Admissions lol what…

Just a post to show that a game of admission is unknown, so hang in there guys!
Long story short, I applied last cycle and got into Stern, Cornell among $$$$ at some T20. For personal reasons, I defer. But I figure while waiting I might throw in one more school this year too, which is Oxford (I also got into Cambridge and LBS, if that matters). Got invited to interview 5 days after the R1 deadline. Personally, I felt like it went super well, and I think I nailed all the questions. But I got dinged when the result came out yesterday. Not saying Oxford it’s easy to get into, but it was definitely a surprise for sure. I thought I would get in.

and even if you land a job, your WLB and other factors are a gamble too

UK universities are a fraud man. Dont go. Except maybe LBS. You dodged a bullet.

Oxford outsources interviews to consulatants, and they are just stupid, behind the scenes they have their own quotas and deliverables. It's all luck whom you get assigned to 😔

Honestly I also didn’t get in after a somewhat decent interview as well. My interviewer was not very friendly and didnt really seem interested in a conversation.

I hope you mean “Oxfuhhd” like that one idiot a couple days ago.

It’s so random man. That’s what I’m finding out.

There’s an old friend I know that worked their way down the list of T20, got one HSW interview and the interviewer apparently told him to his face that he was making it and not to worry. Denied for all the other M7/T15 and got an invite to interview with a UC college floating around 15-20 depending on the list.

Like, how? How do you get HSW then blank stares and bad news until you get to the bottom? Just random.

In fairness he’s an unconventional candidate too, no IB/MBB.

Any tips on preparing for interviews especially for Cambridge and LBS..did you hire any consulting service for application process?

nope, a consultant is not needed, unless you don’t have the time to do it properly. I mean, you just need to go over your essays and resume twice to know your story well and that’s it. Super smooth process for me.
