I was at the DC show at the Anthem and was surprised at the number of people getting up on stage to hug or touch Morrissey. The security didn’t seem particularly alarmed, but I had not seen this at his show in the past. Is this a new thing?

UPDATE: Tough Crowd. I’ve been a Morrissey fan since the mid 80’s, but I’ve only seen him live one other time and nobody got on stage.

Long-time Smiths fan, over a year into my newfound Morrissey obsession. Seeing him for the first time live this December in Tilburg. Inspired by Moz sharing his own favourites, here’s my current ranked list of his albums. (And yes, I love Bona Drag so it would be in the top 3 if it was a studio album ;)

Morrissey has shared his official ranking of his solo albums and singles, though he stressed, “In my life, I loved them all”.

The former frontman of The Smiths took to his personal website, Morrissey Central, to share his favourite 10 albums from across his discography as well as his favourite 10 songs.

back in 1997, shortlived UK art-pop band Acacia made a cover of TMYIMTCIG. the song was originally made in 1994 and released on a single, but the song was later released on their debut album, Cradle, in 1997

I just saw Morrissey at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. and he said in between a song: “This time last week I was literally told I had 3 minutes to live, so I’m lucky to be here tonight. Don’t worry I’m fine. It’s fine. Do we know anything about this? Like at all?

Thoughts on the new singles?

Personally, I think these two songs are way better than half the songs on Make-Up Is a Lie and should’ve been on the album. I understand that Moz rerecorded the album to give it a different sound, which is cool, but I still think these two are stronger than a lot of the songs that made the final cut.

Also, on another note, I’ve been looking forward to the release of Without Music the World Dies ever since I first saw the live recordings of it on YouTube in early 2023. The live performances were great, especially with Alain Whyte on guitar.

Is anyone on this sub going to the show? It my first time seeing him live and the looming cloud of cancellation is still shrouding.

Of course, I wouldn’t get mad if he canceled. I thinks that’s apart of his whole concert experience anyways ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Are there any pre/post parties happening in DC? We’re heading down from NY, should be arriving around 5.

Just picked up this bike with this sticker, was in Canberra, closed a few years ago

Ive been making a morrissey archive for a pretty long time (all on the internet archive, including the no longer on streaming platforms swords compilation and world peace is none of your business) and my cassette player finally arrived so ive made cassette rips of both Southpaw Grammar and Vauxhall and I, for fans of louche soundscapes! The Vauxhall cassette is pretty old so there are some dips in volume but other than that theyre fine audio. Plus the southpaw cassette has been sealed in its original packaging since 1995 and i was the first to ever open it! That was a great pleasure.

(Theyre all in high quality lossless formats, if you folks want i can convert them to MP3 files if you dont want to sacrifice much space. even if the internet archive has lossy derivatives that you can just download instead of the FLACs they have pretty crappy metadata. Though some of my rips were deleted so if anybody wants i can share them in private.)

Heres my profile!
