This comic book panel from 1999 managed to predict the modern state of fictional female characters and beauty πŸ’€

Post image

It's from volume 13 of Cerebus, the Aardvark which is part of the "Going Home" arc.

It's creator, Dave Sim, was one of the only comic book writers in history that was critical of the feminist movement and he once said in an essay that if feminists get too much control over the comic book industry, there would be a huge push for cencorship and that the way women would be portrayed will be changed for the worst. He was later shunned and forgotten from the comic book industry because of this and other similar statements.

They tell us art has always been woke, but decline to mention the countless artists quietly cancelled over the last thirty years for being too based. When you read/watch old media you can see that these men used to be everywhere and the world was better for it.

Notch and Scott Cawthon being examples.

Married with Children would be considered a hate crime today.

Like most, he didn't really predict as much as notice what was already bubbling below the surface.Β

Dave Sim said he did research on the feminist movement when writing the Mother's & Daughter's arc for Cerebus, the Aardvark and he published an essay that took up half of the 3rd volume of the arc called "Reads" that went over his findings: some of what he said has aged really well like Feminists destroying what men created (Halo, Dragon age, just AAA western gaming in general) and some of it felt random like his claim that feminism contributes to overpopulation (It actually contributes to underpopulation)

It could contribute to overpopulation if you include feminist inclination to allow mass immigration.

People should read "Harrison Bergeron" : https://archive.org/stream/HarrisonBergeron/Harrison%20Bergeron_djvu.txt

Smart people get devices clamped to their heads to stop them thinking and beautiful people have to wear masks to hide their beauty.

It's 100% where we are headed.

It's funny, because Kurt Vonnegut (the author of 'Harrison Bergeron') was actually a socialist and knowing this it becomes clear that the story is mean to be a sort of mockery of the idea of an 'ubermensch' who overcomes the oppression of equality. However, regardless of his beliefs, he managed to produce an accidentally true prophecy because in reality the people who believe in socialism and similar bad ideas we are experiencing the effects of right now really are so genuinely insane that'd it'd take a Harrison to beat them.

In Cerebus, the Aardvark after the Cirinist takeover of Iest, Cirinist leaders must wear outfits similar to Burikas so they don't offended people over their beauty.

Posting an ai answer to a question I asked about an ancient Greek play as I dont have time to type it up:

The primary ancient Greek tale depicting women passing laws is the 391 BCE comedy Assemblywomen (Ekklesiazousai) by Aristophanes. In this satirical play, the protagonist Praxagora organizes Athen women to disguise themselves as men, infiltrate the Assembly, and vote to transfer control of the government to women.

Once in power, the women enact a series of radical, proto-communist reforms:

They ban private wealth and establish a communal fund to meet all basic needs.

They enforce sexual equity, requiring citizens to sleep with older or less attractive partners before choosing younger ones.

They abolish lawsuits by eliminating debt and private property.

They promote shared parental responsibilities, with children raised by the community rather than knowing their biological fathers.

Doesn't this sound familiar?

It's amazing what you find in history.

How did the saying goes? "The more things change, the more it stays the same" Our forefathers clocked the tendencies of humanity centuries ago, and we just ignored their advice thinking we know better. Tradition is indeed the solution to problems we forgot we had.

Well, a lot of arguments the wokesters/feminists use are really just wokewashed versions of religious modesty and women policing/being mean to each other. Once you realize they're younger versions of those old women who criticized women for being prettier and catching the attention of their husbands it makes a lot of sense.

100% this. They have the exact same puritanical mindset and fundamentalist level religious devotion. They utilize shame, manipulation, and 'concern' on 'behalf' of others while essentially trying to control people because of their own shortcomings and self loathing.

I've seen it commented before and I'll echo it again, envy is the root of a lot of wokester/social justice rhetoric.

I'm not afraid to admit it took me a little while to figure this one out.

I'd say OP look up Viz Magazine Millie Tant for something that was worryingly an accurate prediction of the woke era.

I dunno. It still gives the "womyn" cleavage.

Nowadays, we don't even get that.

Damn, they even got the incomprehensible spelling of anything with the word β€œman” in it.

I just had a stonner realization:

What if women are the ugly sex and we have been lied to our whole lives? Maybe us men are the fair sex after all. Look at the Lion and the Peacock for example, the males are the fabolous ones.

3

u/ConsiderationOk9004 1d ago

Well, in ancient Greece and Rome, men were the fair sex.

What's the issue?

3

u/supermarioplush220 1d ago

I don't know the exact issue but it's halfway through volume 13 when Jaka has a quick dream while waiting for Cerebus.

He became pretentious and insufferable after his divorce, which probably had more to do with his fading away. This was before cancel culture became prominent.

I did some research on Dave Sim, and the timeframe with when Dave Sim started vocalizing his anti feminist beliefs matches up closer to when the feminist movement started receiving criticism in the early 1990s than when he divorced in 1983. I've also seen fax documents of his confessions over the years and he only blames himself for his divorce and not Deni.
