I haven’t seen a Scarpitti sign anywhere in Markham. I guess he’s confident that his name on the ballot is enough to get him reelected.

It's time for a change but unfortunately not the year for it because there's no competent person running against him.

What do you mean, backyard rinks aren't a reason enough?

As far as I’m aware, if you can’t put signs up, you don’t deserve someone’s vote.

Really? I'd rather vote for someone who doesn't put up signs. They're annoying and wasteful.

I'm with ya, Markham is unrecognizable. It's time for change and don't let others here bully you with their little downvotes.

100% and, even if he doesn’t win but gets a good amount votes, it will encourage others to run as well in the future.

Okay, definitely have not been following this election cycle. What have I missed about our current mayor that prompts a change?

I believe someone explained this in another post. But basically, too much complacency. People in council who just get re-elected election after election are too comfortable... that they ignore residents emails/ concerns, residents voices aren't heard, projects aren't done in a timely manner, they're not striving for more... And I think this shows in local community centres, to developments, to transit...etc. Add on the lack of media scrutiny. As well as Markham Mayor being highest paid mayor. Much of this doesn't sit well.

Not to mention he isn’t even campaigning. No signs, no website. He’s assuming his name on the ballot will take care of it. It’s insane arrogance

Someone didn't get a backyard rink.

And I'm voting for decency !

I would vote for decency too. But I find with Markham council, there's not enough media attention to call out who is or isn't decent. Reddit helps, I have learned about sleezeball Jim Jones, sleepy Alan Ho, narcissistic Amanda Yeung Colluci, disrespectful Paul Chiang.... But what about every one else? But for city of Toronto, provincial or federal elections, you can definitely vote based off of decency.

or if you're not confident in any candidate - just don't vote for any of them.

This attitude is why 12% of voters in Markham actually voted in the last election. Pathetic.
