Seeing a lot of comments today of the "Well, they raided trump's house, so why is this an issue?" variety, conveniently ignoring...well... the obvious glaring differences. Did the DOJ ask Omar for the documents several times over the better part of a year, only to have her obstruct and lie to them repeatedly and attempt to destroy evidence of her having them? Or, to make it simpler, did the DOJ have a reasonable, articulable belief that they would find the documents they were looking for at her house and that they couldn't be obtained any other way?

It’s important to note that Trump didn’t announce he was running for President again until after they found all that evidence. It was his only way to stay out of prison and he knew it. Will Hurd, the Republican congressman and former CIA agent, said so at a major Republican event in Iowa during his candidacy for president in 2024.
The swipe at Biden on the way down was pathetic. I believe he did that in a last ditch effort to regain rapport with the crowd , because he realized they don’t give a shit.
Will Hurd was not elected President.

To be perfectly fair, if this were a normal raid for real evidence, the public probably wouldn't know what was found until the evidence is presented in court. But I can't imagine what possible evidence could exist, so I feel comfortable assuming they weren't really looking for anything, they just wanted a headline to criminalize the evil Somali woman.

Even if it were true, i don't understand how that would make her liable today.
her father submitted paperwork and the state department approved it. that's on the state department if it was wrongly approved. That's not even considering if the "mistake" merits any criminal investigation in the first place.
This is all just chum to feed their followers and confirm their bias that Somalis are criminals with Omar leading them.
