Lance mains where are you?

I'm a Gunlance / Hunting Horn main that enjoys to play multiplayer lobbies and sending random SOSs out and recently i've noticed that i haven't seen a Lance user in a few days (no exaggeration). So i decided to investigate and join a random lobby that had 62 players from different parts of world. Not...a...single...Lance user !!! I'd post a screen shot but i'd have blurry all the names, but believe me, i couldn't find a single one ! Granted there was also only 3 other Gunlance players besides me, but STILL !

I hope ya'll are well wherever you are, please let us know if your stranded somewhere and you can't comeback to the hub, i'll do my best to search for your SOS! o7

Much love. ❤️

First timing lance after a miserable defeat using CB. Keep noticing that my pokes keep going further and further away from Teos head and that lance doesn't have a great turning radius while poking

Also still confused on claw attacks and in the video I also tried doing the leaping trust hop back and repeat but forgot how to do it. (was nailing it in training area)

Not trying to be speed runner level just a good hunter with a poking stick (First Toaster Run With Poking Stick)

Hi can anyone share some tips for a new build ? Looking something more updated since i still use a 7 months old build maybe something that has decent dps but also some QoL

Monster hunter wilds

so... as the title suggests I've got a wee question about the right responses to use against incoming attacks when using the lance.

more specifically this question kind of sits more in the line of uncharged DCT's as a counter response vs going for a perfect guard into a return thrust or GRT.

the amount of charge a DCT has a pretty massive impact on how much damage it can inflict but it also represents a very strong defensive tool when it lands, letting you quickly poke back damage into a monster as it attacks (a good example I can think of would be Arkveld's sweeping chain blackflip or Steve's side to side leg sweeps).

on the other hand, perfect guard into a return thrust or GRT has a ton of protection (admittedly more chip) and perhaps a more reliable way to get "charged" return damage and getting back into the fight?

do people have a preference for their "fast" response counter tool out of these two options? would it be better to save DCT's for when you've got a fully charged (or even 2 stage charged) return option? or would it be better to perfect block and use the counter options there for faster uptime?

edit: cheers for the clarification folks!

I'm trying to understand what the generic "Lance needs to be stronger/better/flashier" argument that ive read/heard people make is. Why do you think it has such a low player representation. Is it really just because it doesnt have as many fancy lights as longsword (for example)?

Can someone explain what it needs?
Why would something simple like a flat (for example) 30% damage increase across the board not solve it?
Maybe a new Skill Gem that causes your perfect blocks to deal damage based on the weight/impact/damage of the attack you blocked? Encouraging you to perfect guard more and focus less on the counter gameplay?

Im asking because I'm not a pro and I am trying to learn.

So. Yesterday I fought Rey Dau finally. I was so excited and scared out of my mind that I forgot to block. But when I calmed down I blocked 9 of its fully charged blasts.

Damn, I love Lance. Makes me feel like both the unstoppable force and the immovable object

I’m only a Lance main in rise, is big poking SnS good in wilds

I started playing lance recently and I've been having so much fun, I tried other weapons aside from my main a few times but they never fully clicked, but this one felt incredible and I'm probably gonna main lance in ascendance because of it. Also for this curious my previous main is sword and shield.

I'm playing monster hunter Sunbreak and I play lance could anyone give me a good build and how to get it

I'm learning Lance for the first time and I keep carting because I'll take 50% of my health bar as damage, then while attempting to move away from the monster to heal I'll get hit again and go down. Seikret pickup feels unreliable and just hopping away feels like it takes forever, especially if I have the monster's attention.

I've had some success just dash attacking around the monster, but that doesn't really work on monsters like Gogmazios in my experience, since they enjoy creating AOE rings around themselves.

Edit: Thanks for all the great tips everyone! Soon I will become a strong and brave lance main who doesn't run from anything.

So long story short I'm starting a new playthrough for MH wilds on PC and want to try a new weapon. I'm heavily thinking about trying lance out, but still on the fence about it. Is there anyone willing to give tips about the weapon and or trying to help me out? I have another account on Playstation, but trying to move away from it. All help is appreciated 😎

I took almost 6 months out of playing Wilds, but I was doing some 1-1 Lance coaching with a friend the whole time and now Im inspired to go back. On the first few days I was rusty as hell, but my skills are now returning.

This hunt was not 100% clean, I got hit twice and made a few mistakes and its just 2 seconds faster than my previous PB, so I wont post it, but I found a very cool piece of tech that I might make a video about.

So I was curious as I love both styles of play and was wondering if there was a build for armor that would work for both sets. I have builds for both just was trying to do a quick swap in between during multiple monster quests.

Here I thought I was a Lance main but I could never figure out why my at arkveld hunts are going 30 minutes long and I've been comfy doing 80ish damage per single thrust. Didn't know this wasn't normal since I was playing the usual way I've been playing in risebreak. Blocking when appropriate, stabbing twice and wide sweeping, and finishing with a charged counter.

I have been watching videos recently and I just realized I'm missing out on a huge part of optimal damage from double counter thrust... A few practice rounds and I just found it's easy to do. I thought before that it was a reward for perfect blocking and I knee I suck at strict timings with the Lance switch skill in risebreak.

So my question is does it count as one counter attack or is the entire animation protected by super armor? I'm assuming one or the other is why full guard and guard up is no longer recommended

Cut it REALLY close, because my muscle memory is Wilds lance.

So, I asked my friends and AI as well on what should be my next weapon since I've only really played SnS on World, Rise, and Wilds.

I used to play GS on MHFU but that was when I was a kid.

I really need help because I don't know how I'm going to start or where I'm going to start. My friends said the lance play style is close to how I play SnS.

A support damage dealer (I use HunterPie and have been consistent Top 1 or 2 in damage while keeping the team alive with heals). This is easy for SnS as this weapon is very mobile and versatile.

Any advice on how to start my Lance journey would be great!

Excited to be one of the WALLS!

I'll have a full video on my channel tomorrow of how rough the hunt was, but it ended up being 29'48"13.
