The only way I could see that working is if they changed Forcast to give a Special attack boost AND minmaxed the stats, even then 70's across the board is just terrible, it would be mega beedrill all over. Either it's a glass canon or its getting oneshot without doing anything

This post was written by somebody who hasn’t been paying attention. AZs Floette is the only Floette that can mega because it’s special case

Eternal Floette cannot evolve into Florges so is a fully evolved pokémon, therefore capable of mega evolution. There will be more mega evolutions added but don't expect it anytime soon. Prior to Legends Z-A the last time wee got a new mega evolutions were in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Also note that there are other gimmicks (Z-moves, Gigantamax, Terastalization, regional forms, convergent evolutions). Unevolved pokémon will get those last 2 more as seen with Scream Tail for example.

So Ash's pikachu could mega evolve, since he can't evolve. Right?

Ash's Pikachu can still evolve into a Raichu, it just doesn't want to and Ash respects that

But it technically should mean that the partner Pikachu and Eevee from the let's go games would be valid candidates for mega evolution.

I'd also be curious if a gigantamax capable pikachu could mega evolve. After all, it literally can no longer evolve into raichu, and having a mega and a g-max form are not exclusive traits.

Imagine it works like G-Max where unevolved cannot evolve until you remove it... for certain Pokémon the Mega Stone works like an Everstone as well

Its very explained why AZ's Floette specifically can Mega Evolve, because the energy of Ange made it unable to evolve into Florges

They literally said mega evolution is only for the guys who can't mega evolve further. Eternal Floette can't evolve, and can therefore, mega evolve, and even then it's the FLOWER that's mega evolving

Ever since I learned how new mega stones are made I have just been imagining flygon using the ultimate weapon rapid fire

u/Evan_L_Rodriguez 2d ago
No. The new Megas in Z-A were explicitly the product of the ultimate weapon’s firing, or heretofore undiscovered. Floette doesn’t have a Mega Evolution, AZ’s Floette does, because she was brought to life by the ultimate weapon.

Flowette doesn't count as an unevolved pokemon, because AZs isn't allowed to evolve at all. Like Special Yellow Pikachu, eviolite would never work with them because they cannot evolve further at all therefore are fully evolved pokemon

Castform, maybe, but AZ’s Floette is a UNIQUE situation due, primarily, to the whole “Ultimate Weapon” business.

There is a mega for every pokemon, they are just yet to be discovered. Not for unevolved forms, though, Eternal Floette is special

And mega every Rotom form
And every mega Ditto variant
And every mega Spinda...

Perhaps you should play Legends Z-A, or just simply read the lore about Mega Floette if you can't be bothered to do that

AZs Floette is a very special pokemon and has a deep connection to mega energy in general so I don't think it should be counted in the same regards
