Prepping for LSAT

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in my second year of undergrad in Canada and am planning on applying to law school after I graduate. I’m trying to figure out when I should start preparing for the LSAT and when I should actually write it.

Would it be too early to start studying during the summer after second year, or would it make more sense to wait until the summer after third year? Ideally, I want to give myself enough time to prepare properly without starting so early that I forget everything by the time I write it.

For those of you who have already taken the LSAT or are
currently preparing for it, when did you start studying, how long did you study for, and when did you end up writing it?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Started in June after my second year, wrote in November and that felt about right. Gave me room for a retake if needed without cramming it all into the summer before applications

If you're the type who burns out on long term prep, waiting til after third year works fine too. But having the score in hand early is a weight off your shoulders

I wouldn’t even think about studying for this test until at bare minimum senior year of undergrad. Your GPA is super important in the admissions decision, so make sure that if you’re getting anything less than straight As, you don’t need to study. It will pay huge dividends later. Also, law schools are gearing more towards students with work experience, so make sure to keep that in mind :)
