The final boss of virtue signaling

Post image

https://x.com/house_house_/status/2110599487228117283?s=46

What’s funny is that this is having the opposite effect, most people are shitting on the devs for being brainbroken by Isreal (even on the woke ass Xbox sub) more than they are paying attention to the so-called “genocide”, it’s almost like gamers just want to play video games or something.

What's funny is that the game is available in all the Israeli stores of the platforms its on.

176

u/Big_Wrongdoer1042 2d ago

Hey hey, they're trying to virtue signal here, not go bankrupt.

18

u/SheevSyndicate 2d ago

Were they really going to gain that much from selling in a market the size of Israel especially while virtue signalling about Palestine?

76

u/BobPlaysStuff A Milkman who knows his milk 2d ago

They said it themselves: they're getting their marching orders from elsewhere. Whatever that BDS is. Like people who just blindly give to charity, they probably don't actually care about the details. Or, that is to say, they only really care about making themselves feel like they're a superior "good" person

30

u/collymolotov 2d ago

BDS isn’t a charity. It basically just means boycotting, divesting and sanctioning Israeli economic interests on a national/corporate/individual level. The idea is to apply similar economic pressure to Israel as was applied to South Africa in the 1980s.

Now, one can take whatever view of that they wish and I’m not going to get into it here. But it’s not a charity, more of an ideological approach to doing business akin to ESG designed to leverage economic pressure into geopolitical and social consequences. “Forcing behaviours” as Larry Fink put it.

I have zero idea what this has to do with Microsoft. It’s nonsensical, as the game is being sold in the Israeli market online for all the competing platforms.

21

u/BobPlaysStuff A Milkman who knows his milk 2d ago

I wasn't trying to claim BDS is a charity. I was simply saying that these devs act like some people who blindly give to charity. In both scenarios, blindly giving to a charity or listening to BDS, they're not actually really caring about the details and whether what they're doing is actually helping, it's more about the performative nature of making it seem like they care

18

u/sharktail_tanker 2d ago

I mean that stupid boycott list probably doesn't have "PSN Israel" in it.

This statement feels so robotic, like the boycott rules are some kind of annoying law they can't do anything about, but will find loopholes for as best they can. They don't actually give a singular fuck.

If they cared they would donate their profits, that would cause more change than a performative wall of text and making their frankly boring game unavalible on Xbox. It's pretty much just a VrChat lobby, every bit of entertainment comes from other players. You might as well just hop on a discord call and fuck around in a minecraft server

Is a developer allowed to block specific countries?

2

u/tapperyaus 2d ago

You can on Steam

5

u/Thorngrove 2d ago

But Steam runs on windows. Which is Microsoft.

I miss when gaming was a niche hobby and was able to avoid shit like this because of it. I wish we could go back to the days where the only "political" discussion around games was "violent video games make people more violent." Those discussions almost seem quaint now.

36

u/oscuroluna 2d ago edited 2d ago

You and me both.

Problem is the Social Justice Evangelists can't leave anything well enough alone without The Message. Its a cult and cultists aren't exactly known for separating things, especially given they're glued to their phones and social media and have this imprinted in their brains 24/7 (as intended).

I miss when even being a nerd was rare lol. Didn't have the pop culture infection and subversion as a result...

27

u/Ongobongas 2d ago

Phones and widespread access to internet ruined everything.

Theres a entire generation of low IQ mindless consoomers that got fed a steady diet of garbage. It takes decades but it's happened.Their brains are completely mush.

8

u/Mysterious_Tea Mod 2d ago

My thought exactly.

Many idiots still do not get the fact people play games primarily to escape from the oppressive politicized reality.

6

u/javerthugo 2d ago

Sad thing is all the game makers only stood up for themselves because it was icky conservatives making that argument. The moment a commie in flannel said roughly the same thing they caved in almost immediately

3

u/Consistentdegeneracy 1d ago

Not just conservatives, but boomers. The moment young women start swinging a certain ideological direction, the simps will always follow. It happened with prohibition. It happened with the hippie movement. And now we suffer it again.

1

u/dionysus_project 22h ago

It happened with the hippie movement.

Started with men doing psychedelics, the women followed. And it was true too. The Vietnam War was a catastrophe, and Nixon and Ehrlichman waged war against drugs to destroy the opposition of the military industrial complex. We are still paying for his self-serving policies today. So I wouldn't mix the hippies into a simplistic "simps did it" like you do.

3

u/mushy_friend 1d ago

I'm happy it's a little more mainstream so that people don't get bullied or ostracised for it anymore, but yeah I wish it wasn't this mainstream

1

u/Drakonic 1d ago

The societal problem more fundamentally is that politics should have stayed a niche hobby. Too many morons learning about it in biased environments, spending mindshare on it, and degrading other spheres of life with irrational conflations.

199

u/Send_Boobs_Via_DM 2d ago

No one gonna play this shit anyway

145

u/sick_of-it-all 2d ago

I watched the trailer when it released on Playstation. The people at the game studio who made the game narrate. You can tell by the way they talk, they're all soy filled betas. Very soft-spoken, very sensitive, very feminine. It's like you're sitting in a coffee shop in a gentrified neighborhood listening to someone with wax in their moustache gently tell you about their new game.

18

u/studioscents 2d ago

This made me guffaw… this should be the definition of cringe

36

u/GrumpyShiina 2d ago

Somebody get these Betas out of here!

9

u/Agent4777 2d ago

These people need to be stopped

2

u/Gargarian67 2d ago

These people need to be ingored. And that will stop them.

2

u/TheHoovyPrince 1d ago

Not surprising at all because their from Melbourne which is the most progressive/left-leaning place in Australia by far. I know because im from here. There's legitimately a decent number of socialists here who ironically vote for the socialist party.

12

u/SneakyBadAss 2d ago

I tried to watch even the "funny moments", and it's too much autistic supreme game even for me, an autist.

25

u/Infamous_Hospital_33 2d ago

No, it was actually fun for the 10 hours my buddies and I played for it. There were puzzles and coordination and a little bit of physical platforming. It was actually a fun distraction.

That being said, fuck these guys, I"ll never revisit it and it wasn't THAT good. There's a reason why it was launched on like a psn subscription tier.

Friendslop and streamerbait games are designed to be fun for a few hours at a time with friends for a few weeks. Then people get bored and move on to the next friendslop game because the games don't have a whole lot of depth, content or replay value.

-18

u/bbristowe 2d ago

Not the first time this sub is completely wrong.

-2

u/DreamsServedSoft 2d ago

except the millions of people who already have

34

u/Iavados 2d ago

Company I have never heard about talks about a game I have never heard about and why they can't release it on Xbox because of a movement I have never heard about.

No longer giving a fuck about the modern gaming world does have its perks, I must confess.

41

u/PenileNotPenal 2d ago

We're located in Portland, Oregon

Yes!! We still believe in DEI.

We highly encourage women, people of color, and other resilient populations to apply for our open positions.

Of which, they have none.

Rainbow flag in their Bluecry profile banner. Buying their products finances "the message." Don't do it.

14

u/HonkingHoser 2d ago

Which is funny because Big Walk is just a nonsensical game. But frankly, I'm not into mediocre friendslop and walking simulators. If I want to go on a walk with my friends, we'll just do that in the real world and save ourselves the money and supporting a bunch of dumb communists.

9

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

I’m gonna bet my life savings that most Jews (and anyone non-Muslim) are gonna have a hard time getting employed at their company.

3

u/Mysterious_Tea Mod 2d ago

Don't worry bro, not a chance.

Switched to Linux last year and never looked back (I'm comfortable btw).

2

u/PenileNotPenal 2d ago

Much of Linux is heavily compromised:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMRP3G25lwc

And there are plenty of other videos by him explaining what's going on with open-source software and Linux. I hope you're not giving one cent to any of the woke projects.

2

u/TheHoovyPrince 1d ago

The publisher is from Oregon but the devs, house house, are from my city of Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne is the most progressive/left-leaning place in all of Australia and it's where the pro Palestine movement is biggest. So it's not surprising at all to see them take this woke stance.

Funny enough Melbourne is pretty similar to Portland in various ways besides politics.

-5

u/WowiiZowii 2d ago edited 2d ago

Supporting DEI is completely BS, but I respect their decision to join the Israel boycott, leaving a lot of money on the table. Israel and its supporters get no sympathy from me.

Edit: Checked and the studio is not behind those quotes but the publisher. Still bad though

127

u/CypriotGreek 2d ago

I’m genuinely convinced this is just an attempt to cling to relevancy through virtue signaling and manufacturing political drama. These people don’t actually care about Israel, Palestine, or Xbox. They just want attention, and they’ll use whatever political cause is trending to get it. Gaming is simply the vehicle they’re using to make themselves look morally superior.

66

u/AdorableDonkey 2d ago edited 2d ago

These people would unironically scream "Free Palestine" in a 5 yo party, attack the kids for not understanding, and then call the parents zionists when they get kicked out

So they're boycotting microsoft yet it runs on windows? Peculiar.

28

u/Nemesis-1984 2d ago

They should just go all in and protest capitalism by not releasing the game at all. That'll teach the powers that be!

49

u/Edheldui 2d ago

It's never not gonna be funny how these people are both against nazis to the point of seeing them everywhere and somehow support a people led by actual antisemitic terrorists. Like, there gotta be some sort of external influence, I refuse to believe one can be that much hypocritical.

21

u/SteveMartinique 2d ago

I mean if you remember 2020 there’s never been a better lesson in how easily people are propagandized weather it was covid or floyd.

12

u/tiredfromlife2019 2d ago

My comment of why they call people nazi. I would repost but I already got banned a week

https://www.reddit.com/r/GGdiscussion/s/YQYRVRSiKk

Anyway, they don't say what they say cause they care about what happened to a certain people

9

u/peanutbutterdrummer 2d ago

Yup, they call you nazis, because it's socially acceptable to "punch nazis" (and worse) - therefore it's now socially acceptable to punch you (and worse) as well - all because you disagree with them.

8

u/tiredfromlife2019 2d ago

Indeed. They want to copy inglorious basterds movie.

"Palestine will be free"

Free from what? Do these people honestly think it's a vassal state of Israel?

15

u/SheevSyndicate 2d ago

Maybe it means they will be free to spread terrorism elsewhere to western countries and even islamic ones.

29

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

Unironically yes, they think Isreal is going to war with itself.

2

u/Ubiquitous_Cacophony /r/Nioh mod 2d ago

32

u/ErikaThePaladin 95k GET | YE NOT GUILTY 2d ago

I'm so tired of the Israel/Palestine stuff. The more these people "protest" for Palestine, the less I care about it.

Honestly, I really liked Untitled Goose Game (which is still available on Xbox, btw), but I haven't cared for anything since from House House.

13

u/naevorc 2d ago

Goose game being well received went to their fucking heads. The writing was on the wall though, the studio name is so post modern and meaningless we should've seen this coming. A shame.

13

u/Mashamazzi 2d ago

They’re Australian and they have an acknowledgment of land at the end of the game, what do you expect?

I platinumed this game with my sister because it was free and I was going to actually purchase it a few days ago because it was mostly enjoyable but I’m glad I opted not to

10

u/SheevSyndicate 2d ago

Australians do the retarded land acknowledgements too?

10

u/Mashamazzi 2d ago

My brother in Christ, we invented that fucking thing lmao (I think)

2

u/BigTL13 2d ago

Yeah, originated from us in the 70s. 50 years later at least the conversation has been started about how tiring it is.

Honestly when I saw that the most pretentious 'media literate' people I knew were treating Big Walk like the second coming of Christ in video game form I decided against buying it.

13

u/Data_ 2d ago

Imagine the deep, fundamental brain damage one must have to put out a statement like this. One could explain to them a large percentage of pc's also run on Microsoft software, but what's the point.

27

u/WhereAreTheFrogs 2d ago

Since they support BDS i really hope they dont have AMD, nvidia, intel hardware or windows OS on the computers they use to develop games

11

u/rafaeleao 2d ago

I almost got this game when it came out, dodged a bullet.

27

u/ravage214 2d ago

10

u/Enruoblew 2d ago

Sometimes these studios forget their #1 priority should be making money when the video game market is so volatile and studios are either getting shut down or experiencing massive layoffs left and right.

9

u/Raikoh-Minamoto 1d ago

The pc version of your game runs on windows and it is sold in Israel, you also got gamepass money from Microsoft for your previous game 🤡 , just say that the porting cost won't be worth the forecasted sales on the platform, instead of this performative BS.

30

u/Vespinobambino 2d ago

Most of those computers be running Steam on a Windows OS.

All of this over yet another fakeocide.

8

u/redditpowermod3 1d ago edited 1d ago

Way to make sure I never buy your game by mentioning centuries old conflict in the opposite side of the world.

31

u/WhereAreTheFrogs 2d ago

Who's gonna tell them all the parts being used in PC (AMD, nvidia, intel etc) all have HQ and R&Ds in israel, which means people who will play it on PC support israel by having literally any hardware on their pc lol

Also sony has its own playstation store in israel that uses shekels

Also 2# - most computers run windows, which is microsoft operation system, if they really wanted to boycott Microsoft, they would make the game linux only.

8

u/saintboot7B 2d ago

wish someone would post that to Resetera and see what gets said in response in addition to seeing how quickly the poster gets banned perma.

24

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

News flash, these people probably wouldn’t be able to point to Isreal on a map, they just like to bitch about a non-existent genocide in order to virtue signal.

12

u/WhereAreTheFrogs 2d ago

Also, something else i forgot since the game is out on switch, which is funny to me cause the 2nd ever nintendo OFFICIAL worldwide retail is literally in tel aviv, israel.

6

u/DinosaurAlert 2d ago

I completely do not understand how people can feel this way after seeing what happened October 7th. Videos from that day were like watching a horror movie. Women being dragged away to be killed or raped.

Then they try to say they are just against the “genocide”, but these people were cheering the attacks starting the same day they happened.

The left are monsters.

4

u/Data_ 1d ago

In their minds Jews are the enemy, no matter what. So Hamas slaughtering 1200 people is a justifiable act of resistance. I've seen people on Reddit outright deny what happened and blame everything on a 'false flag' operation. Just a few days ago in my city there were pro-Palestine marches with masked people carrying 'We support Hamas' banners. Nothing was done.

5

u/OrgrimmarYogaStudio 2d ago

Never heard of a BDS but I get strange results when I start typing it in google.

6

u/studioscents 2d ago

Meh, you’re not really missing anything, just play something else. Why they felt the need to author this letter, oof.

7

u/SheevSyndicate 2d ago

With the left there is always an insatiable need to look morally superior and flaunt just how good&righteous they are. They cannot keep it in their pants. Everybody needs to know where they stand on everything, lest someone think the quiet leftist is secretly a centrist or worse, a chud!

11

u/Spiritual_Orange_737 2d ago

I would have to imagine Sony has some random investments going between Israel for whatever reason... Nintendo of America too, especially when all three are investing heavily into AI partnerships.

10

u/ThatDamnRocketRacoon 2d ago

You don't understand, guys. Keeping a game off of one platform will end the genocide. This game is that important to the world.

9

u/solo_shot1st 2d ago

It's purity Olympics. A small group of people at the studio are probably loudly anti-Israel, and they bully everyone around them, or else they will be shamed and/or fired. This snowballs until the whole studio is forced to bend the knee to this groupthink until this happens, where they start sacrificing their own game on behalf of the cause.

11

u/wildwolfcore 2d ago

What’s ironic is steam still mostly runs on windows which is also owned by Microsoft and they still decided to release on pc.

-6

u/Short-Waltz-3118 2d ago

Its not like microshit gets a cut of a sale for a game existing on pc. If its on pc, it supports windows. Thats the only practical way to sell a game

7

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

Microsoft absolutely gets revenue from Windows licensure for gaming PCs.

-8

u/Short-Waltz-3118 2d ago

The windows license is happening regardless, because pcs arent only used for gaming. And again, its the only practical way to sell a video game. Its not on thw windows store, its not on xbox, it supports windows and Linux. Thats how games get made. This isnt a gotcha

2

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

I’m sorry, but it is.

They are literally doing nothing of value to boycott Isreal, your argument is that “it’s too hard to boycott Isreal” is not a rebuttal, it’s just admitting that these people don’t care enough to put their money where their mouth is.

-2

u/Short-Waltz-3118 2d ago

Youre giving "yet you participate in society! Curious!" Vibes

98% of pc gaming happens on windows.

Microsoft does not get a cut from you releasing on windows. Microsoft and windows will remain dominant if this company didnt exist at all. So to suggest "well, you boycotting somewhere we do get a cut, but actually, youve done nothing because you released on the only viable platform in the world!" Is stupid as hell

5

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago edited 2d ago

>”You participate in society! Curious!”

Just because you put hypocrisy in quotes, does not mean it is no longer hypocrisy lmao.

Like 99% of the revenue they’ll attain will be tangentially touched by a corporation that deals with Isreal, the fact that you think this is some grand stand is hilariously moronic.

-1

u/Short-Waltz-3118 2d ago

Its like yoyr suggesting that if you cant do 100% boycott, you cant do any. It doesnt make any sense. Theres no cut going to windows. Its not released on a window store front. Supporting the only OS out there is just what games do on pc. To suggest you cant boycott Microsoft xbox without only releasing your game on obscure basket weaving OS does not mean they are hypocrites. But you really want to "own" these devs for having different moral stance than you, who knows why

3

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

>It’s like yoyr suggesting that if you cant do 100% boycott, you cant do any.

That’s a nice strawman, please feel free to link the comment where I’ve said that?

I don’t particularly give moral credence to slop activism, which is what this is, you’re the type of person who would criticize capitalism and vote for the DSA but then salivate at the newest iPhone every year.

>There’s no cut going to Windows.

Again, this is stupid, VS Studio was used to develop this game, ChatGPT is partially owned by Microsoft, they probably used Outlook, Azure, and Teams to talk to each other, please spare me your nonsense, these devs do not have a moral backbone, they’re just virtue signaling, as stated. The fact that you think them not releasing on Xbox is some grand exemplary of moral fortitude is utterly pathetic.

-1

u/Short-Waltz-3118 2d ago

boycott one thing

huh, what a dumb ass, you didnt boycott the other thing this company made

actually thats a strawman, I never said they are hypocrites for boycotting one thing and not the other by the company, even knowing you cant release a pc game to any success without including the os with 99% market share

The absolute state of you

you must use iPhone

Speaking of made up statements, ive never owned an iPhone nor do I get particular excited by any phone in the year of our lord 2020+6

They are putting their money where their mouth is though? They are losing out on profit.

2

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

You think losing an incalculably small convenient amount of money by not releasing on the worst performing console platform (whilst still releasing your previous game on it and directly funding the publisher of said platform to make the game) is what was meant with the phrase “putting your money where your mouth is”?

-3

u/suspect_scrofa 2d ago

So if you get rid of your speculative adjectives and the non-related devs' behavior in the past, you essentially typed "You think losing an amount of money by not releasing the game on a platform is what I meant by the phrase 'putting your money where your mouth is'?".

Which yea, I do think you just typed that out and aren't making sense.

3

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

Apparently you can’t read?

>You think losing an incalculably small convenient* amount of money…

Somehow these are “speculative adjectives”, the amount of cope is unreal lmao

-3

u/suspect_scrofa 2d ago

Yea those are speculative and your personal opinion. You could do a back of the napkin estimation. 0.01% of 120M Xbox users, with the game being $20 is a quarter million bucks. Small, incalculable, and convenient are just subjective.

They are putting money where their mouth is.

And the hilarious thing is, apparently this took them like 4-5 6 fucking years to develop.

A lot of disappointment expressed in that post...

Looks more like crocodile's tears to me.

The fact they want to blame BDS' boycott is also laughable.

I look forward to laughing at the dozens of concurrent players on Steam

u/AzhdarianHomie 2d ago

I see no sales for their game, Big Woke, in their future

u/Joe_Cums_Lately 1d ago

So more lefties crying for literal terrorists?

3

u/AgitatedFly1182 2d ago

That’s quite sad, I really liked Untitled Goose Game

I'm gonna be real. Palestine will never be free. There'll never be a two state solution. They'll continue to be bombed by Israel, Palestinians will attack back. America and Iran will continue to arm both sides. Releasing a random video game on Xbox or not won't change this. I don't care about Israel or Palestine.

This should probably be posted over in KiA2 as well...

If the developers are willing to put their money where their mouth is and potentially lose sales, then who cares? Some business don't like gay wedding cakes. Others don't like ethno-fascism, apartheid, or genocide. Different strokes and all that.

u/WowiiZowii 2d ago

>so-called “genocide”

Are you from Israel by any chance, OP?

5

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

Nope.

-4

u/WowiiZowii 2d ago

Then you are lost in the sauce.

5

u/HSR47 2d ago

No, just rational.

3

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

Ditto.

I think I’m just not easily swayed by terrorist propaganda, sorry.

u/WowiiZowii 1d ago

You clearly are, just not the ones you think. Also I don't think ditto means what you think it means lol

u/CommunistsAreCancer 1d ago

I don’t recall chanting from the river to the sea or flying the Pali flag, so I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one chief.

u/WowiiZowii 1d ago

You're really not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

Imagine having an opinion on which group of children should die.

16

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

I can’t wait till they boycott any company selling to Palestine for (actually) targeting Isreali kids.

-7

u/RealtorsOfPalestine 2d ago

Right so you've decided what kids you want to get bombed. Fine.

The only serious solution to this, or anything in that region, is the full colonization of the area by the West.

6

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

That’s literally what the British did post-WW2, how did that work out?

-3

u/RealtorsOfPalestine 2d ago

Poorly, because they left.

4

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

They left because they made a mess.

-1

u/RealtorsOfPalestine 2d ago

Right it's so much better now

2

u/CommunistsAreCancer 2d ago

It quite literally is.

u/RealtorsOfPalestine 1d ago

It's a black hole that sucks in money and blood, and spits out nothing except the occasional bit of terror.

Devil’s advocate, Xbox is turning itself into a PC brand and storefront anyway. If you asked Microsoft, they’d say it is on Xbox

-11

u/Kurigohan-Kamehameha 2d ago

It’s so easy to boycott a country committing war crimes, you don’t have to align yourself with the victims just because you’re boycotting the perpetrators

-21

u/Periuga_vamshot 2d ago

Tbh they actually did something, not just screamed on twitter

16

u/WhereAreTheFrogs 2d ago

they didnt tho, cause the game is still released on PC which most players using Windows (microsoft product) and has parts from companies that support and have HQs in israel (nvidia, amd, intel). Nintendo 2nd ever worldwide official retail shop is in israel (they released the game on switch) etc. They didnt do anything, thats the point, if they wanted to really be against israel theyd have no platform to release their game on.

-8

u/Periuga_vamshot 2d ago

4

u/VirtueSignalingApp 2d ago
