Discussion Temp tolerance changes?

So call me crazy but am i the only one whos noticed changes in my temp tolerances? Pre hrt I hated the heat and loved the cold. Like I used to wear jeans and a t-shirt unless there was a snowstorm. I also used to complain anytime the temp was over 60 degrees. Now its like 40 degrees out and im about to grab my winter coat. Not even to mention 90 degrees is just comfy for me now. Anyone else notice this?

I definitely have started feeling the cold easier. Im constantly fluctuating now. And my showers need to be hotter. I thought it was a joke

I keep hearing this and it makes me curious because I’m exactly like you. My comfort zone for a t shirt or light Henley is 40-60 degrees and I feel like I’m dying once the temp gets above 80 ( and I live in one of the hottest parts of the planet! 😫) I’m uncomfortable in extreme cold at first but barring heavy wind I can usually adjust pretty quickly with a little bit of motion and a sweater or coat.

That..... was there longest sentence I or the world has ever read. A period once and a while does wonders.

That’s a little rude. I type a how I type. I try to work on punctuation but I get excited sometimes and type really fast. Also I quit caring quite a while ago about anyone correcting my grammar. I’m a lazy typer for sure, but I’m extremely well read and the first person many writers in my life tap as a proof reader and editor.

I’m quick at figuring out the grammar rules of pretty much any language I’ve explored , so I know I’m not stupid. I just type a certain way and sometimes I’m too lazy to go back and edit everything before I post because I’m multitasking and replying in multiple subs at the same time.

I just don’t know what the point of any comment correcting grammar could possibly be beyond an attempt to make a person feel lesser or stupid. It doesn’t really affect your life in any meaningful way how I choose to type, and I really don’t appreciate people trying to make me feel stupid.

Some thoughts are ok to keep to yourself when there isn’t any positive intent behind them.

Also that post had a period, an exclamation point, and a second period clearly dividing it into 3 normal length sentences in what isn’t even a long post by any measure. So idk what you’re even talking about.

The cold is definitely much harder for me to bear. I used to fish in 20°F weather and now if it dips below 50°F I want my coat 🤣

That's a known thing that hormones effect! I used to be totally fine going outside into 40⁰F for any length of time with jeans and a tee shirt. Today was about 60⁰ and I was outside wearing a sweater - not strictly needed, but comfy. 40⁰ needs a full on heavy coat, and leggings layered under my bottoms. Sometimes thick knee-high socks under the leggings too

I noticed this when I started progesterone. I used to keep the house at 68 deg F, but now the minimum I can really tolerate is 74 and I’m fine up to about 85, which would have been oppressive before.

Yep! It's a thing that happens for a few reasons.

You're not crazy at all! I've had to change all of the settings on my thermostat, and started wearing cozy cardigans around the house.

HRT changes how blood circulates. You should notice you're sweating differently too

Yes, previously, my back would get sweaty, but now it's my chest that's getting wet.

I went the opposite direction. Summers feel like hell to me. I sweat as soon as it's 75 degrees or higher

I still prefer cold to hot, but I have noticed that I'm getting colder easier. Starting to get why my mom is always using a blanket on the couch.

In mid july, i was sitting under a chestnut tree sheltering from the heat. Now, mid october, i'm sitting in front of the fire trying to stay warm. 🤔, yeah i guess you could say hrt has affected my internal stat just a 🤏 bit.....

u/mattkaru 1d ago

I've gotten more sensitive in general, I definitely get cold more easily but I also overheat a lot more easily too.

u/PuzzleheadedBag4874 1d ago

I lost half my weight B4 hrt lol, so I was already a freeze baby in the one of the coldest states, I am a fkn icecube and it's only in the 40s Still... Fuck.....

u/green-olive-3281 1d ago

Wait this is not a good sign. I’m already so sensitive to the cold. Eek

Actual nightmare fuel. I've always struggled with being cold all the time even in some of the warmer months. I'm going to die of frostbite before my boobs are done 😭

u/IsaraLyandra 1d ago

I used to wear a hoodie in our office (with AC) and feel fine but now I’m freezing 🥶

1

u/Delicious-Honey836 1d ago

I was a heater, now I'm a freezer I swear 😭. AND the coldest winter of my life happened last year when I went on hormones. This time I'm prepared tho lol.

I'm less resistant to cold and more resistant to heat than I was before but honestly my temp tolerance is weird and there are times when i can go outside in short shorts and a tank top in 40 degree weather and feel fine. there's also times when i start shivering uncontrollably in warmer temps, times when i can sit in my car with the windows up and AC off in the middle of summer and times when the slightest bit of heat makes me feel like I'm melting. my body has never been big on making sense i guess.

I definitely get cold easier but I also still run hot so it’s not nearly as bad as it is for cis women, at least not yet. It’s just noticeable enough to get annoying if I don’t bring layers with me because I’m not in the habit of doing that yet

Honestly, I now have less resistance to both heat AND cold. Still way more cold resistant than most, though, just ... substantially less so than I was. I used to wear shorts and a t-shirt in -20 degrees F. Now I actually put on a light jacket around 20 degrees F. Cold still feels way nicer than hot...at least it doesn't make me damn and sweaty and quickly dehydrated.

Yeah this is where you get to find out first hand why women are always complaining about how cold offices are. It's because they are set to temperatures that men like, which are noticeably cooler than what women like, consequently women freeze in offices. It's a well documented thing too

Ain't being a lady just great

I woke up this morning and it was about 40 outside and I came back in and had to apologize to my mom for all these years of making fun of her for being cold all the time

1

u/onedayweshallsee 1d ago

Holy crap thank you for this. I thought I was just imagining it or projecting from my girlfriend and best friend both being anemic. But yes ive noticed I can't stand cold like i did. Used to love it and hate the heat. Been on hrt 10 months and ive noticed the difference now its getting cooler out. Still not happy with heat but better then I was.

I'm way more sensitive to the cold now, I feel cold much more often easier. I tend to prefer warmer weather more but even really hot days I tolerate less well too. Progesterone seems to give me a little more tolerance to colder days though with increased body temp.
