Discussion Make it make sense

I’m going to say this, and I know I’m going to get absolutely cooked for it, but the days of LSU being an elite football program might be over.

You hire and pay back-to-back big-name coaches in Brian Kelly and Lane Kiffin, spend MILLIONS in NIL, and what do you have to show for it? Meaningless bowl games and disappointment.

At what point do we stop talking about LSU like a national championship contender and start questioning what this program has become?

Make it make sense.

JFC please. The games we have lost, have been to the fucking wire. It’s year 1. It’s a portal team mixed with leftovers. We have injuries to our best fucking players.

Does it hurt to lose? Absolutely. Fucking worse with our “fans” acting like this.

True. I have to keep reminding myself of this. It’s not like we’re dog shit and get our asses handed to us. We haven’t lost a game by double digits like other sec teams have

Game 6 with a new coach and a new QB and you’re ready to throw in the towel huh?

I don’t understand that either. Baker is a good ass DC and I’m happy we have him

Y’all are hilarious. I was at the game. UK is a good team, the crowd was pumped, this is Kiffin year 1, the sun will come up tomorrow. College football rules. Geaux tigers.

In this era of college football, you can most definitely win in year one. Especially when you spend $50 million on your roster.
He will never have as much talent on his roster than he currently has.
On top of that, he is not a good recruiter.

$50M when you're rebuilding a roster is different from $50M when you've already got a team

I expected us to drop some games this year. You know I’m not expecting a national title run, but that was a game we had to have.

We’ve lost on the last play of the game against a top ten team and a should have been ranked but wasn’t team I think we’ll be ok

My two cents is that our team or our “brand” seem to rest on their laurels but it’s not like we have a cornucopia of laurels to rest on anyway, our best years were Sabans leftovers and we had our Cinderella year in 19. I just don’t think we’re consistent enough. It doesn’t help that conferences are over saturated these days. In my mind, the goal is to be as consistent as Georgia. It’s a miserable existence to think we’ll win a natty every single year but being as consistent as Georgia is , shit I’ll take that deal

Being as consistent as Georgia is a damn high bar

Georgia went 8-5 Smart’s first year

And 0-2 against Coach O never forget

Well sure it is, not asking for a Saban dynasty. Just asking for consistency. Consistency is also how you win the recruiting battle

First year rebuild. Relax. 9-10 wins is exactly what was expected from this team.

You think we beat bama, Texas, or Tennessee? Hell even Auburn since it’s on the road? There’s no way in hell we get to 9-10 wins this season

We have the talent we just need to get our shit together. Assuming no more major injuries. Depth is the biggest issue outside of Leavitts accuracy.

You’re six games in, chump

These days suck but until you live through the Dinardo years you’re just a Walmart fan.

It’s going to get better

We dont have a bad record and its the first year of lane give him time its not natty or bust the 1st year

We gave this game away tonight. We had the ball twice with under 4 minutes left and couldn't run out the clock. Not to mention they also missed two field goals at the end of the game before they made the one to tie it.

Plus that play call in overtime with a mobile QB.... wtf was that.

Man, did we really truly believe it was gonna be an Indiana kind of situation, first year win 11, make the playoff & a natty 2nd? Like calm down have another bourbon 🥃. I was not expecting a lot this year even with Sam I'm not sure what do to Levitt coming in. We would have been better off with Mestemaker. It will be ok and we will be back in the natty race cause we all know Sark and his playing not to lose will never win one

Edit: wrong about first year Indiana

u/BstnIrshGy 9d ago

Last year was Cignetti’s second year at Indiana not first

The defense made mistakes but literally offenses shot themselves in the foot that’s been the same story inconsistent offense good defense that often need to bail them but when injuries come it mostly hits our defense. This loss is on the offense the uncertainty of winning is on the offense

Lane has never one a conference or national championship as a head coach, right?
