Spot Info/Question How is Sicily in dec?
Hi folks,
We’re doing a road trip to Sicily soon. I know winter isn’t the prime kiting season there, but I’d still love to hear what we can realistically expect.
• How many kiteable days per week/month do you usually get in winter?
• Since there won’t be thermals: when it does blow, is it usually proper storm/stong-wind conditions?
• I currently ride a 9m and 12m. Should I add a 7m specifically for this trip, or is that overkill and I should rather bring a proper lightwind kite instead?
• For me, Sicily has always basically meant Lo Stagnone. Are there any other spots we should definitely check out in winter?
• What’s the scene like on site in winter? Are we likely to be pretty much on our own, or are some schools and bars still open?
• Are there places open in the evening for drinks, or is everything basically closed and parking is free?
• Overall: is it more like “summer with less traffic” or full winter shutdown mode?
TL;DR: Based on your recent experience, how is kiting in Sicily during winter – wind reliability, kite sizes, alternative spots, and local infrastructure?
