koreans daily sodium intake is crazy

u/hasanicecrunch 1d ago
Yea that and the alcohol is really bad for the heart, and I’m not being judgey! I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at 39 from drinking every night and luckily now the meds work for me, I was in the most severe stage of it and didn’t even know. Now my heart is ok but I have to be sober (which is fine!! Luckily I don’t miss it and am happy being sober) and watch my sodium.

And people thought he was bullshitting! For anyone that has spent any amount of time in Korea, drinking is a huge part of daily life for a lot of people (not all)!
Also, OP, might wanna blur out those labels and your company name! Just saying...
Source: Lived there for years and a few bottles of soju after work was the norm.

Take good care of yourself! We are probably similar in age, and abusing my body is starting to take a toll that I did not experience when I was in my 20s.

Ok admittedly I have kinda hate watched these. Avid watcher of cooking shows—which is why I stuck around bc I enjoy seeing my guy put his meals together.
It’s the inclusion of the sounds of eating loudly, chewing, slurping, that drives me nuts. But this video won me over. I’m sorry I was harsh before. Keep it up mister hangover soup man 🤝

u/omnixbro 2d ago
Yeah, fully agree, he's also less "extra" in this video? Just normal bites, like a normal guy. Not exaggerated bites, not exaggerated reactions, not exaggerated slurping, drinking, sighing, moaning, yelling, etc. Much better content overall, keep it up!

I hope you realize that none of those sounds are considered rude in Korea or most Asian countries.

Korean unc in his mid thirties here, just going to make a quick correction. Eating and chewing loudly is considered gross by most people here (I can speak for people in Seoul, not sure about other regions). Slurping with noodles is alright (don't overdo it and try to keep it to a minimum or otherwise it does become kinda gross) but slurping any kind if soup or broth is gross. It's not necessarily "rude" but it's still pretty gross, and it doesn't get any less gross just because older people in this country happen do do a lot of it.

I was born and raised in the US but my family is originally from Busan and grew up in an area with a large Korean population and I never knew a single ajussi that didn't make all these noises while eating lol

They don't have to be considered rude for someone to find them uncomfortable to listen to the ASMR of it.

Yes. The food and the drinks, and the roads and the traveling. Yes it reminds me of my time in Korea and I miss going there, can't wait to go again.

Drive-through coffee places REALLY need to start carrying triangle kimbap. I'd be on that every single day.

Dudes livin it up for sure. In the moment too, never having to spend time documenting his beautiful journey through his cell phone then posting it online for the attention and validation. I’m so envious.

Don’t be angry you are on the side of consumption and not the side of providing.
“I’m mad at this Asian’s massive success in life. His social gatherings. His own business. His own social media deliverance. This guys life is so much more fulfilling than mine I’m going to leave this disparaging comment to speak my lonely mind.”

u/Wanderingjes 1d ago
Is his life a success? Perhaps? Everyone has a different definition for what that could be. What’s he providing though? It’s internet graffiti and not the good kind.

I'm sorry is it illegal to drive hung over now? He's not drunk it's the next morning. He lays down at 8:30 pm and wakes up at 5.

You seem uninformed. Generally a drink leaves the system per hour. 6 to 8 drinks is plenty to get a hangover. Maybe he had more. But he was drinking these over maybe 3 hours plus. So assume he started drinking at 7 pm because I'm not checking the time stamp, fellow could have 12 drinks and be fine to drive by 7 am. I mean he could have more, drive earlier, still be under the limit. It's not an issue of him being drunk or tipsy, by am, it's an issue of him feeling like shit. On the other hand, if he started drinking at 7 pm and slammed 7 drinks, he would not be ok to drive at 10 pm. Make sense?

It's one of those ending first edits. He's hungover at the end, not the beginning when he's driving to work.

Love the videos. Weird question: how do you stay in shape with all the calories you seem to intake every day ?

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm 1d ago
That’s the secret, you don’t. Skinny doesn’t mean fit. His insides are not gonna look good.

Having the same basic flavor profile for three square meals is bonkers to me.

My dude, you have the alcoholic shakes. Please chill out with the daily drinking. Stomach cancer or worse is going to get you.

I don’t know if he knows it or if anybody saw it but he’s got the alcohol shakes. Small tremors on the chopsticks in the closeups. He probably needs to lay off the alcohol. It only gets worse from there. He’ll be giving Michael J Fox a run for “Best ‘01 Harlem Shake” in no time.
