Tuxla Gutierrez Safety
Hello, I’m looking for some objective and well informed opinions here.
My brother met a girl on Tinder and is planning to go meet her for the first time next month. The plan includes a couple days in Mexico City and then they are flying directly to Tuxla Gutierrez where she’s originally from to meet some of her friends and attend a cousins wedding. My understanding is this leg of the trip will be entirely within the city.
My brother is white as a ghost, does not speak a lick of Spanish and has never travelled outside the US by himself. Given this and the level 3 travel advisory in Chiapas my family is pretty concerned so I’d like to get some outside opinions.
Is this safe for him to do? If so is there any specific safety advice I should pass along? If not are there any resources that I can use to help convince him it’s a bad idea?
Anecdotes of recent travel experiences are also welcome!
