Insurance, $600+/month

Background: SoCal, approx 2 years of driving experience, no accidents

Currently using Geico for both home&auto insurance for 5+ yrs

Tesla: Picking up my first new (financed) Model Y standard RWD tmrw!!!

I tried getting quotes from Geico, AAA, Tesla and more. If I quote under my mom (25+ yrs of driving experience w/ no accidents) I get around $600/month. If I quote under my name it's over $1000. I am currently paying around $400/month for 2016 Range Rover.

** I genuinely don't know much about insurance. So I am not blaming any of these insurance companies. I just want to know if this is seems reasonable given my background. Is there any tips on getting discounts or lower rates...? Is getting an insurance under my mom a right decision?

I know my driving experience is making these rates extremely high and I know these quotes heavily depends on individuals...but please help me out a little!! Thanks!!!

increase deductibles and shop around. geico hates tesla from what i have seen progressive is better.

i am at 170 a month full coverage for a MY RWD premium brand new with Progressive, only 40 dollars a month higher than my old 2014 prius v was running me for the same coverage but i do have 20+ years driving experience but do have two points on my record but no accidents in 10+ years. the points are falling off my record next year so my insurance will crash even more after that.

If youre young thats a factor, if you're a male thats a factor. Your home zipcode is a factor too.

What's the male factor?

Young male specifically. Otherwise women are considered higher risk.

Man it sucks to be young nowadays. 2024 Y. 48m. $100/month. State Farm. My $100k Rivian? $106/month

That rates going up all over. Probably by design to discourage. I bet they can’t even back up the data.

Yeah, your options remain limited due to driving experience and the young factor. I think unless you use your mom as the insurance owner, you can’t get a reasonable quote for a while. I have 15 years of experience, been driving since I was 16. I am paying for full coverage $169/month through GEICO.
