Considering move to Torlundy

Hi all.

I currently live in Yorkshire in the North of England. I am looking at selling my house and moving to the Highlands. I found an ideal property to buy in Torlundy. Is this a nice area please? I think my main fear is being seen as an outsider and not being accepted into the community.

I think your main fear is unfounded overall.

From my own experience (Dutch person) living in Scotland is extremely welcoming by everyone. Although there is a saying that tbs further up north you go the less welcoming they are but I think that as long as you become part of the community by helping out, get out and about you should be fine.

I have never heard of that, that the further north you go the less friendly people are... isn't true either in my experience. Sounds like a lazy stereotype...

Never felt unwelcome in Scotland, on the contrary, everyone around me (very small village in upper central west) has been great, offering a helping hand, trying to be useful to us, very very nice. It's one of the reasons why I never went back to my home country (Spain) and stayed in rural Scotland, every time I miss the sun I think about how much I'd miss belonging to a community like mine, and having the small life I'm living now, because I'm not able to have that in Spain or anywhere else. I'd say they're unfounded fears pal.
