installed before purchase?
No where on the lease agreement or paperwork I got from the dealership does it mention it having any modifications done to it so I think they fooled me and put the liability at the end of the lease on me. Can anyone give advice if they have experience with this sort of thing? Thanks in advance.

2021 Kia Seltos
Hi! I bought a preowned 2021 kia seltos in 2024 and 40k mile/4 year warranty (I’m still under warranty as of today (10/2026)). A few months after purchase, a recall for the oil piston rings was sent out. Took my car to the dealership that sold me the car (big mistake, have been very shady since I bought the car (did not give me both sets of keys as agreed upon, did not disclose previous damage to car and my warranty miraculously didn’t cover the damages, etc.)), and the dealership stated my vehicle did have any issues pertaining to the recall so they did not perform any service on the vehicle. They cleared the recall off my vehicle so I no longer have any active recalls associated to my VIN. Following these poor interactions with the dealership, I sought of a different Kia Certified Service center through a different dealership to perform maintenance and services. Approximately 6 months ago, I began having the exact issues associated with the recall (engine sounds, excessive oil consumption, and carbon buildup) and began having services done to improve the cars health and target the issues (3 oil changes, FIC, 4Cyl Tune Up, Coolant Flush). Today I returned back to service center for the exact same engine issues. After 4 visits to the different Kia service center in the same 6 mo period for the same issue, the manager of the center spoke with me and confirmed that my engine has been consuming oil (I had less than a quart of oil in my engine after receiving an oil change less than 2,000 miles ago (August 2026), has carbon buildup within the engine, and stated the previous fixes have been “bandaids” on the big issue… aka the engine. I guess I’m looking for different kinds of advice. Am I able to get a recall safety inspection done again even though the dealership I bought the car from cleared the recall associated with my VIN? Since the recall is cleared will these potential repairs be coming my own pocket? Is there any recourse I can take with the dealership if this is indeed related to the recall they cleared? I’m sadly upside down on the car so trading it in or selling it is sadly not an option at this moment in time. Any words or advice is welcome.

2021 Kia Seltos CVT Failure at 65k
I am new to the forum but have owned a 2021 Seltos S with about 65,000 miles on it since 2022. Recently on high load acceleration events, the transmission slipped about 4 times. It felt like I got a light tap from behind while passing on the highway. The local dealer took a look at the transmission by removing the output shaft speed sensor and found metal flakes inside the transmission. Since I am the second owner, I am outside of the powertrain warranty and face a bill up to $5,000 to replace the transmission. I asked Kia corporate for a goodwill extension of the warranty due to my full documented maintenance history and the fact that I changed the CVT fluid at 43,000 miles. Kia corporate denied it. Has anyone else had this same issue at this number of miles? This sucks!
Kia 4 seater (disappointed)
Bad design for Kia ev2 4 seater . Tried to move the rear seat to the front and i see a huge hole that too a wire visible . There is a small flap which can be used to hide the hole . But you cannot put any weight directly on top of it .
Disappointed at this design by KIA .

Niro EV Wind vs EV3 Wind FWD
Looking to lease an EV. Just want a decent commuter.
Niro is $243/mo. EV3 is $310/mo
Any strong opinions on one over the other?
Is the extra ~$75/mo ($2700 over 36mo) worth it for the EV3?

My experience with Kia Canada has been an absolute joke. 10 years in the car industry and I’ve never dealt with anything like this.
Wanted to share my recent experience with Kia Canada and hopefully get some advice from anyone who’s dealt with something similar.
I recently returned my 2024 Kia Telluride. I genuinely loved the vehicle and actually wanted another one. Unfortunately, dealing with Kia Canada over the lease return has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a manufacturer.
For some background, I’ve been in the automotive industry for over 10 years. I’ve personally leased BMWs, Mercedes-Benz and Audis, all with lease end protection, and I’ve never experienced anything like this.
I returned my Telluride early and was fully aware there would be an early termination charge of approximately $830. I had absolutely no problem paying that. I knew what I was getting into.
What I wasn’t expecting was a bill for roughly $2,300, especially considering I purchased Kia’s Lease End Protection.
Some of the additional charges included:
Two window mouldings totalling over $500
An alleged 11-inch scratch costing $599
A $248 charge for a tire that had previously been plugged
My biggest concern with the mouldings is that Kia has had recalls involving window mouldings on Tellurides. I’ve repeatedly asked for clarification on whether my vehicle was affected and why I’m being charged for something that could potentially be related to a recall.
I understand lease end protection has limitations. I’m not expecting everything to be covered, but having dealt with several other manufacturers over the years, I was genuinely surprised by how Kia handled this.
Now here’s where the experience really went downhill.
I started by calling Kia Canada’s customer service department. Unfortunately, the first level of customer service didn’t seem to have a very good understanding of leasing or how lease end protection actually works. I found myself explaining things that I would expect their representatives to know.
Eventually, I got through to a manager in Kia’s lease end department.
The manager was extremely rude and condescending. Rather than focusing on my concerns about the charges, he kept bringing up the fact that I hadn’t purchased another Kia and essentially told me I wasn’t a loyal customer.
Here’s the funny part. I actually want another Telluride.
My wife is currently on maternity leave, so we don’t need a second vehicle until she returns to work. I was planning on waiting for the new Telluride to become available in Canada.
Apparently, that makes me an unloyal customer.
After 10 years working in the automotive industry, I found that attitude pretty shocking. Customer loyalty shouldn’t be determined by whether someone purchases another vehicle the exact day they return their lease.
People’s circumstances change. Sometimes they need a vehicle immediately, sometimes they don’t. That doesn’t mean they aren’t planning on returning to the brand.
Then comes the $500 loyalty credit situation.
I was told that if I ordered another Kia, I could receive a $500 loyalty credit towards my lease return charges.
No problem. I contacted my dealership, spoke with them about the new Telluride and actually placed a preorder for one.
Now, suddenly, I’m being told that the vehicle has to be in stock and delivered within 30 days to qualify for the credit.
How exactly am I supposed to take delivery of a vehicle that isn’t even available in Canada yet?
I’m literally trying to buy another Kia, and somehow I’m still being treated like I’m not a loyal customer.
Now here’s the part that’s really frustrating me.
After going back and forth with the lease end manager, he finally agreed to cover $200 towards one of the window moulding charges, which was approximately $299 plus tax.
So even after all the discussions, I’m still responsible for the remaining amount.
He specifically told me he would send an updated invoice reflecting the $200 adjustment.
Well, here we are, and I still haven’t received anything.
No updated invoice. No written confirmation of the adjustment. Nothing except automated responses.
When I follow up, I’m now being told, “Oh, we don’t email anything.”
Seriously?
So what exactly am I supposed to do? Pay the original invoice knowing there’s a $200 adjustment that hasn’t been applied and just hope Kia eventually refunds me the difference?
How can a company this large not provide an updated statement after agreeing to adjust a charge?
And to make matters worse, my invoice is due tomorrow.
I’m not trying to get out of paying what I legitimately owe. I accepted the $830 early termination fee from day one. I just want an accurate invoice, clarification on the additional charges and someone who can actually follow through on what they’ve promised.
I’ve even tried reaching out to Kia executives.
Through my 10 years in the automotive industry, I’ve built relationships and connections with people across the business. I’ve used referrals from people in the industry to reach out to higher-level executives at Kia Canada, hoping someone would actually take the time to look into this.
Not one of them has responded.
That’s honestly what blows my mind the most. We work in an industry that’s supposed to be focused on customer service, building relationships and earning repeat business.
I deal with customers every day, and I couldn’t imagine treating someone this way, especially someone who genuinely enjoyed their vehicle and is trying to purchase another one.
I’m not asking for special treatment because I work in the industry. I’m asking for the same basic customer service that anyone should expect.
At this point, it’s not even about the money anymore. It’s about the principle of it. I’ve spent hours trying to get straightforward answers, been spoken to like I’m doing something wrong, had promises made that haven’t been followed through on, and now even attempts to contact senior management have gone unanswered.
The most disappointing part is that I genuinely enjoyed my Telluride. I liked it enough that I’ve already spoken with my dealership and placed a preorder for another one.
Yet Kia Canada’s lease end department seems more interested in reminding me that I didn’t immediately purchase another vehicle than actually helping resolve the situation.
I’ve leased vehicles from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, and I’ve never been treated this way over a lease return, especially when I’ve purchased lease end protection.
I understand that every manufacturer has different policies, but basic customer service shouldn’t be this difficult.
At this point, I’m honestly just looking for some help.
Has anyone successfully escalated a complaint with Kia Canada beyond their lease end department? Is there someone in senior management who actually looks into these situations?
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Kia’s Lease End Protection or been promised adjustments that never appeared on their invoice?
I don’t think asking for an accurate bill and having a manager honour an adjustment he already approved is unreasonable.
What a shame. I genuinely liked the vehicle, but this entire experience has really made me question whether I want to deal with Kia Canada again.

Kia 2021 Seltos EX Engine light code : P001700
Hey everyone,
I’m in Alberta, Canada. My 2021 Kia Seltos (2.0L engine) just suffered a major engine timing failure at 99,085 km (Code P0017). Country Hills Kia is quoting me $12,400+ out of pocket for a full engine replacement and timing repairs.
This engine is part of the Transport Canada Safety Recall 2021225 (Kia Recall RC114) for defective piston oil rings that cause severe oil consumption and engine failure. The dealership "completed" this recall back in 2021, but they only applied a software patch instead of replacing hardware. Now, the engine has starved for oil and failed.
Both the dealer and Kia Canada Corporate have denied coverage, claiming the 5-year warranty limit has passed.
Has anyone else faced this exact issue after the recall software update? Were you able to get it covered?
Both corporate and the dealer are refusing to help. What is my best next move to fight this? AMVICor CAMVAP?
I have all my oil change receipts and the official diagnostic printout ready. I refuse to pay $12,000 for a known manufacturing defect. Any advice or experiences would be a huge help!

"Go check Kia.ca yourself" – Unbelievable experience at a Mississauga Kia dealership
Had an infuriating experience trying to shop for a new car at a Kia dealership in Mississauga today, and wanted to see if this is normal here.
I had a scheduled appointment, but the salesperson ("Sohail") still made me wait 30 minutes. When we finally sat down, he didn't know his own inventory or the differences between the 2026 and 2027 models - he literally Googled it right in front of me. To make matters worse, when I asked to test drive the top-of-the-line trim I was interested in, he claimed they didn't have any available for a test drive.
He then scribbled a biweekly rate of $398 on a scrap sheet of paper. When I asked for a written breakdown, he refused. When I mentioned I visited Oakville Kia a couple of months ago and got a number around $370, he claimed he could "work closer to that," but still wouldn't give me a concrete figure.
When I demanded to see his manager, he brought out someone after another 15 minutes (who honestly seemed like just another sales associate playing manager). This "manager" flat-out told me it’s "dealership policy" not to give quotations, and told me to go check Kia.ca.
So he opened up Kia.ca right there on his computer - and the official biweekly payment came out to $337. When I asked why Sohail gave me a ridiculous $398 quote, the "manager" claimed it included a mandatory "dealership service package" that adds 10%. Even basic math says a 10% add-on doesn't turn $337 into $398.
Is this location known for pulling fake "policies," phantom managers, and shady price padding, or did I just hit the jackpot for bad service?

Kia K4 LXS: Anyone Past 100k
Hello all I am in the market for a new car and was looking at the 2025 or 2026 Kia K4 LXS. I do about 500 miles a week mostly highways and I've been told Kias have some maintance issuespost 100k, was wondering if anyone who has one of the has reached that mileage point yet or pasted it, was driving a 23 Corolla which had about 167k before life happened. Any info or knowledge would be much appreciated only thing that worrys me is the transmission on these and the strick keep your receipts / paperwork of when oil and transmissions were flushed. This would be my daily communter car and its honeslty either between this or another Corolla.
