PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE MAGNIFICENCE OF SWEET VANILLA AND PECANS

13

u/danana_split1 24d ago

r/UsernameChecksOut you are one sunshiney mf

22

u/thestashattacked 24d ago

It's a bit of a banger. It's what you go for when you want ice cream, but you want something that has a bit more sophistication.

Basically, if chocolate and vanilla are your standard good dudes with good manners, butter pecan is also wearing a bespoke 3 piece suit with the most coiffed mustache known to man.

Chocolate is giving you a bouquet of roses he got at the store. Butter pecan picked two black eyed Susan out of the field of wildflowers, put one in your hair, and put the other in his lapel because it reminded him of you.

Chocolate is a dime a dozen.

Butter pecan is a gentleman with a sense of whimsy.

Sounds gay, I'm in.

My husband checks my period app when I start getting snappy and will get something chocolate flavored and store in the fridge lmao

29

u/foxesinsoxes 24d ago

Good husband, he deserves a head pat.

204

u/Golden_Enby 25d ago

He probably tracks it, too, so that he can play an active part in her health. If you've been with someone long enough and actually pay attention to them, you start to memorize these things. A lot of women have excruciating periods that require a lot of down time, so a good partner should be wiling to step up to help out when need be.

Apps like Natural Cycles allows you to share data with a partner so that the partner can be better informed and participate.

8

u/KinkyChico 24d ago

See, I have done this. The thing that catches me though is that I've never been so forward about it. I will do subtle things, not even MENTIONING Shark Week. I've never had the audacity to just come out and say it "Hey, you're probably on your period. Brace yourself."

Craaaazy comment section on this one holy moly. I’m a very independent and a relatively private person, so to have my man be this attentive to my period would come off as clingy and kind of obnoxious. That’s just my own personal opinion though.

You guys are obviously just really big fans of each other! He’s trying to show you that he cares and that he’s paying attention to you and your bodily function. He’s letting you know that he’s ready for whatever is about to come, and on standby with treats and support. You receive it well, and is something you enjoy that he does. And honestly, that’s fabulous! It’s great when men can just be adults about periods and not get grossed out about it, and just simply show love and support.

It’s cool that you have this relationship OP, and it’s great that it made you so happy that you wanted to show the internet how amazing you feel and how proud of your relationship you are. Everyone deserves to feel like your partner is the best thing ever. So good for you! It’s really not hard to be a decent person and just be happy for someone else, even if it’s not for you.

65

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 24d ago

Most down to earth comment here.

You wouldn’t prefer it but you can acknowledge that it’s great for OP.

People need to stop yucking someone’s yum.

This is a sweet post, and your comment is honestly really nice. This comment section has a lot of creatures who need to touch grass.

18

u/madtastic225 24d ago edited 24d ago

Thank you so much, that means a lot to be recognized like that! It really is quite a simple concept, it’s too bad people can’t just even try to understand it. People have a hard time removing themselves from situations and to understand others from different perspectives and situations. They tend to lack emotional IQ and it shows. It really is awesome that OP is so happy and is with someone who obviously cares for them very much, it makes me happy in return!

10

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 24d ago

p.s. I really hope your period is pain-free, and passes quickly for you!

6

u/scratsquirrel 24d ago

I’m right there with you. Absolutely not with this nonsense. Do not track my period or try to be an expert on what my own body is doing. This would come across and infantilizing to me

355

u/Nikmido 25d ago

I agree with you if you mean it in the way how it's a quite private/personal exchange between a couple, not if you think periods should be something people keep to themselves, though.

no, the younger men who are in withdrawal currently need to see these kinds of stories so we can get them back to the light

14

u/Autom4tic_Soze 25d ago

?

100

u/canonlycountoo4 25d ago

The men who currently are not treating their queens with the same regard, need to see kings setting the example. Thus, their objection to the claim that these exchanges should be kept in private quarters.

31

u/RogerianBrowsing 25d ago

I’ve never told any of my partners when she’s going to potentially be starting her period or not. Why on earth would I be tracking her period? Maybe they’re trying to get pregnant but that’s the only way that it wouldn’t be weird (to me at least).

It’s good to be supportive, compassionate, empathetic, etc., to your partner but tracking her period to the point you’re informing her about it is weird.

53

u/OkProfessor6810 24d ago

I think it very much depends on the couple. I know a lot of women who have horrible periods but don't always keep the best track of their cycle. To be honest, I wouldn't have minded a heads up back in the day every once in awhile.

20

u/Maleficent_Hawk6703 24d ago

It's not about tracking the period. It's about the obvious care he puts into the state of her well being

32

u/FreedInnerChild 24d ago

I've been with my partner for 25 years. I'm currently in perimenopause. I trust my partner fully to help and support me through this insanity. If he's keeping track for me, or for his own reasons, that's absolutely fine. He lives with me, he deserves to know what's going on.

also it's nothing to be ashamed of

there is a difference between "ugh are you PMSing?" and "I ordered more advil and rescheduled tonight's meeting so I can bring Bobby to his game so you can relax in the bath"

42

u/canonlycountoo4 25d ago

I think the idea is more of being supportive in any means, not to take the text literally. You are not the target audience, the men who act like children when seeing a tampon in a drawer are.

ETA: Y'all, this is, at best, a nothing interaction, and at worst actively off-putting. Have higher standards for how your partner treats you. This should not be something worth sharing.

10

u/Cherriiibomb 24d ago

What was your reaction? I’ve been receiving a lot of pessimistic takes (see other comments) lol

34

u/kobuskoby 24d ago

No no I meant this is no negative way at all lol I’m genuinely glad you have a relationship that this is a positive form of communication. If I sent my wife a text like this I’m almost certain I would get back a “wtf you weirdo ew” 😂

423

u/ionlyjoined4thecats 25d ago

I would be so uncomfortable with my man tracking my period like this.

54

u/ChapterThr33 24d ago

There's another highly voted comment basically suggesting men who aren't tracking are crappy partners lmao. The need fit communication wins again.

93

u/lightnoveltitlehere 25d ago

It would depend for me. If we've been together for like 3+ years, we're living together, etc. this is absolutely so considerate and kind. 3 months? Absolute creep

86

u/pink__cloudz 25d ago

But why? If he can adapt the way he's caring for you in a way that's in tune with your hormones and health I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not like her boyfriend demanded it, she offered him the option to join her Flo app and he did.

33

u/Initial_Positive_100 25d ago

This was my first thought. It’s creepy to me.

23

u/NYC_RAT67 25d ago

Maybe OP has Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and her partner is just reassuring her as someone with PMDD this will make feel safe and loved, since I tend to get very depressed during that time.

12

u/ambasciatore 24d ago edited 24d ago

My partner tracks my cycle for this exact reason. I get why he does it and I appreciate that he cares enough about me and our relationship to make any effort to keep it in mind. It’s from a place of love and care. Not every action a man takes has to be weird or creepy.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/Incognitomous 25d ago

Really? In a long term relationship?

29

u/syrioforrealsies 25d ago

Yeah. My husband knows when I'm starting my period because 1) he can observe my behavior and 2) he's aware of the passage of time. What he doesn't do is tell me when I'm about to start my period because he realizes that 1) I'm even more aware than he is and 2) I'm an adult.

16

u/l_a_p304 24d ago

Just all of this 100%. That text is odd.

→ More replies (1)

17

u/Deep-Interest9947 24d ago

Yeah I fear a text from my husband informing me I’m about to start my period when I’m actually about to start my period would enrage me. Just notice and act accordingly.

87

u/ionlyjoined4thecats 25d ago

I’ve been with my husband 14 years. I’d think it was weird if he was telling me when I am supposed to get my period, yeah. It’s infantilizing. I’m… well aware of my own body. I’ve been doing this for 20 years.

It’s performative. Just be nice. You don’t have to announce it.

38

u/ReindeerUpper4230 25d ago

6

u/mcheshii 25d ago

um that’s literally not what this is. he’s tracking it to show his support and be able to buy things in time to help her during her period. tracking is also good so he can track changes like when she’s in her luteal phase he can know what she needs

Awww, that sticker is so cutteeeee

77

u/pupcharm 25d ago

I don’t understand all the hate you’re getting.

Periods can be rough physically and mentally. Especially for those of us, like myself with things like endometriosis.

If I had a partner who was open enough to actually take the time to understand my body and my needs during a period of time where I’m struggling I’d really appreciate that. I wouldn’t even be with someone if I felt like I had to hide something as normal as my menstrual cycle. Of course, we all have our preferences and to be private is also okay.

I also wasn’t under the impression from your message that he actively scours and tracks your cycle to a tee. It sounds like to me he’s just taking the time to know you better. Periods are an enormous part of life and can have great impact on overall wellbeing.

Anyway, happy for you that you have someone who cares so much 💕

10

u/Electric-Sheepskin 25d ago

That's what I was saying, if you have difficult periods, something like this can be nice for some people, but I think if you don't, it's just kind of odd. At least for me, anyway. Like if you had a bowel movement and your husband said "Are you OK? Do you need some chocolate? Do you need a hug?" That would be weird. That's how I feel about someone acting differently toward me during my period. There's just no reason for it so I would find it really odd.

3

u/syrioforrealsies 24d ago

God, the bar for men is so fucking low. Knowing your needs is bare minimum behavior.

18

u/CosmicVagabond229 24d ago

Apparently some people don't like the idea of their partner knowing their needs

6

u/Spedunkler 24d ago

It's almost like most people in the comment section are neither men nor have sex. It's astronomically easy to keep track of your partners cycle when you're together for years and it's literally a cycle . You don't even need an app. It's cute to interact with your partner, it's nice to see people as humans and to acknowledge the humanity we all share together. To try to act like understanding what a period is is somehow a huge talking point is beyond my comprehension.

4

u/Alternative-Beat-720 24d ago

Is he open to training people? Lol

6

u/astrogirl_y 24d ago

That's so sweet and just made me realize I wasn't asking for too much

32

u/KixStar 25d ago

Uh okay. As long as you're happy, I guess

19

u/CosmicVagabond229 24d ago

Does nobody communicate with their partner anymore? Why are bad intentions automatically assumed with this when it's clear that both people are happy with it and it comes from a place of love and support? My girlfriend invited me to her tracking app because she has so much going on and doesn't want it to creep on her, and I just want to be there for her and give her what she needs when she needs it. It even sends me funny notifications as subtle reminders and I let her know in case she's got something coming up that could be made more difficult. Talk to your partners, that's all it takes.

7

u/Cherriiibomb 24d ago

Hey hey hey be careful, you might be infantilizing her by wanting to love and support her 😂😂😂

26

u/Double_Visit_8983 24d ago

Men, don't let this post influence you. Do NOT act like that.

21

u/Cherriiibomb 24d ago

Lol. Act according to the type of partner you want so that you guys can be a good match

15

u/InspectorOrdinary321 24d ago

I absolutely 100% agree with this. I'm one of the people who's super private about everything especially my bodily functions so I'd find this mortifying. But also my periods are mostly symptomless so I don't need any support for them except the occasional heating pad on day 1. I realize some women have a really hard time with their periods and I also realize some women are very open about these things.

It would be a very sad world if each of us didn't have the ability to find men who fit our preferences!! And also if the different men we liked didn't feel able to be themselves. Compatability is the name of the game and I'm glad you've found such a good match!

9

u/Cherriiibomb 24d ago

Thank you!! So jealous of your symptomless period haha

Weird af

7

u/Cherriiibomb 25d ago

Why is it weird?

37

u/Initial_Positive_100 25d ago

It reads like he’s tracking your reproductive cycles but also in a way that makes it seem like he doesn’t expect you to be aware of them yourself. So it gives - invasive and patronizing. Everyone is different but there are constant stories on the news of men tampering with women’s birth control and secretly cutting condoms. This is just my perspective - maybe you have a different view - but I’m explaining as you seem unaware why people find this creepy.

18

u/Cherriiibomb 25d ago

Thank you for explaining but that seems like a pessimistic read. He knows that I track my cycle and he’s tracking my cycle too but it’s to make sure I feel loved and supported. He likes to have things like heat packs and sweets on hand. Good men still exist and are out there! <3

It’s nice you’re happy with your relationship. Good to hear the wholesome side exists. My cycle is so unpredictable even though I’ve used an app for years. I think having two ‘sources’ aka the app and a romantic partner giving me incorrect information about when my period is going to begin would become annoying really quickly.

Not as weird as spreading negativity on a random internet post instead of scrolling

Holy shit, I can tell some people in this thread would be MISERABLE to be with as a partner. I love my lady so much and im sure she would think this is funny, dorky and sweet at the same time but also without much seriousness attached. I swear yall really are chronically online

Being supportive is really cool, I get an off feeling about this delivery. Also the baby monkey kissing the chihuahua is a choice…

u/zyzeast 24d ago

I am super nice to my wife when it's that time of the month for her. Because happy wife, stay alive.

I don’t find this weird or creepy at all. My boyfriend can usually guess when I’ll be starting my cycle as well. Not because he’s “tracking it” but by my mood swings, food cravings, breast size and heightened sensitivity.

For example, the other night we were watching his favorite childhood film Iron Giant and I had never seen it before. Towards the end of the film I started crying really hard and he just cuddled me and asked if I needed anything. I started my period the next day and when I told him he said “he knew it was coming.”

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with your partner being observant and letting you know that they support you. The people in these comments saying it’s weird either 1) aren’t in relationships 2) don’t have partners who care about them enough

So anyway girl, you’re lucky to have someone like that :)

u/billybob1x 25d ago

Is he A.I?

4

u/Cherriiibomb 25d ago

Kinda seems that way with the way people in this comment section have been behaving! But no, he’s very real and I’m very lucky

2

u/billybob1x 25d ago

Good for you, as long as ya happy. I was just failing at being funny

u/MrInternetInventor 24d ago

No one is smiling here

7

u/Lenore8264 24d ago

Kinda weird personally. It's cute if you're both like 16, but if you're like 32, period is such a normal part of life that this seems a bit dramatic, like saying, "I'm here for you" um we aren't changing into werewolves. It's a period, bro. It's been happening for years. I'm not going off to war.

7

u/Cherriiibomb 24d ago

Do you get periods that put you in excruciating pain?

3

u/itadapeezas 24d ago

I do but for me personally this would be so off putting, I’ve actually been in this exact scenario and it was annoying and irritating. I let them know, tho, so it’s not like it when on and on without me voicing my opinion. This seems to make you feel good, cared for and loved and that’s great! There’s some things that make me feel good, cared for and loved that others find stupid or annoying lol so it evens out. I think it just boils down to personal preference. It’s sweet for you and that’s awesome!

u/deekymoon 24d ago

Love this for you, OP✨️💖🥰 I have a lot of health anxiety and stress over my periods, and my partner reminds me and asks if I need products. Don't let miserable people ruin this for you - this is soo beautiful!❤️

u/anarchtea 25d ago

Yowzer, proof in the comments that some people really do love to sneer at things that made someone smile. Brief happiness? In this economy?

5

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 25d ago

The taxes are too demanding for happiness. How dare you be rich! I must put you in your place for being happy with this gesture!

aww mine this morning had coffee ready and the dogs walked, gently said I'd been a little cranky the last few days. I got up to pee and sure enough

4

u/dumbodragon 25d ago

I wasn't going to say anything except quietly share it with my boyfriend, but by the amount of negative comments here, I figured I'd say something nice.

Op, I think this is adorable and fitting to the sub as it definitely did make me smile, it's nice to have someone care so much about you that he keeps track of something that affects most of us deeply! My own boyfriend keeps notes on his phone about "signs and what to do" when I'm on my period.

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 24d ago

I sadly see this anytime something is posted about the menstrual cycle.

Guy doesn’t care to do anything with the cycle or what you do? Asshole
Guy tries to show care for what happens during a cycle and prepare for it? Creep.

There’s no winning ground online for this.
It should be what works for the couple. I don’t track my wife’s period cause I wanna know when it’s prime time to breed her like everyone thinks guys are doing it for. I do keep an eye on her cycle cause I know she has painful periods and I want her to be as comfortable as possible during the week.

Anyone calling a guy gross for trying to be a part of their partner’s life is gross. Are there guys who do that for the wrong reason? Absolutely. Is it always the case? Absolutely not. If it doesn’t work for you, that’s fine. Don’t shoot someone down because it does for them.
