Guitar beginning

I have had a guitar for a year now and I wanted to learn, but it is so hard and I did not bother changing the strings because I was very scared they would just snap and hurt my arms. Should I start again? And if I start again , how should I begin? Because the guitar lessons in my city are very expensive and I can't afford them. I want to play Indian songs as well as some good songs to

I just started playing a couple months ago and while it's very difficult, it's also incredibly rewarding when I get a chord change or a song right. I say, give it another go.

Enjoy every little victory! Of those who even stick with learning guitar 90% will never be especially great (myself certainly included) but the enjoyment comes from just playing. Becoming just “not awful” is a worthy goal, and is deeply satisfying. Celebrate getting that smooth chord transition or whatever that you’ve been working on for a few weeks. Only compare yourself to how you were last week or last month.

There’s a gazillion free online guitar lessons, in every style. Do people even still do them in person?

It's not that easy to learn, some lessons to are too fast paced and aren't beginner level at all😭😭

You are correct in that guitar is not easy to learn, but it’s totally doable. Guitar players aren’t especially smart or gifted, just stubbornly dedicated. The standard recommendation is Justin Guitar on YouTube. Watch in order; his first lesson is literally how to take your guitar out of the box. Lauren Bateman is also good for starting from the very beginning, and she is focused on teaching easy 2 or 3 chord songs. Or at least the 3 chord beginner versions that sound pretty good. Guitar is a journey done one step at a time, and I would keep your goals and expectations modest or it can quickly become overwhelming. Practice every day with a purpose, have fun, and only compare yourself to how you were last week.

YouTube has lots of good beginner free tutorials. Look for Lauren Bateman. She has very good beginner’s lessons there. I’ve been using her for the last year. I started at the young age of 74.
Also, lots of great tutorials on changing strings, basic guitar setup and overall guitar maintenance.

Hope you get into it and have as much fun as I am.

This is a link to a set of canned bullets that I have developed and like to send to new/new-ish/returning/wandering/lost/struggling guitar players.

If I pasted this in for you, it is because somewhere in there is something that I think is relevant to your post. Not all of it will be. I leave it to you to pick out what I felt was relevant.  🙂 Even the stuff not relevant to your specific post might very well be helpful eventually anyway.

Enjoy!!!

Take a look at Justin Guitar, he’s very good at teaching the basics. As for the stings, do they actually need changing? If it was bought new a year ago and not played much they should be fine.

Thank you !! , the strings don't need changing but they need to get tuned and the first time I tuned last year the 6th string snapped and cut my finger , and I'm so scared about it now that I don't want to tune the guitar 😭😭 I know it's silly though

YouTube has everything you could ever need in guitar instruction, including how to restring and use a tuner. Justin Guitar and Lauren Bateman are great teachers and they show how. Tuners that have a spring clamp on to the head of the guitar can be had for under $20, and you absolutely need one.
