Superstore incident

My son was at tim hortons around 730pm last night and says he saw a guy wearing a white dress, on drugs dancing and bleeding from his nose. The paramedics came and took him away.

Did anyone see this or is my teenager pranking me?

Sometimes people do drugs. Sounds believable.

That sounds very homophobic or trans phobic. 😑

Describing what someone is wearing is homophobic to you..? Really..? I think you need a hobby.

It's the choice of describing the person in a way that is generally used in a derogatory manner, even though you don't know how they identify. Then getting defensive when confronted instead of asking why it is problematic or trying to do better.

Ya, most people dont like being called homophobic and transphobic for no reason. Sometimes people get defensive when someone is being stupid and rude, not bc they have a problem with lgbtq+ people. Its 2 weeks before halloween. Youre making a description of a guy who drank too much in a costume into something its not. Save your heroics for actual transphobia.

It's not without reason. Learn why your choice of words is offensive and you can avoid using offensive language. Or don't and keep being called out for it. 🤷 It's not heroics either, they were pointing out how something you said made them feel. It can be helpful to attempt to understand why they feel that way.

Actually, you don't get to hide behind the "maybe understand why peoples feelings are hurt, educate yourself" thing.

you are calling someone out for no reason for something they didn't do. The burden of proof lays on you and you failed. OP is right, you guys need to go fucking do something

Your user name is "taste_my_ass" I don't believe you are arguing in good faith. I don't need to explain it again if people choose not to do the work to understand.

Isn't it wrong to judge a book by its cover, though?

You didn't explain anything. Actually, you are having something explained to you and choose to comment on my username. Talk about good faith lol

This commenter just came out to be offended. I guess its a slow day for transphobic comments on reddit so they are nit picking what they can.

Describing someone's outfit is the fucking stupidest thing ive ever seen someone get offended by. Good grief.

I'm neither offended, nor looking for transphobic comments. I explained someone else's comment and gave context to why it feels that way. Then I keep getting notifications when you reply.

Its not my job to manage your emotions. If seeing a description of what someone is wearing upsets you, thats your problem to figure out. Bc as an adult, if something offends me i move forward. Its very entitled to believe strangers owe you anything.

I'm not asking for anything and I'm not seeking regulation. My emotions are just fine. I offered more context to why it is problematic. You ignored that. I don't think either of us are getting anywhere by continuing to interact.

This is where you are entitled. You believe bc you have a problem, everyone should agree that its offensive and change to make you more comfortable. I didnt say anything offensive about trans or gay people. If you took it that way its a YOU problem so manage your own emotions.

It was literally a guy wearing a dress for some halloween thing. It has nothing to do with trans or gay people and its weird that you are offended by an accurate description of what someone is wearing.

How do you know that this person was a guy? That is the part that is missing context, and the part that is problematic. Trans women do not need to pass to be in public in the clothing that makes them feel comfortable. Non-binary people don't owe anyone femininity or androgyny. Calling a stranger a "guy in a dress" is making assumptions about that person and is one of the ways that people mock the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. It may not have been your intention to mock trans folks, but it is certainly presented in a way that makes it seem like you are. Therefore it is something you could learn to be more mindful about. But if a person points this out, it is not helpful to say "no it's not, and I'm not transphobic". That's a defensive reaction that is understandable, but not helpful.

It was a halloween costume. I said it 3 times already. Get therapy.

Who in this story was trans or gay?

It’s a description. Get a life

I’m so sorry I made everyone mad.

By the way, I was being sarcastic

3

u/Taste_my_ass 15h ago

Hahahahhahahahaahah riiiiight.

The most toxic people I have ever met say some bullshit like you did then say "ohhhh I was being sarcastic!"

Sorry, you're lying. Work on your reading comprehension. Also sarcasm should have an obvious degree of humor or irony. I swear, do people not realise that sarcasm is a form of passive aggression, and without humor, irony or passivity, its just aggression? Lol. Holy crap

If you want to save yourself the downvotes use /s to indicate sarcasm next time.
