Question A Megadeth Tribute: which songs to play?
Hey guuyss!! A couple of days ago, I received a call telling me that I was gonna be the lead guitarist on a Megadeth Tribute!! So exciting. The thing is, I'm in charge of selecting the songs...
Which songs do I have to include? I was thinking something in between of "Megadeth Mainstream" (like tornado, holy wars, symphony" and "Megadeth for fans", and that is the stuff that i'm stucked... Any ideasss?

Ok, you NEED to play five magics and Mary Jane

Additionally some song you can play are Anything of kimb because most of them haven't been played in ages Good mourning/black Friday Lucretia, rip Polaris, in my darkest hour, Liar, take no prisoners and generally some classic songs like peace sells, wake up dead, hangar 18. Also you can't play a Megadeth tribute without holy wars, except if you want a specific era

"Set the World Afire" should be there as the band's namesake.
"My Last Words" can qualify as a "Megadeth for fans" track.
"High Speed Dirt" is a very accessible deep cut.

Do you know to play all Marty solos? Poison was the cure is a good one but challenging solo.

You’re the lead guitar and pick the songs yet they picked you? Sounds like you should have been picking them. You are the Dave now.

Gotcha.
I’d say definitely play hits like:
Symphony of Destruction
Tornado of Souls
Holy Wars
Angry Again
Peace Sells
A Tout Le Monde
And for other deep cuts or songs that bigger fans will appreciate:
Good Mourning/Black Friday
Mary Jane
Set The World Afire
Anything from Killing Is My Business
Five Magics
Ashes In Your Mouth
Blackmail the Universe
Head Crusher
Lying In State
Life In Hell
Puppet Parade

The final song you play should be The Last Note. It's a fantastic song that was written as Dave's farewell on the last album.
Also, The Killing Road is a fun one from Youthanasia.

Obviously symphony, tornado and holy wars
Deeper cuts like high speed dirt, bad omen, bullprick (not fff)

If I were in a Megadeth tribute band AND I was in charge of the setlist, I think my initial selections would be:
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
Dystopia
Go To Hell
The Conjuring
Headcrusher
The Skull Beneath The Skin
Mary Jane
Hangar 18
A Tout Le Monde
Blackmail The Universe
Tornado Of Souls
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Symphony Of Destruction
In My Darkest Hour
Victory
The Last Note
My Last Words

I’m a bass player and for the last month have been obsessively playing rust in peace start to finish. Just so much fun.

I would do a mix of the popular stuff (Holy Wars, Peace Sells, etc) and more obscure stuff that fans would appreciate hearing live in some capacity (Addicted to Chaos, Liar, etc.)
