But when you're trying to improve your main goal should be "change". As in, changing for the better. This rate of change can increase the more experimental you go about the sounds you make 🤯

Looking for a Serious English Practice Partner (Intermediate to Advanced). Speaking, Writing & new vocabulary

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for someone whose English is at an intermediate to upper-intermediate level and who is working towards advanced proficiency.
I want us to take learning seriously and help each other improve our English through structured daily or weekly activities, rather than just having casual conversations.
Here’s what I have in mind:
• Daily or weekly assignments: We assign each other small tasks to complete, such as writing a paragraph, learning new vocabulary, reading an article, or preparing a short speech.

**• Reading and discussion:** We read journal articles, news articles, essays, or other interesting materials and discuss them together to improve our comprehension, critical thinking, and speaking skills.

**• Vocabulary building:** We learn new words and expressions, write our own sentences using them, and practise incorporating them into conversations.

**• Speaking practice:** We have regular voice calls to discuss what we’ve read, share our opinions, and practise expressing ourselves clearly and naturally.

**• Writing practice:** We exchange short essays, paragraphs, or journal entries and correct each other’s grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and other mistakes.

**• Accountability:** We check in with each other, review our progress, and make sure we complete the tasks we agreed on.

I’m looking for someone who is motivated, consistent, patient, and comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback. We don’t need to be at exactly the same level, but we should both be committed to improving.
Ideally, we could practise a little every day and have a longer discussion a few times a week. I’d love for us to build a routine and gradually work towards advanced English together.
If you’re interested in genuinely improving your English and helping someone else do the same, please comment or send me a message!
Let’s keep each other accountable and grow together! 😊

Looking for People to Practise Spoken English

Hey guys! I’m looking for people who are serious about improving their spoken English. Are there any groups or communities I could join where people regularly practise English through voice calls or conversations? I’d love to connect with others who have the same goal. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Why you sound rushed when you speak English, and a 2-minute fix

I taught English for 10 years. The most common problem I heard was not grammar. It was breath.

Most learners try to say a whole sentence in one breath. By the end, the words run together.

Native speakers breathe every 5 to 7 words. Often fewer.

Say this out loud. Breathe at each |

Learning English | is a journey | that requires patience | and dedication.

You cannot expect | to become fluent | overnight.

Now say it again with no breaths. Hear the difference?

This week, take any paragraph you are reading. Mark a | every 5 words or so. Read it out loud twice.

Happy to answer questions about it in the comments.

How can I improve my English from A2 without a tutor?

Hi everyone!
My current English level is A2, and I want to improve it through self-study. In the future, I’m planning to take the IELTS exam.
I can’t afford a tutor right now, so I want to study using YouTube, websites, and free online resources.
For those of you who have learned English on your own, what resources would you recommend? How did you improve your grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, and speaking skills?
I’d especially love to hear from people who started at A2 and made significant progress through self-study.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! 😊

I built Foneli, a free app for practicing English pronunciation — looking for testers and honest feedback!

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a Systems Engineering student, and I've been building Foneli, a mobile app designed to help people practice English pronunciation through phoneme-based exercises and pronunciation feedback.

Foneli is now publicly available for Android and iOS, and it's free to download! 🎉

I'm sharing it here because I'd love to get feedback from English learners and people who enjoy trying new apps. I'm still working to improve the experience, and feedback from real users would mean a lot to me.

Here's what I'd love your help with:

  • 🎤 Pronunciation accuracy: Does the feedback seem accurate and helpful when you practice?
  • 🎨 Design and usability: Is the app intuitive? Can you navigate the exercises easily?
  • 🐛 Bugs and technical issues: Does anything crash, behave unexpectedly, or feel broken?

Try Foneli here:

After trying it, please leave a comment telling me what worked, what didn't, and what you'd change. Even a few minutes of testing would help!

I'm the developer behind Foneli, and I'm happy to answer questions about the app or how I built it.

Thanks for helping an independent developer make this project better! 🙌

I watch a lot of English content but still struggle to speak

I want to improve my English and become fluent.

I watch around 2 English movies a week and have watched over 70 movies so far. I've also watched shows like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot and Chernobyl. I listen to rock music in English too.

But even after all this, I still struggle with speaking. I can understand English pretty well, but I find it hard to express my thoughts naturally.

What should I do to improve my speaking skills? I'd love to hear your advice.

B1 speaker struggling with English content– I can speak well, but native dialogue trips me up. Any advice?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently around a B1 level. When it comes to speaking, I feel pretty confident—I can hold a conversation, tell stories, and express my thoughts on almost any topic using the vocabulary I already know.

However, watching series ,movies and any content in English is a completely different story. I keep hitting a wall because of unfamiliar words, slang, and cultural context that I just don't catch. Even when I understand the individual words, the speed and connected speech often throw me off.
