GIve him too many, and he starts expecting gifts more and more. That's how you get spoiled kids

This is true, if you never give a kid anything then hes gonna expect he has to work for everything

Lmfao its a birthday for a 3 year old. 1 gift to your own child to see them smile for a second is worth it.

Making them happy is good.

not just spoiled but they're gonna be having to organize and discard all those gifts they dont need when they get older which is a big burden for them in the future

Well I guess the kid can look up any photos or celebration later on. And to find out there’s nothing done on his bday will probably crush him.

My third birthday is the first one I remember. Not gonna say I remember the entire thing, but I remember going through the process of learning the concept of birthdays, and that I just turned three.

Though if no one tells him that it's his birthday, he will have no reason to remember the day as his birthday at all, so you're kind of correct anyways.

My memories in the early years blend into each other. Although i do remember the first one, I can't tell you which age it was. It's probably between 3-6 lol

most people don't, including me.

When the brain grows it reforms/restructures itself making early memories very difficult to recall. This part isn't scientific but maybe your brain just never grew much little buddy.

Look I normally say it’s immoral but I can’t remember shit about my third birthday

I disagree with this to an extent. Isnt their gifts you could make him that cost virtually nothing? A rock outside you find and paint could be a gift. A pen and. Paper and crayons can be a gift. Drawing him a picture can bea. Gift. Litteraly so many things you could create or do super cheap or free

Immoral. Craft him something or take him somewhere fun for free — like a park.

Money is not a necessity to show affection for your child. In fact, money and material things kinda suck at showing your kids you love them. They dump toys in a week and forget fancy dinners or movies the next day. They remember the real stuff.

Agreed 100%. This is an opportunity to have the focus of a birthday NOT be on gifts, but on fun together and making memories.

Growing up my family didn’t have money, but always found free stuff to do. I remember my parents taking me (to what I later learned were free) community events, etc. My memories are
Based on the activity and spending time with my parents, not gifts. Tbh I can’t event remember what I got for my birthday last year and I’m almost 50.

Morale but could you live with the lie?

Immoral. Give the kid a birthday - just give him some pencils or something

Dollar tree toys make a 3 yr old happy. Get some super cheap toys and he won't know better...

I'm ngl, I don't remember any birthdays before my 5th or 6th

Immoral af obviously, don’t have kids if you don’t have money.

u/Super_Saiyan-Blue 1d ago

I 100% agree with you but apparently this is kinda a hot take

1

u/XueXilan 1d ago

People lose any semblance of brain cells when it comes to having kids and think it’s a right that any person regardless of capability or qualification should have, not a privilege given to those who can actually bear the responsibility for it and care for it properly

Kinda shitty, but he's three and probably won't remember anyway.
