[Reverse psychology] Castlevania devs admit they deliberately made characters hot and expected the "horny" fan art". It's a choice, actually. We're pretty proud of it"

Anything and anyone except straight men.

Anything and anyone except straight men.

Is ok, there is still ZZZ, AK:E, and many other games that will scratch that itch very thoroughly.

But Castlevania used to have the sauce.

Oh no doubt! That succubus from SOTN! The OG art of her was so spicy, that Konami had to censor it from the top(you only got her head) and iirc, even the sprite!

People thinking that "sexuality" is the angle that matters in this culture war are mistaken. It's not about sexuality in general, it's about male sexuality as in appealing to the male majority in gaming.

See for example the double standard of "does jason show full hog?" or "Leon is so HOT!" with gaming journos.

There were even older examples too. Like

The ginger girl looks like a man and they call it "hot"...

And the usual suspects are already trying to pretend people are stupid or blind, giving as an example that single promotional artwork of her where she actually looks pretty. Yeah no shit she looks hot there, but her in-game portrait looks nothing like that.

Yeah I got the castlevania sub popped up on my feed and they’re in major damage control mode lol.

I mean Rose isn’t ugly per se but she’s definitely got that more defined jaw and broad shoulders.

The concepts of rule 34 and people who are horny for vampires are old as hell, it's good for them that they are proud of their job but... that's the most obvious thing ever.

Safe horny in an exploration game wearing the Castlevania name like a skinsuit. Creepy.

I mean i would not call her hot per say, however she is not made to be ugly, so im neutral overall with that game, idk about gameplay side though

I stand corrected, i just saw the X post in the comments and the concept art, she was definitely manlyfied

They are talking about the dudes (mainly Trevor)

She is mostly androgynous. When the game was first announced people couldn’t initially agree if the character was a man or a woman.

But this article is all about men. These types of people would never make female characters sexy.

Dont forget race swapped Carmilia (who’s canonically Austrian).
