Question/Advice Needed Found this kitten today
So my neighbour found this kitten and they left it die so I took it , it’s very small, I searched for kmr but I couldn’t find it so I fed it those weaning formulas ? Is there any alternative or something I can feed it long term ? (And the ones I found online are too expensive and will take like three weeks to get here.
Edit: so I went to the vet , he gave me a weaning formula that’s closer to kmr , gave me calcium and medicines for digestion ? Cause the poop was slimy now the only problem I have is it really doesn’t feel like eating 😭 but I feed her atleast 5ml every feed even if it takes 20 mins 🤍

You will need kmr any alternatives are only meant for emergencies. Maybe there a animal shelter it hospital near you that could provide some?

I went out searching for any hospital that would be open but I couldn’t find any , and any pet store basically didn’t sell any kmr so I bought those weaning formulas just for maybe tonight before I can find an actual formula but there probably isn’t any here I live in a small town

you can also use goat milk but again only temporarily.

she needs formula and a heat source, make sure to keep her body temperature stable. kittens that young usually rely on their moms for that. you can use a heating pad on a low setting with a blanket in between (so the kitten doesn’t get overheated) or use a warm water bottle. you can even tuck her in your shirt against your skin if you need to. she will need constant feeding to survive. as others have said, kitten lady on youtube. best of luck. i really hope she/he makes it.

Goat milk is probably available where you are? Start trying to wean him with canned kitten food diluted with water or goat milk.

This kitten is closer to two/three weeks. His ears are perked up and his eyes open.
If you can’t get kitten formula (kitten milk replacement), there is a homemade version made with goat milk and egg yolks. It’s better than cows milk, which can upset tummies.

Haha yeah I have three cats actually 😭 I went out of my way to rescue this one because the people who found them were like “it’ll die anyway “ and it made me mad as hell , which btw wouldn’t have been a problem if they left the kitten where its mom kept it they deliberately took it away because the meowing was ‘noisy’ and just left these poor kittens to die, when they would have been fine if they just left them alone , before I took the kitten I did leave it near the general area they took it from for maybe an hour or two which was less ,but they said it’s been three days since they took the kittens out of the place their mom hid them so I didnt have much hope the mom would come back for the kitten.

I screamed at them and called them selfish and shit because I was so mad , I couldn’t find the others tho because they left it to die on the ground and this was the only one still left , there were 3 according to them if I went there earlier I could’ve rescued all of them.

Wow Fuck your neighbors! I rescheduled a cat from my old job (oilfield). They trapped her in a raccoon trap (lots of raccoons at work like 30). Some of the guys were monsters and wanted to drown the poor black cat in the cage. If I didn’t step in and take her they would’ve done it (they all hated cats).
9 years later she is a wonderful fat cat that goes really nuts when you scratch by her tail. Like really nutz. Liking and biting the air and herself (not hard) making these weird growling noises. But always wants more

I’m in India Manipur , tbh it’s not so much about the spending but it’s more about the stuff reaching to where I live it will take around 2 or 3 weeks and by that time the kitten could be fed weaning formula

Do you have access to goat's milk there? There are online recipes for homemade formula. It is meant to be used until you can get KMR, but it will work for now. I think the taurine is what is missing, a nutrient that kittens need. You can order kitten vitamins. I use Pet Tinic here in the US.

You're doing an amazing job! She may be having issues with appetite due to being abandoned, or that may have been why she was abandoned. Mother kittens will abandon young who seem sick to save their energy for the healthy ones. You likely saved this baby's life, but try to steel yourself for the possibility she might not make it despite your efforts

Little kitten stores are very yellowish and slimy that's natural not every doctor will treat a kitten with a heart... many of them will develop diarrhea and it's nothing will stop it... it is a very small baby and if he has teeth he would eat regular canned food for kittens! The more money you pay unfortunately the better is the quality. some kid don't like the formula because they don't need it anymore you can start to give him lactose free half-and-half with no substitute lactose free it's very important! I use my cat on it and they still have once a while as a treat!
