Got a Death Guard proxy army, trying to figure out its value

Post image

I got this in a lot. Was told that these Warhammer models were 3D printed from STLs by WldMesh: https://www.myminifactory.com/users/WildMesh?show=store&categories=2309 . Here's the description from the seller:

Primed in Deathguard Green Citadel primer and ready to paint. You'll receive 1 proxy unit of the following: Mortarion, Malignant Plaguecaster, Defiler, Lord of Poxes, Objective Markers, 6 Blightlord Terminators, Lord of Poxes, Plagueburst Crawler, 10 Plague Marines.

I want to see if any Warhammer folks I know have interest in it, but if not, would probably trade it, maybe sell. I don't really know much about Warhammer though, or how much value a proxy army has. Tried to look on ebay and similar sites, but no proxy armies there, just official Deathguard armies. I'd really appreciate some guidance from the Warhammer folks here, because I don't know much about the game or its secondhand market myself.

Edit: And if anyone knows the point value of the army, that would also be super helpful to know.

Bout tree fiddy. It's ALWAYS about tree fiddy.

Ok, that's out of the way. These are not exact replicas (probably couldn't be anyway due to copyright), so that's a knock. From what I found with, I hate to say it but here it is, a Google search, you can expect about 10-30% of MSRP. So if a Mortarion is $175 on WH site, and $148.75 on discount retail sites, figure about $40 for that 3D printed Morty. Look up the prices for the rest and do the math accordingly.

Noted, thank you! I also just thought of point value--you wouldn't happen to know the point value of this army, would you? If not, how exactly do I find that out?

Chaos - Death Guard

Mortarion (375pts)
Lord of Poxes (65pts)
Lord of Poxes (65pts)
Malignant Plaguecaster (60pts)

5x Plague Marines (90pts)
5x Plague Marines (90pts)

6x Blightlord Terminators (360pts)
Defiler (300pts)
Plagueburst Crawler (170pts)

Total 1575

I used Newrecruit.eu to create this list.
Its free, and updated for 11th.

I would call this easily 1500 points with any enhancements or defiler upgrades.

£20/kg for the resin would be a decent starting point to estimate a cost. (And that's higher end you can get resin cheaper than £10/kg when you buy alot) I would take a low ish price and offers it at that for any new players, young players, players on a budget ext

Oh that's a good point, gotcha! Thank you for your insight!

Value? Pretty much the value of resin. These are not 1 to 1 copies, so most of it is illegal by tournament standards. Probably like 5-15 usd per model. Anything above that, and it's gonna be hard to find buyers.

Worthless in game . Nobody will play a full proxy printed army for most part.

That surprises me. Not even in games with friends?

No idea where this idea comes from, people play against printed armies. A lot of store aren't huge fans of fully printed armies coming in but most games of 40k aren't played in stores. In store you're likely to be fine with a few printed models here and there, especially if they are a cool alternative sculpt. The reason they are sold online is because there is a market for them.

That being said many people know friends with 3D printers, so it's a hard sell. Your target buyer is a beerhammer player (aka a guy who gets together and plays warhammer with some friends while chilling, having a beer) who isn't bothered by unofficial stuff.

I couldn't tell you the point value because many of the models are fairly far off of the official models. There is Mortarian and a Defiler/Soul Grinder in there, the tank is I guess a predator of some sort? A set of plague marines and some sorta Terminators.

That's very insightful, thank you for sharing! & the model list is in the quote in my most; you got the majority correct!

There are multiple people playing with full 3d printed armies or proxies at my local store, just don't try and bring them to a Games Workshop, they will literally kick you out.

But at most game stores they are totally welcoming, just don't brag how much money you saved or anything like that.

Most people just want to play with their toy soldiers.

That's good to know, thank you! C:
