I was allowed to roam the neighbourhood from the age of 8. I just had to be home by dinner time and could then go back out for a further hour (if it was light in the summer). I did nearly get kidnapped once but I was too fast on my bike. I didn't report it because I was scared I wouldn't be allowed out again.

We listed and followed rules. Boundaries were set by our parents, and we would not dare cross them. There's a 0% chance of that happening today.
