No spoilers in titles Spoiler for last episode Spoiler
Can we edit the last episode? So, the scene where Gary "cooks" Gideon a French meal, let's end the show on that and roll the credits. Happy endings for everyone and they all get what they wanted. The end. Director's Fan's cut to the show.

But I was so excited to see what they were going to do with booster gold, I enjoy when a show ends on a cliffhanger type like that. It's almost like they are still on their adventures

I feel like Thawne would've been the final bad guy for them and the one behind the Time Cops that arrested the Legends. It would've gone back to his conversation with Sara in the bar with the whole "Time cannot and should not change" thing that he was preaching to her.

I hate those endings where everyone goes their separate ways. The show spends seven seasons showing us that the Legends are a found family and how much they need each other, and then, in the end, they all split up? Nah!
And some of them don't even get what they wanted. Gwyn ends up alone. Spooner lives with her mom, but in a time she doesn't even remember. Zari goes back to a life she's spent two years trying to change.
I've always imagined the show ending with the Legends heading off on another adventure, leaving us to imagine what happens next. So, in a way, I think I prefer the cliffhanger.

I agree the cliffhanger ending is better and there are a lot of characters who didn't actually have a happy ending, but the idea of them going their separate ways, while depressing, isn't antiethical for the show imo. Yes, they're a found family. But they're also a rotating cast. Most of the legends have already gone their own way by season 7, and if the show had carry on, this group probably would've too eventually (albeit, not all at once). Yes, they need each other... Until they don't. And that's the point. It's a place where they go to find themselves, and afterwards they leave. Kind of like what Nate said about friendship after Ray left:
"It's a weird thing, friendship; it starts off because you need each other. But if you do it right, and help each other grow, you need each other... Less."
Now I think that's not as simple irl, but I do think it's the philosophy the show went with.

Yes just as a child needs a parent less and less because they are doing it right. The love never leaves nor does the want to see each other and their will likely always be a small amount of need but they will grow and leave

Yes but they still gather once a week so it was perfect. Just like how eventually kids move out but they still all come back together.

Except with friends we all know how it works. First you see each other once a week, then after a month or two, someone has "a thing", then children happen, then other things... and at the end there's only Gary 😭

I think the perfect ending would literally just be the Waverider arrives back and they all head towards it or even on the waverider literally just cut off the arrest. Whilst at first it annoyed me I do kinda just pretend that but didn’t happen anyway- denial works for me here lol. However I have come to appreciate what they were trying to do as the cliffhanger could have been enough to bump another season along but unfortunately not, although everyone did get happy endings before that so I think it was a good play.

Those endings aren’t happy at all, they just seem that way at first glance. The true ending should be the last episode but cut off right before they walk through the doors of the wave rider
