Hi everyone

Here’s my metal cover of Wes Cravens nightmare on elm street original theme

Tracked, mixed and mastered solo in logic pro

Come down and say hi

Thanks and have a good day ✌️🔥

One rule this week: pick a cover you think beats the original, and defend it. Not "this is good" - say what the original got wrong and what the cover fixed.

Ground rules: link the cover and name the original. Reply to at least one other person before you post your own. And "it's heavier" is not an argument - heavier how, and why does it serve the song?

I'll start in the comments.

Love this song.

I remember the original from when my parents would play it on cd in the 90s and at singalongs on guitar and piano along with Parisienne Walkways.

Tommy always does amazing covers, and Gary Moore was his biggest influence to his playing style.

What do you think?

I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.

I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.

The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.

Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.

Would love to hear what you guys think!

Hey guys please check out my vocal cover.

Yusuf Tary plays bass and does vocals in the UK sludge/doom band Slabdragger, but his cover channel is Covered In Sludge. This slid across my YouTube auto-mix the other day, and I was instantly hooked.

Covered In Sludge's take on this gives me that true melancholic feel I think Tears for Fears was going for. If Doom had been around more in the 80s, I think we could have seen this as the original!

No GenAI involved. Any suggestions for future tracks to cover?

Here's my Vocal Cover of "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over" by The Devil Wears Prada! It's been 20 years since the release of "Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord" so i had to cover this classic! Let me know what you think!
