Football Akron
We’re going to Akron next week for the Eastern Michigan game. Wondering where is a MUST STOP, what’s the tailgate scene situation? What should we expect?
We vlog our tailgate experience and showcase the local community/food/fans. We’re all about history, lifelong fans, and spreading positivity.
Thank you!

Don’t know if open on Saturdays, but…. The nfl hall of fame is ~20 min drive south of the stadium, and has at least one Akron zip in it (Jason Taylor). As for tailgating, look up the Ak rowdies, they were a thing when I was there 20 years ago (that hurt to type). It’s a student support group for all sports. If you like leaves changing colors, north of campus is the southern end of the Cuyahoga Valley national park (yes Ohio has one in this area!). It’s wonderful for hiking and biking and fishing etc.

Tailgating scene isn’t massive but the die hards are in lot 9 on the scoreboard end of the stadium. The university puts on a nice family friendly tailgating event in lot 10. Zippy should be there which is a must as he is one of the best mascots around.
Score & Eurogyro are the bars close to the stadium that would have some pregaming.
Lunch Friday: Diamond Deli
Game-day Breakfast: Akron Family Restaurant
Postgame: Missing Falls brewery, Franks place, Good Company.
As others mentioned some of the unique football history around town NFL HOF would be a must. John Heisman statue outside the stadium. And last if you are around Friday you could get incredible content at the Massillon High School game. Their fans are as die hard as it gets and there is a massive tailgate scene for their high school games!
