Help! Automatic Mahjong Table Issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One wall of my mahjong table is always empty.

From what i see the belt keeps spinning backwards and the lever keeps pushing when theres no mahjong pieces in the slot to trigger it.

Ive tried to clean and even swap the sensors around but it still has the same issue on the same side.

Ive also tried swapping around the capacitors but same result. The issue was still on the same side.

As seen in the video the side that does not work. The sensor itself still "works" but the lever auto triggeres when theres nothing there...

Counting the triggers. after 18 lever triggers the broken side just stops and does not proceed futher. From what i can tell this is just how the table itself automates the build of the wall. After there are 36 tiles (18x2) tiles triggered it will stop building the wall.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Sounds like the table is in a mode for playing 3-player riichi and not 4-player. In 3p the three walls are 18 tiles long for the 108 tiles, in 4p the four walls are 17 tiles long for 136 tiles. The table's manual should have instructions on how to change the mode.

Or maybe some other mahjong variant has normally 18 tile walls x4 and the part that delivers tiles from the center to the belt isn't working.

This is a treyo automatic table. From the instuction manual its set to position 1. Which is for 144 tiles inclusing flowers with 18 stacks with 4 walls. So unfortunately i do think its something wrong with the table itself

You can see how the other belts grab the tiles with magnets, so just follow the same symmetric path from the non-filling side to the central drum. The belt is moving back and forth for some reason, so could be related to that, but perhaps the rotating part with the magnets isn't?

How I think it works is that the belt moves backwards when it thinks the "tray" is full, so that it wouldn't grab extra tiles and even the last tile can find its right place.

I don't know a lot about how these tables work but I do own one as of a few weeks ago.

This may sound dumb, but have you double checked the setting to make sure it's set to deal out the correct number of tiles

Either it is in 3 player mode or there is an error. You can ask your supplier or vendor for help? I always recommend buying tables which will come with tech support. haha. Whenever I have jams I cannot resolve, my table guy comes along and fixes it.

If it's building the walls 18 tiles long, that's typical for 3 player Riichi. Does it raise the walls as normal or error?

It would also be useful to see the view from 90 degrees to the left of this one, looking at the belt picking up the tiles.

I by no means have any knowledge to help with, but just curious maybe check the settings if there is a 3 player mode

I played on a table a few days ago with the same issue and there was a piece stuck the wrong way in there maybe that's the issue

My table has a setting indicator near the power switch (it’s just a 7 segment LCD display) with numbers for the different programs. It came with a list of what each program does. If you have a similar setting somewhere then for 4 player Riichi you’re looking for 17 tiles 4 walls, 136 tiles.

If you switch the power and neutral wires on the belt motor it will spin the opposite way. The problem is probably somewhere else if the machine was working before.

hmmm...

That last side does move a bit erratically back and forth. I'd give the motors there a good check to see if:

  1. They work properly - ie. they can move freely on a separate power supply.
  2. That the power supply from the table works properly and delivers enough voltage/amps to the motors of the "broken" side.
  3. That any solder points and/or ports/plugs are secure and properly connected (stepper motors sometimes do this if they have a loose connection).
  4. If the Control board/chip (or whatever "intelligent parts" these tables may have) sends out the proper signals to the "broken" side.
  5. Any sensors and belts are free of dust, grime, hairs etc.

Not necessarily in that order, but it looks to me like the motors do have some resistance or electrical problems, which result in the janky movement on the "broken" side... I've seen it happen in a lot of stepper motor stuff all the way down to the cheap rotating disco light balls 😊

that player does not deserve to play xD
