Sort of suggesting and looking for recommendations.

I've found that newer, lesser known artists just seem to know how to do it best in my opinion. (Minus Necrophobic and MPE, they're gramps compared to the rest.)

I'm super obsessed with this particular style of melodic black metal from Thron, The Spirit, Aran Angmar, Ninkharsag, and of course Necrophobic.

Seven Spires, oh boy... how they take that melodic black vibe and make it so beautiful. They're my absolute favorite. Hardly just a symphonic metal band.

Mors Principium Est is the only melodic death metal that I've fallen in love with. As hot of a take as it may be... I feel they mop the floor with bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquility, and In Flames. I used to think more extreme metal wasn't for me because I just couldn't get into those three and others like them. MPE changed the game for me. Then I found Necrophobic shortly after. All the rest I've discovered just this year.

In short: blast beats and double kicks, melodic tremolo riffs, amazing harsh vocals than can be understood at least 50% of the time, great lyrics to accompany the vocals, and excellent song structure. Don't be afraid to slow it down and groove a bit. It sells the fast parts even more.

Recommend me a metal track that comes to mind when you look at this photo.

Curious to hear what it sounds like.

Ya'll, I'm so stoned. I need some killer Wizard Sludge/Doom Metal stat. 🤘🧙🏻‍♂️

Hi all! I'm a bit picky with my black metal, so it's not always easy finding new, good bands. Rate Your Music has become a horrible snob fest, with a heavy focus on ultra-obscure stuff that I don't care for, so that's not very helpful for me. So, my favourite black metal is typically of the melodic and atmosphere kind, and my favourite albums include "The Mantle" by Agalloch, "Hearts Of No Light" by Schammasch, "The Seven" by Agathodaimon, and "Cult Of A Dying Sun" by Uada. I also enjoy the new Hecate Enthroned album, and Der Weg Einer Freiheit is nice too. Back in the '90s and '00s, I liked bands like Dimmu Borgir, Dissection, Emperor and Dawn.

So, any recommendations for melodic or atmospheric black metal from the '20s that actually sounds good? I prefer decent quality growls/screams and professional production, while I dislike dissonant black metal.

The pact by negative plane, the vocals remind me of Chronos from Venom, the instrumentation is another thing completely different... Should I call it progressive? Check it out if you haven't.

Listened to EXCLUSIVELY rap for the first 23 years of my life, then I heard Davidian by Machine Head and my music taste did a complete 180. I listened to that track probably 15 times in a row that night and haven’t looked back. I’ve listened to many, many more albums than these, but these are the standout ones and also the only ones I have on vinyl.

Any recommendations based on these? I tend to have a preference for heavier/death metal, as well as harsher vocals. But if it’s recommended, I’ll listen to it.

Also, a good chunk of all of the music I’ve been listening to this past year has come from this subreddit, so I appreciate all of y’all!

Their 3rd album Halla is on the way and the band is sharing free Bandcamp codes for early listen. Send band a message in some social media platform and pick your free code!

Wrong title for the last post... My update for the nineteenth alphabet in my best of metal list is complete! All the bands start with S not the albums to clarify! Genre tags added so if you would like to just ctrl+f for your preferred genre that is now possible. Any suggestions on albums I missed or other feedback would be appreciated: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/Uxkuell/the-best-metal-albums-from-a-to-s/

A playlist of brazilian metal bands performing covers of different songs.

It includes cover songs from Sepultura, Impaled Nazarene, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and others.

Rest in Peace

I just wanted you to know that.

Concert Organization from : House of Demoniac Propaganda

Interwiew : Chaos Magazine

Label : Agonia Records

Idk if this is already a term but basically bands with vocalists that sound like Gstk era Phil Anselmo from Pantera or Robb Flynn from Machine Head. I’ve checked out stuff like cannibal corpse and suffocation which I’ve been recommended for but can’t get past the vocals.

*I just realized that the previous time I had not added the main link! Here it is!

In this dirty old part of the city

Where the sun refused to shine

People tell me there ain't no use in tryin'

Now my girl you're so young and pretty

And one thing I know is true

You'll be dead before your time is due, I know

Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin'

Watched his hair been turnin' grey

He's been workin' and slavin' his life away

Oh yes I know it

(Yeah!) He's been workin' so hard

(Yeah!) I've been workin' too, baby

(Yeah!) Every night and day

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!)

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

'cause girl, there's a better life for me and you

Now my girl you're so young and pretty

And one thing I know is true, yeah

You'll be dead before your time is due, I know it

Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin'

Watched his hair been turnin' grey, yeah

He's been workin' and slavin' his life away

I know he's been workin' so hard

(Yeah!) I've been workin' too, baby

(Yeah!) Every day baby

(Yeah!) Whoa!

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!)

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

Girl, there's a better life for me and you

Somewhere baby, somehow I know it

We gotta get out of this place

If it's the last thing we ever do

We gotta get out of this place

Girl, there's a better life for me and you

Believe me baby

I know it baby

You know it too
