Who is Conservative Maple Ridge East MLA Lawrence Mok?
Haven't heard much from this guy, trying to get a sense if he's done anything or is known in the community?

Lawrence Mok? Oh, he's been busy alright. Just not doing anything I'd be particularly proud of.
He voted to advance legislation that would have:
• Scrapped BC's Human Rights Code entirely.
• Abolished the Human Rights Tribunal and Human Rights Commissioner.
• Restricted transgender kids' rights and access to gender-affirming care.
• Repealed BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
He also backed a bill to cut provincial funding to Indigenous groups pursuing certain Aboriginal title claims.
That's quite the fucking résumé. Imagine being elected to represent your community and building a voting record around taking rights and protections away from people.
And before anyone starts screaming misinformation, here are the receipts. His name is right there in the voting records.

8 things in 2 years is so fucking lazy. Most of you do more in a week and you're asking a guy to sit back and collect a pay check

Bc human rights tribunal fined someone $800k for speech. Free speech is more important than the government protecting people's hurt feelings.
Kids shouldn't be given gender affirming "care" because there are victims who weren't actually trans who do it because they are depressed and are told it will fix them. It doesn't always. We should protect kids from life-altering medicine.
Choosing indigenous peoples rights over the rights of other Canadians is racist. The reconciliation industry already costs taxpayers billions every year. We don't need to do more here, we need to do less. Why should taxpayers give indigenous groups money so they can sue taxpayers?
Mok seems to be doing exactly what voters want.

None of these lower prices or help you have more access to healthcare. But if you like wasting money on culture wars then he's your guy.
Also he did 3 things in 2 years? Isn't that fireable in any job lol.

u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
WTF! Where do you even start with this? lol
Human rights laws aren't about hurt feelings, Indigenous rights are protected by our Constitution, and doctors aren't handing out gender-affirming care to depressed kids like candy.
I posted actual voting records and you came back with a pile of recycled talking points.
And that bit about Mok doing what voters want? Speak for yourself.
You sure as hell don't speak for everyone in Maple Ridge.

u/PolloConTeriyaki 4d ago
Some people are pretty racist and they just choose the 1 thing lol.
I'm just saying racism is expensive. Mok gets $170,000 a year and you're asking him to do one thing? It's not cost efficient.

Taxpayers deserve an MLA who represents their community, not a six-figure emotional support animal for fragile assholes.
-9
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
You sound pretty fragile yourself complaining about 6 figures when we spend billions on frivolous woke bullshit every year that you support.
13
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
LMAO, “billions on woke bullshit.” 😂 That's what happens when your entire understanding of public spending comes from angry Facebook memes and a vocabulary of six buzzwords.
Go ahead, genius. Name the programs, show us the billions. Watching you try to produce an actual fact instead of another tantrum should be fucking hilarious.

Just indigenous repairations alone was 40B this year...
13
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
$40 billion in reparations this year? Source? Because you're confusing multiyear settlements and government program funding with actual annual spending.
And even if it were $40 billion, so what? We took their land, broke treaties, stole their children and spent generations trying to destroy their cultures. Residential schools existed within our lifetimes. These aren't some fucking handouts, they're compensation for historical injustices and legal obligations.
Funny how you're outraged by the cost of compensation but seemingly couldn't care less about what was taken in the first place.
-2
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
They're not compensating the people who were affected. They're compensating an entire race based on DNA.
-2
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
Choosing to pay indigenous people instead of spending that money on all taxpayers is racist for sure.
13
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
Indigenous people ARE taxpayers, genius. 😂
And where exactly did you get the idea that money spent on Indigenous communities somehow benefits nobody else?
That's a pretty impressive amount of ignorance to cram into two sentences.
1
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
Yeah, and all taxpayers should be equal. Giving some people more rights based solely on DNA/race is racism. Simple as that.
13
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
Holy fuck, you're confidently clueless. Aboriginal rights aren't based on DNA, they're protected under Section 35 of the Constitution. They predate Canada itself.
You keep screaming racism while demonstrating you don't understand the first damn thing about the rights you're attacking. Ignorance isn't an argument.
2
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
Section 35 of the constitution was added in the 70s. It doesn't predate Canada.
I'm not screaming anything. You're simply a racist who hates being called out
9
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
Section 35 was enacted in 1982, genius. The rights it recognizes existed long before Canada did. That's the distinction you're spectacularly failing to grasp.
Thanks for demonstrating my point so perfectly. 😂

Eh you don't get it. Canada the country has said that they will take care of indigenous people since we colonized the place.
You can't go back and undue the contract. If you're jealous, you can always go to school and get more money or a better job.
It's a waste of money to try to undue indigenous rights. Mok collects and you get nothing. It's a scam. You can have your feelings, but there's no way on earth you'd win that battle no matter what.
-1
u/No-Transportation843 4d ago
We didn't colonize anything. I was born here. The empty land was settled anyway, not colonized. There was no contract in BC
9
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
“Empty land”? What an absolutely brain-dead understanding of history. Indigenous nations lived here for thousands of years before Europeans arrived. Their existence doesn't become irrelevant just because it's inconvenient for your argument.
And the fact that most of BC was never ceded through historical treaties isn't the gotcha you think it is. It's literally part of the legal foundation for ongoing Aboriginal title claims.
Nobody gives a shit where you were born. Being born on colonized land doesn't mean you personally colonized it, but it sure as hell doesn't give you the right to rewrite history.
The sheer arrogance it takes to be this confidently ignorant is staggering. You don't understand the history, you don't understand the law, and somehow you've mistaken that for having a point.

I understand the history and I understand the law. The law is racist. Adding indigenous rights to our constitution was racist. No one alive today did anything to any indigenous people. No indigenous person alive today had land taken from them. We all buy our property fair and square from the previous owners. Its not arrogant to have a different opinion than you, and it's not ignorant to understand but disagree with the policies of our government. I like that mok is trying to dismantle some of that bullshit.
10
u/Coq-Lover 4d ago
Calling Indigenous constitutional rights racist doesn't demonstrate an understanding of the law. And buying property doesn't magically extinguish Aboriginal title.
You're entitled to your opinion, but you're not entitled to your own legal facts.

You're not the only one asking, as he now notoriously never shows up to anything.

This riding was potentially impacted by vote splitting, so getting rid of him this time seems possible! See https://www.bcvotesplit.ca/

The green candidate last time didn’t even live in the lower mainland- they were a Victoria party staffer.
This election cycle the green candidate …. Has never been seen at any of the local environmental initiatives that have been happening over the years … but sure he’s “involved in the community”…. Folks just haven’t even seen him around.

He won because "F Treadeau" people show up to vote more in our constituency. Sadly, He will win again because "F Eby" crowds will show up again. The question is, how did he get chosen by Cons? There is no other sensible educated conservative who wants to get represented? Or he "donated" more winning the bid? What an amazing democracy we live in, let's just talk crap about other countries election and blame immigrants.

He hasn’t really done anything, except voted in favor of a private member's bill (the Human Rights Code Repeal Act) on first reading, which was introduced to scrap the B.C. Human Rights Code and abolish the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal
He doesn’t attend debates because he is scared of accountability and doesn’t want to be held to account by the public. He is a do-nothing who collects a paycheque from the public.
