I don't hate them. When I was at Tech in the late 70's early 80's I didn't get a sense of a strong rivalry. NLU (ULM) on the other hand was somewhat of a rival.

As someone who went to Tech and is from Lafayette, damn you hate Lafayette for real huh?

Other than New Orleans, which stands on its own as a cultural force that eclipse the state as a whole, Lafayette IS the hub of Creole and Cajun culture. It is being gentrified as all growing metropolises are, but no other non-New Orleans City even has room to stand to represent Louisiana culture. Unless you count political corruption, maybe then Baton Rouge and Shreveport have room to talk (and ironically New Orleans still wears a heavy crown).

Acadiana is also the biggest economic region between New Orleans and Houston. Johnston Street is hellish because it was never meant to accommodate such a large populace. But you're right, it is hellish street. Good luck turning left.

Lafayette also hosts Festival International ("de Louisiane", although most people leave off the part. I guess it's a theme haha) the largest free international music and arts festival in the country. Acts and patrons fly in from all around the globe and entry is completely free. Any Tech students should absolutely make the trip, its a great experience.

Pretty funny to me to take shots at Lafayette as a city from the perspective of Ruston, when basically everyone there drives 30 mins to "lil bro Monroe" to do pretty much anything.

Josh Guillory was/is an absolute demon and disgrace, I'll give you that. He and his constituent's rise has made Lafayette a worse city. He is a clown, name and shame him.

I think it's more sports rivalry smack talk "hate" , I don't have any actual issues with Lafayette the city.

It not. Just sharing my thoughts like the blog is. Lafayette is great, idt it needs to get dragged. I think out of state Tech student should take a trip down if they can, it's a bastion for Louisiana culture.

I lived in Ruston for 8 years. Tech should stick to the sports in the smack talk lol.

Blog post is more about ULL than Lafayette it sel. Any Lafayette criticism that they wrote seems to be in response to ULL fans clowning on Ruston

Yeah I read the whole post. The end was pretty bad and not about sports. That's why I replied.
