Anybody else starting to get bored?
Been a fan for about 6 years before the big boom but lately it’s been feeling like they need to evolve the show and add a different element. Kinda like when they went from Cali to Texas. Maybe it’s time to NYC or Chicago.
50
u/beenhadballs 2d ago
They need the opposite. The show needs less evolution, less segments, less guest centric. Focus on the bucket and that chaos. Wont happen though, its overly curated now.
4
u/Stunning_Resident232 1d ago
Because of Netflix. That shoulda showed what the show would eventually turn into
1
1
u/Creepy_Rip6730 1d ago
It's too big for that now... That's why I think they gotta start other ones in diff cities. If they made it more bucket centric there'd be even more crazy people moving to Austin and it just wouldn't work out well. New city, smaller production, fresh start, less crazy people in the bucket
•
u/Agreeable_Fly_8241 18h ago
Yeah forsure maybe evolution was the wrong word but something needs to spice this up.

u/mcdreamerson 1d ago
For me - anytime there is an arena show I get more over it.
10
u/Palm-grinder12 1d ago
The arena and Netflix shows are embarrassing . It's sad a lot of peoples first watch is the Netflix eps
2
u/mcdreamerson 1d ago
Yeah. The Netflix stuff was beyond a flop. Cash grab, and then the general public catches on.

Story Warz & AYG are much more enjoyable and feel natural indeed
Edit: I would be crazy not to also add MSSP and Stavvy’s World
•
u/WhatAMessIveMade 19h ago
What’s AYG? I might have to check it out!
•
u/pi_bolar 19h ago
Are you Garbage, you definitely should it’s probably the most organically funny pod out rn! Love the boys
•
•
u/BeautifulCable8980 19h ago
Story Warz is great initially, but it starts getting old pretty quick and then really drops off. I lasted for about a dozen episodes then just kind of forgot all about it.
•
u/Unfair-Increase-5037 18h ago
I agree but it really does depend on who the guests are and the topics

u/Radiant-Tomorrow8519 2d ago
We need less recurring characters. More bucket pulls. Tony won’t make it happen. He likes to play “mastermind”.
12
u/buttholebutwholesome 2d ago
Bucket pulls can be rough. Good panelists make the show better
28
u/mafibasheth 2d ago
After Trump and crew mindfucked the whole rogansphere, all of the good comics won’t touch the panel anymore.
A few episodes ago Tony hilariously stated “we aren’t republican or democrat here.” They’re all suffering an identity crisis right now.
That’s the underlying problem with the show this year.

I still enjoy the show but the last two weeks were seriously rough. I’m convinced Tony pepperoni is Tony’s ego saying I can make anyone a famous comic no matter how bad their act is. Guy comes out, does corny one liners and says mamma Mia. wtf?? The crowd and all the panel join in and ask him leading questions to take his shirts and hat off. Give me a break
1

u/StoneyDanza42069 2d ago
Literally exact opposite of what is needed. What is actually "needed' is a reversion back to what made the show fun/popular in the first place. The show is entirely too "canned" anymore. We don't need 4-6 "regulars"/ golden ticket winners every show.
We need more randomness. More chaos. More freaks. Maybe the show has just evolved past what it once was. Maybe its too late to go back.....the consumers consume what they want and creators adapt to meet that demand....The show seems to have lost its roots as an "art expo" of sorts and it doesnt appear we'll ever go back.
3
u/Cumulo187 2d ago
I feel like its too late. Show got too big. I liked one commenters idea about off shoots with new hosts in different cities.
48
u/BanterPhobic 2d ago
I don’t think it needs that big of a change. Just rotate the regulars more frequently so they don’t outstay their welcome like Dedrick and Pat are doing, drop the occasional rigged bucket pulls and just openly use that spot to promote one of their friends/a door worker from the club or something, and keep a faster pace by not dragging out interviews with mildly quirky bucket pulls.
•
3
u/pizzacrypt 2d ago
Having paid regulars come on biweekly or once a month would be great for the show and the comedians. My guess is that paid regulars most likely have a contract and they're stuck paying them. Probably why they keep certain comedians around
→ More replies (2)2
u/stankbucket 1d ago
I think it's just that Tony has a set phrase in his head for introducing them and gushing about how hard it is to do a new minute every week. He would have to think up a new intro.
2
u/MissMandy32 1d ago
Particularly noticed the emphasis during introduction on how brutally hard it is to do a minute once Dedrick was getting all the hate

u/Creepy_Rip6730 2d ago
I don't think Tony's leaving Texas but I kinda wish there was an offshoot in another city maybe NYC or Boston that has a different night. New host, new scene. Obviously could have some overlaps and maybe get some golden ticket winners to start things off as regulars over there...
But yeah man I'm just getting tired of it... Tired of the Texas crowd and Austin scene, tired of Tony's ego, tired of psychotic people living in a van who moved to texas to be on kill tony and forgot to write jokes. I would just love some new faces and something fresh, still love the show and watch every week but I think it'd be dope if they expanded their empire. The format has potential to work in multiple places and overlap so comedians can tour and do multiple stops, and comedy always works best when it's fresh and unique so let's get some different voices and scenes in there!
4
u/LowSkyOrbit 1d ago
LA and NYC are the real comedy hubs regardless of what Austin has tried to become, the goal for most comedians is still exposure and Austin doesn't have a big enough club scene to support or nurture rising stars. Other cities might have a good scene too, but end of the day it's NYC and LA where the industry is looking for talent.
1
2
u/Cptn_Lemons 1d ago
Comedians have an endless pool of talent to pull from. They could have this in three states. Each one a different host with guests making multiple appearances. You do one episode on Monday one episode on Wednesday and one episode on Friday.
I’d put money all of them end up being successful.
1
u/clearwater-orchid 1d ago
I completely agree with going to a new location. That’s part of what made it exciting when they went from LA to Austin.
11
u/gzgzgzgz 1d ago
move it to nyc so that the bucket pulls dont suck and wont be so focused on edgy hacky jokes but tony could never since that's the shit he LOVES
7
u/snowman_9000 1d ago
Yep, don’t even watch the whole episode anymore.
3
u/EatTheRich2028 1d ago
i would watch kill tony every monday night for years and die laughing every episode. now i can hardly make it 20 mins in and have skipped a lot of episodes. is it because we've all seen everything at this point? "whats the blackest thing about you" was funny the first few times... or maybe im just getting old.

I’m convinced it’s Austin itself. It was never a cool place. It lucked out with the pandemic and now all those people are leaving in droves. More people now are leaving than coming in. They all realized it’s a corny town. Thats why the rents are falling lol. I agree with whoever mentioned that they should move on to a new city. None of these people will be living here in 5 years.

Became a fan after moving back to austin in 2021 and went to a bunch of shows when it was still at Vulcan then early mothership days. The last year or maybe a bit longer has been unwatchable for me. I used to be excited every Monday and try to get tickets every drop. I don’t even bother watching now and just keep an eye on the subreddit to see if anything interesting happens. Something needs to change. Tony let his ego get to him a while ago and it’s gone so downhill

u/wildonionwarrior 2d ago
At the beginning regulars weren’t even necessarily the best comics that came on. They were people to watch develop.
Not saying we should go back to that (Reddit would never allow if) but demonstrates how far the show has shifted from what it was. I think it hit its stride and was at its peak just after that era. It would be nice for it to be at least a tiny bit about giving advice and developing comedy again.

You stopped watching the show months ago, but decided to stay on a subreddit for a show you stopped watching and felt is 'charmless.' What did the show do that has it still living in your head rent free?
5
u/redadidasjumpsuit 1d ago
it's one of my favorite shows ever. i'm here to stay in the loop and because i like the comedy world. not here to spread negativity, but i identified with OP's plight.

u/DukeAsriel 1d ago
I think all of you need to move on and enjoy other things that you don't hate. Being here must be awful for your mental health.
I used to watch a lot of political debates and commentary channels. It made me mad. I unsubscribed from political channels. Now I'm far less mad.
Like me, remember to smash that 'bell' a second time.

“Politicos makes me angry so I dont watch it anymore”. How about you learn to control your emotions. Lmao. If politics makes you angry you’re the problem.

This is such a weird attack.
What if he just wanted to step away from his hobby for a little.
What do you want him to Unfollow kill Tony on Instagram Twitter and YouTube also.
I haven’t been watching the show as much, but I’m still a part of the Reddit page. I still subscribed to the YouTube channel. I still occasionally watch clips and shorts.
But I don’t watch the full episode episodes like I was three months ago

Show us too much ego now and not enough focus on the art. It lost its way. All of these guys became hacks when they achieved their wealth.
4
u/Real-Hunter-3892 2d ago
Most of the local Texas comics feel like bottom of the barrel. The funniest parts are actually the nervous first-timers or random weirdos he rips into.
It’s kinda dumb when he asks “why would you sign up?” dude, that’s the whole show. Random bucket pulls and wildcards. Then he trots out the regulars like Black Skip to reset the room, but honestly, the whole Austin scene feels stale. Funny show, but super repetitive and hypocritical. WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK?
2
u/BrookieCookiesReveng 2d ago
Yeah I had to stop watching entirely. It's so bad now.
Now, I much prefer a youtube show out of Houston called the one minute comedy showdown, by riot comedy club. It's got the good parts of kill tony without all the bad parts, imo
2
u/MetaPodcast 2d ago
OP wants more evolution, the comments want less, and the comments are right about the mechanism. The bucket-pull era worked because nobody controlled it, not even Tony. The regulars system fixed the quality problem but killed the chaos that made the format work. A new city wouldn't change that. More bucket pulls would.
2
u/yousippin 2d ago
Im still rewatching older episodes. Anything with jeremiah and joel is all i need. Theyre kinda the real stars
2
u/NoClass3912 1d ago
Yup, I can hardly dredge my way through the episodes now.. I’m always gonna complain about the lack of the old band, but they really kept it fresh with the rotating characters and it was another flavor of the interview. But besides the point. It feels like the same people over and over and over and people just wanting to get on camera and say “hi mom”

2
u/rediitwanderer 1d ago
Have been feeling this way too! We (husband & I) have been watching for 4 years and it just feels like it’s lost its spark.

3
3
u/Defiled_Cannibal 2d ago
I used to watch religiously every Monday. I'd wait for the timer and everything. Now I forget the show even comes on Mondays. Later in the week I remember oh who was on KT? I look at the thumbnail and never watch it anymore. I watch story warz religiously now.
2
u/twstephens77 2d ago
Yep, stopped watching a few months ago. Too many comedians relying on shock racism/sexism, Tony being a jackass, unfunny regulars, etc. etc. Plenty of better ways to spend my time.
3
u/MunchieMofo 1d ago
Jeremiah would be the boredom killer in the old show. When it sucked he would crank it up and save the show.

The show wouldn’t succeed in another city as it is. The other cities don’t think tranny, retard, and racist jokes are funny.

2
u/RawkyRac00n 2d ago
Sorry to say it, but he’s gotta stop overcompensating. Tony loved hack comedy, but especially so if it’s a token black guy/handicap
3
u/Rain_Bear 2d ago
yeah, it fell off after they moved to austin and ditched the the og band. watched for a couple years after but it just kept getting worse. Tony released a special that makes Dan Nainan look like a genius by comparison. Lost all credibility yet he still acts like the arbiter of what is funny. Also seems quite likely he's stealing jokes from bucket pulls.
Not to mention all the shilling for the right/fascism is intolerable - what a fuckin tool.
Redban is a disgusting perv and possibly mentally challenged but hes cool at least.
2
u/yousippin 2d ago
His mouth kinda quivers when he talks now like hes on adderall or something. I think he may be sick and not listening to doctors advice. But also yeah i miss og band. I watch older eps almost daily bc jeremiah and joel are so talented and funny. I ff past the drum offs bc theyre all the same
1
u/Opposite_Language_19 2d ago
Needs amazing guest combinations Darnell was a breath of fresh air when he was playing the heel and thought the lady was a lady
Protect Our Parks boys on would be good
I would argue we need William back and all the revenue it’s generated to go back to getting bigger panel guests who are actually funny
The latest episode was painful to watch the guy next to Tim try and riff
1
1
u/ThisMeansRooR 2d ago
We need more Mexican drum offs, except this time, we actually have an extra drummer that abides by the rules originally set out for the drum offs. If they lose, the new drummer takes their place in Kill Tony and the loser has to go try to get a job doing whatever the new drummer did.

Tony needs to start roasting again even the guests need to get into roasting was way better
1
u/TortillaDilla 2d ago
Totally agree with you and all these comments are going to back to bucket pull heavy episodes. Set the bar higher for regulars and golden ticket winners. Obviously Dedrick needs to go, and the way Tony praises him and the guests ride Tony by adding “you’re great man” is just so cringey after watching an incoherent ramble… TBH I feel like tony even did the same thing with David Lucas back in the day. David’s comedy and especially his KT minutes were usually absolute trash and lacked an ironic amount of self awareness. The roasting was the only good part. The show has really declined and become annoying at times but I still watch every week out of curiosity and hope for some funny moments. I don’t dislike it but It was far superior until about a year ago
1
u/i_am_saami 2d ago
Last 6 months were just meh. No good episode as a whole. Just some good bucket pulls in some episodes and pat. That's it. Before even if all the bucket pulls sucks, it was entertaining to watch the interview. Now it feels repetitive.
1
u/ferrrnando 2d ago
Yes, this is the first episode I'm struggling to get through simply because it bores me and I change it to something else. The bucket pulls have been meh, and I'm not looking forward to the same regulars every week.

Same thing here. Been a fan since they just moved out of California. The Vulcan felt like the pinnacle for me. It’s then since settled into what’s its going to be now. I think it’d be fun if they switched it up to doing shows half the time at redbans club or something.
1
u/drscarcasm 2d ago
It has become painfully boring and the audience (we) is constantly udermined, the show insults our intelligence by claiming nothing is scripted, and the focus is on getting more money. It won't change for the better because materialism

You peasants know nothing of the Iron Patriot days. This show jumped the shark a long time ago and y’all just here for the slow heat death of KT.

For sure, I personally thought the Wheeler Walker episode was a low point. Just an update would be nice.
1
u/Asleep_Onion 1d ago
Yeah I'm honestly at the point where I might give it one or two more weeks, but if it's still just more of the same then I'll probably not tune in anymore unless I see an especially fun looking panel come up.
1
u/Bettylurker 1d ago
I want to see more coaching and advice for the bucket pulls AND ESPECIALLY with the regulars. Tony needs to stop gaslighting us with Derrick & Davis lucas etc, and go back to being more of a sponsor/benefactor to up and coming comedians.
1
u/TruckRadiant6638 1d ago
There have been a few recent episodes I’ve really enjoyed, but overall, it’s become so closely associated with a particular political leaning that it attracts people who pander to that audience, making a lot of the jokes feel repetitive.

u/NoKontroll 1d ago
They should instead of doing arenas. Go back to the store for a month. Or do some shows in clubs instead of big places. Do a KT tour. 2 weeks in each city. 25 cities. 50 states. Maybe a theatre if a club isnt feasible for the demand. But arenas suck.

When they got rid of the OG band the show fell off hard. Tony doesn't know how to actually produce an entertaining show, he thinks his presence is enough, which is hilariousy ridiculous. The regulars are fairly and consistently awful. I really try to tune back in every so often, but find myself clicking off quickly.

I have a weird feeling that the show will move to Nashville eventually. Besides Austin, Tony has expressed more affinity toward that city than any other.

Found the show a few years ago and would binge episodes backwards. I don't think I've listened to one in maybe six weeks now. Yeah. I bailed on Kill Tony about 15 months ago after years of watching religiously. I enjoy comedy a lot. I enjoy a lot of what people might call “risky comedy” but I like it when it’s funny and when the comedian sprinkles the jokes into an act. It seems like that show and a lot of the regular comedians at the mothership are just making that style their entire identity. They are trying way too hard to have that “edgy comedian” look. It’s just not for me.
1
u/NewUnderstanding646 1d ago
Its a hit and miss show. The hits feel less new and the misses seem more common. Also at a certain point the interviews become a trope and the mediocer comics play into it. The show rarley feels organic anymore.

I haven’t watched the full show in almost a year. And I could not wait for Mondays for the longest time. Kind of a bummer.
•
u/Same_Hunt_7855 21h ago
It’s been a Monday date night routine every Monday for the last 3-4 years. Haven’t missed one. At all. Yes, it’s getting boring. The behind the scenes Kill Tony stuff made it worse showing that everyone that hit the stage was “on” and they got off and were different folks (which is what I like)…except for Tony. He’s a ranting fool/laughter draining/ center of attention guy on stage and even in the green room. Just a me me me guy non stop and it’s draining. BTS made me love Redban more as well as letting me see what a lush Hans Kim is lol

It might be time for me but following in the beloved key of Atypical A F, still unsure if the world is ready for this twist of a scanner darkly and outrageous people… peppered with Tom Greenish notes..
vintage still reeking of green and few filters.

or maybe highlight Tony’s hair and have Redban sing a new theme song….. #acaRedbella. hell, what do I know…(?) lol

I started getting bored after the first trump/Biden episode, would only tune in every now and then. After I went to the london show (the one that never made it to youtube) I stopped watching altogether. I think it peaked in 2025 for me.
0
u/MetalFaceBroom 2d ago
The show is peak when you have good panelists, Adam Ray, Gillis, Jimmy Carr and decently funny / absolute characters as the regulars - Ari Matti, Kam P, William MontG etc (love or hate them Kam and William are characters)
Yeah you can't have this all the time but that's the formula that works.
Plus more freaks. Maybe cut some interviews down from 20 minutes and concentrate on the minute with new freaks.

No one has come from the show to become a huge comic. It becomes stale like the singing shows because the judges are more focused on than the contestants.

This subreddit is hilarious. Everyone constantly has grand ideas for how to change it. Every day it's "I hate this guy therefore he shouldn't be allowed back" or "they should make major change X or Y". The entitlement is off the charts... KT is a *free* show. Folks! I think Tony and Redban should do with it whatever they want, whenever they want.

The show needs to go back to its roots. It’s become too “polished” and it feels rehearsed. The show use to be a circus and you never knew what was going to happen. It was about comedy, giving advice, being silly and just making something entertaining…….now it’s about maintaining control over a format and everyone getting rich
