Hey guys, quick look at where the Eagles stand heading into the part of the schedule that counts.

The nonconference stretch was rough, no way around it: the triple-overtime loss to Ohio Dominican to open, then tough road trips to No. 15 Austin Peay and Western Illinois. The 75-24 win over Kentucky Christian showed the offense can put up points.

But the Pioneer League is a fresh start at 0-0, and it opens Saturday with homecoming against Valparaiso at Phil Simms Stadium at 1. Valpo just lost 39-16 at Indiana State, so this is a winnable opener. Then it's at Dayton and at Davidson.

Since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em, and Week 5 is open. 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes. Good slate too, with Bama at Miss State (both unbeaten) and Ohio State at unbeaten Iowa. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET, before kickoff.

What are you guys seeing in year three under Jason Woodman? Is the bye week enough to reset going into league play?

Curious how many Morehead State students still play Zero Build regularly.

We’ve been building a Friday community tournament in Portsmouth, about an hour away, and I’m trying to figure out whether college players would actually make the trip together.

It’s free to enter.

Pre-check-in starts at 4:30 PM.

Tournament begins at 5:00 PM this Friday, July 24.

Would a group of MSU players be interested in something like this, or is the drive too far for a weekly event?

I've been majoring in the legal department at MSU for two years now, and normally financial aid covers what I need and me and my family can pay the difference. My grades were better than last year, and the aid (for so, so many reasons beyond us) as gone down. Then, they try to randomly place me in Andrews Hall to make things worse. I am working on that because for the love of GOD I can't afford this. I can't afford to have a dorm, or a meal plan, or anything anymore. Thankfully, I am allowed to live with my parents, but I'm still struggling to find any job at all. Even side gigs are difficult for me considering many factors. I'm trying to make this work, but I'm not sure how to the point I've turned to reddit. Does anyone know if they offer emergency aid? Or something like that? And way to pay this that doesn't put my family in more debt?

Sorry I have to ask here, please let me know if there is a better place to ask.

I will be on the Cardinal Amtrak train on Saturday from Chicago. I need to be at Morehead on Monday morning.

I see two ways to get to morehead from the Amtrak train

way 1: get off at Ashland amtrak station ———> get on the Mortrans bus to Morehead. However the bus might not be there, per https://static1.squarespace.com/static/661047903db2442ecc54ae2a/t/66153da2512a61594e3692ef/1712668067068/MorTrans+2015+Schedule+book+2015+web.pdf

way 2: get off at Cincinnati amtrak station -> go to Cincinnati greyhound station -> take a bus to Lexington -> get to my own car(I have couple hours to fix the starter and charge battery) -> drive to morehead, I could take the mortrans bus from Lexington to Morehead, but the mortrans bus might not be there, same reason as way 1.

In https://static1.squarespace.com/static/661047903db2442ecc54ae2a/t/66153da2512a61594e3692ef/1712668067068/MorTrans+2015+Schedule+book+2015+web.pdf

it says ‘Please note that in order to receive a return trip back to Morehead from Lexington or Ashland your trip needs to originate in Morehead with the InterCity Bus Service.’

I think that means if I didn’t take a bus from morehead to Ashland, they would not know I would be at Ashland.

I also called the 0989 number, she said unless I have a doctor appointment(Medicaid) I need to go to morehead, they can’t schedule a bus for me. And she also asked if I live in morehead.(sounds like buses are not making money, unless I live in morehead they don’t want to serve me, $10 is not covering the cost of driving a bus from Lexington to morehead)

——————————————————-

there might be better ways than way 1 and way 2, the Amtrak does stop at Maysville, Portsmouth and Huntington WV, if there are public transportation from Maysville to Morehead, or Portsmouth to Morehead, or Huntington to morehead.

What meal plan would you recommend for a prospective freshman?

Trying to see if anyone would be willing to give me a ride home at five am

I'm a high school junior currently, and I will be staying in my own state(Arizona, as much as I hate it here) for my first year of college. It would be sophomore year of college that I would go.

I don't plan to live on campus, but somewhere nearby.

I am a queer individual as well as agnostic.

What's been your experiences in Morehead that make you 😁 and 😢 and 🤬?

Trying to convince my partner to move there due to lower cost of living. I looked on Google maps and it looks like there's a couple things to do there; bars that are open late, a university gym that's open to the public, and only 1hr away from Lexington and 2hr from Cincinnati (more for her, she's afraid of being without city things), and trails and outdoors stuff.

What do you enjoy about living there? What do you not enjoy? I've seen a few people say there's not a lot of variety of stuff to do here.

Cross posting for 2 reasons: one, this sub has more people than the Morehead Sub. And two, and more importantly, my partner will be applying to work as an advisor in MSU. She's an advisor up here already so hoping that helps her with the transition.

Bonus points if you're from the NE. We are considering moving to Morehead from near Boston.

Hey everyone,

I’m an artist and show organizer, and I’m thinking about putting together a small tour around some cities in Kentucky. I’m especially looking for smaller, local venues—DIY spots, bars, coffee shops, or anywhere that supports live music. Right now, I’m looking for spots near Morehead State University, but I’m open to other recommendations in the area too.

If you know of any cool venues that book independent artists, let me know! Any suggestions would be super helpful. Appreciate y’all!

Does anyone know an attorney that represents the bulk of DUI cases in Morehead Ky. Rowan Co. Or a good attorney?

Just toured here over the weekend, absolutely love it. I’m a senior in high school, thinking Morehead may be the school for me. How do you guys like it? Or (for alumn) how did you like it? My dad went here 30+ years ago and he wants to see me go here too, he loved it while he was there but I know a lot can change over 30+ years.

I attended MSU in 2018-2021. Covid hit and messed everything up, I moved out of state and am trying to go to college again. Before I left MSU I made sure there was nothing I owed or anything. Got the clear from my counselor and now I'm trying to go back to college and MSU is holding my transcripts and says I owe over 2k but won't tell me why or return emails? Anyone know who I can talk to or what to do?

hey yall im a freshie majoring in exercise science and i have theories of wellness but like idk where tf to get the book i need because i cannot find it in the bookstore

I became a student exclusively online during Covid. During the fall semester of 2022, I was thriving. I had a kind of peer coach and was involved with several success teams and departments. I was enjoying and doing well in my classes.

One day, I logged onto blackboard and there was nothing assigned to me. I was still enrolled in the classes, but there were no tests or homework or anything. Midterms were the next week and I KNEW I had them, so I emailed all of my professors. I reached out to IT. I reached out to my peer coach and the other teams. Everyone acknowledged my problem, but no one offered a solution. I continued to email and call. I had been paying in installments and kept paying until I realized no one was going to do anything.

I got a bill for the entirety of the semester, including penalties! Yay! Thousands of dollars for NOTHING.

I refused to pay. I battled the creditors and begged them to have MSU reach out to me. I called and emailed MSU myself, trying to reach anyone who knew what was going on. I was ignored or flat out insulted.

By some miracle, I asked the right question and got the name of the woman making my life hell.

It got resolved last week.

FOR OVER A YEAR I have been fighting this. I’m still trying to get my degree, but now in a different state.

I MUST include that transcript, which of course is riddled with bad marks. I literally can’t get into school with the transcript left by these jackals. That semester totally tanked my already mediocre GPA. I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Morehead State University, you’re just as disgusting as the next institution. None of you care about anyone but yourselves. You’re rude, greedy, and don’t have a reason to be as haughty as you are. I hope all of your dairy products are perpetually spoiled and your carbs are stale.
