👨‍🚀 Prop/Costume In Vice (2018), the menu from the fancy restaurant is labelled "Le Talion", French for retribution.

EXPLANATION: At the fancy steak house, the heading on the menu reads "Le Talion" - a French term that translates to retribution (retaliation).

Something got lost in translation. Talion is "retaliation in kind" or the legendary " an eye for an eye". No more, no less. That is why at least in Spanish the " an eye for an eye" is called la ley del talion... In French too

I see. Very helpful.

Flashes of Kubrick.

Damn this is true but I am French and I had never heard this word before.

That's quite interesting. As u/arellan081366 alluded, it seems to fit into a judicial or philosophical context. The term appears closely connected to the work of Michel Foucault.

Je suis très désolé. J'aime la France, mais je parle seulement un peu de français.

C'est "la loi du talion", qui désigne le "œil pour œil, dent pour dent" ^ si je ne me trompe pas le terme de "talion" n'est pas vraiment français c'est un lieu ou une personne historique rattaché à cette loi
