E-bike crackdown could bring licensing, testing requirements to Ontario as early as next month | insauga
I look forward to seeing what the Province plans to do, and if it will actually be enforced.

I was going to go to the Mac and Pc place but seeing the recent bad review I have no idea where to go. I just need an overall PC and GPU diagnostic as they aren't working well. Thank you.

There’s a pretty new building complex in DT Markham right on the corner of Birchmount and Verdale Crossing with tons of retail space at street level. Looks like it could be a lot of new businesses, with a lot of different size units. Only a BMO so far, has anyone heard of what else might be going in there?

New to this, so looking for advice!
I'm already on multiple wait-list for daycares, but I recently realized that most daycares follow the school calendar, which makes it tricky for our family. I will be returning to work in June 2027 (12mth mat leave), where do I find a summer camp for my baby? Is it going to be difficult for the baby to start in summer camp first before daycare? When do I apply for summer camp and is it first come first served or is there already a wait-list for that as well. TIA!

Yo which one of you is buying your kid a mini dirt bike to ride around on the sidewalks?
Sure son, you can have a dirt bike, just stay on the sidewalks…
See these kids on the sidewalks near MSH and along Hwy 7 east of McCowan all the time.
Dumbass parents…

Has anyone been to the copper creek location? I need a pretty simple trim, but not sure if I want to risk it. I used to go to sherry and she was amazing but she's left and no idea where she is now. I went once to Christina and it was very botched and needed fixing.
Just need front layers and a blunt cut.
Also does anyone have a recommendation for a home salon? I need flexibility and someone working Sunday's.

My husband and I recently moved here from London, ON. Any advice on adjusting.
We grew up in The Bahamas and South Florida before moving to Canada. So there is a different type of culture shock. We are both black professionals that work in corporate
If you're Asian share tips on cultural norms or what to avoid. I want to develop a community here but need advice on where to start or even where to go. I find I always get the shock of whoa why are you here. Just the other day I was stopped in my building after picking up my Uber order. They thought I was a driver. And a lot of people aren't as open unless they see someone else talking to you first.
If you're black as well in Markham, how have you adjusted here. And what advice would you offer.

Is there is anywhere in or near Markham where an organization or charity takes opened cat (dry) food? My cat passed but I have 2 open bags of kibble that can still be eaten. I remember several years ago there was a place that took in opened cat food near the Markham Village recycling depot, but I don't remember where it is located or what that organization/charity was called. Would appreciate any suggestions!

Just a heads up, there is a coyote at the L'Amoreaux Park Hydro Field. So just be cautious if you’re walking your dogs near the area

Just wanted to give local Markham residents a heads-up about a really shady experience I just had at Mac and PC Repair Depot (69 Main St N).
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 (vPro model) with a locked BIOS password. Anyone familiar with newer vPro ThinkPads knows this requires reprogramming the security chip—a simple CMOS reset won't work.
When I walked into the store, I told the front desk receptionist right away that I did NOT need any diagnostics since I already knew the exact issue. They quoted $150 for the job and mentioned a $50 diagnostic fee. I told her straight up: I don't need you to diagnose it—if you have the tools and skill to reprogram it, I'll leave it; if not, tell me now and I'll go elsewhere.
She called the owner on the phone, and he firmly guaranteed they could do the job, asking me to leave a $50 cash deposit. We agreed that if fixed, I'd pay the remaining $100; if they couldn't fix it, I'd get my $50 deposit back. They had me sign an intake sheet while verbally assuring me the $50 was just a deposit, refused to let me take a physical copy, and promised to email it to me right away (which they never did). All I got for my $50 cash was a yellow sticky note slapped on my laptop ("Paid $50.00 Cash"—no official invoice, no HST number).
I left it with them for two full weeks without bothering them once. Yesterday they finally called me to pick it up, admitting they couldn't fix it, and refused to refund my $50 cash, suddenly claiming it was a fee for their time. The owner wasn't even there when I picked it up, and despite the receptionist promising he'd call me back shortly, he completely ghosted me.
A few crazy things I noticed on their wall when I went to pick it up (see photos):
Right above their door, they have a huge sign that says "FREE ESTIMATE".
On their wall, they have a printed sheet for "Verbal Diagnostics": talking to them under 5 mins is free, 5-10 mins costs $20, and talking over 10 mins costs $50!
Both their posted City of Markham Operating Licence (2025, expired Jan 2026) and Ontario Master Business Licence (expired June 2026) on the wall are expired.
Guaranteeing a repair you have no ability to do just to pocket a customer's $50 cash deposit with a sticky note is slimy enough, let alone ghosting afterwards. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place.

I live near Brimley and Denison and I have a line with Rogers. Over the past 1-2 years, I feel like the reception has significantly deteriorated. Not sure if it’s been since I got my iPhone 17 Pro Max or what, but I’ve received a lot of complaints from friends/family when I call them. Literally even outside my house, speeds are pushing 5-15 mbps at BEST, when Rogers advertises speeds up to 2 gbps. I’m thinking about switching to Bell Mobility but I don’t want to go from bad to worse. Any advice? I tried Telus probably 7 years ago and that was the worst by far (actual dog water).

Has anybody had any experience with the children’s lifestyle clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital? My daughter was referred but I’m on the fence.

Winter is just around the corner, and we all know what’s coming: the City clears the streets, but leaves massive mountains of snow at the end of our driveways.
For many residents, that means grabbing a shovel and spending even more time clearing snow that was pushed back onto our property — sometimes multiple times during a single snowfall.
I understand that the City already provides additional assistance to eligible seniors and residents who need it. That’s a great service. But why can’t we take the next step and make driveway access a priority for everyone?
Here’s a simple idea: introduce a fleet of driveway-edge snow-clearing machines to work alongside the street plows.
Imagine a system that clears the road and reduces the massive snowbanks left blocking our driveways. It could mean:
Safer, more accessible driveways.
Less backbreaking shovelling for residents.
Better access for families, commuters and emergency situations.
A winter maintenance system that works for the whole community.
We invest in clearing our roads every winter. Isn’t it time we looked at making it easier for residents to get in and out of their own driveways, too?
Markham City Council — let’s start the conversation before the first major snowfall. This may require investment and planning, but surely it’s worth exploring.
If you agree, share this post and tag the City of Markham. Let’s see how many residents want a better solution this winter!

What is wrong with people. Using left turn lane to merge, nearly causing an accident if the first car is a bit faster.

Context: I saw this person putting up Alan Ho signs on lawn without permission, including mine. Not sure if they had permission from other houses, or no permission at all. They did not knock on the door to ask for permission or get approved ahead of time. Is it legal to put signs without permission?

not necessarily some massive billion-dollar project. could be a missing sidewalk, better bus shelters, more trees, a small public space or a safer crossing.
curious what little improvements would make the biggest everyday difference.

A lost dog was wandering around Carlton road and McKay Crescent around 15:40.
My friend has it on a leash right now and wondering if anyone is looking for them
