what the hell is a military college, i looked it up. Do you sign up to the military and they go there after basic training or is it like just a college that pretends to be in the military and gives you a route to officer training if you join the military after?
In other words, is it just a college with ROTC type programs they have for highschool kids where they larp being in the military and probably do physical training every day... but it's still just college?
Because even without your dad as the guy in charge, she's acting like this is akin to going through seal training when in reality she completed military larp college?
citadel specifically is the worst its the backup for kids that arent smart or connected enough to get into the service academies.....plenty of normal schools out there if you want to do ROTC hell go to A&M its a senior military college too but way less weird about it. I dont understand at all why you would got to citadel and not do ROTC shits weird
Because they want to be a pilot. Citadel has a pipeline for commissioning over to that. Several current pilots I've worked with took this route, and I'm an army medic 😅 I don't know that many pilots, so it says something if several took the same route
And honestly, not trying to defend the private academy idea; but that whole 'they're the worst, go A&M' kinda screams school rivalry. All these schools take their cadet life far too seriously.
So you know one, and despite the easily verifiable fact that as little as 30% of Citadel grads actually join the military, you choose to believe your own lie?
ROTC is a legitimate path to becoming a pilot at least in the airforce although its far from a guarentee and i doubt citadel gives you advantage over someone doing ROTC at a normal state school. At its core thats all the citadel is everyone is a "cadet" even if they arent doing ROTC which is the weird part.
Citadel is a senior military school. The idea is to graduate and commission as an officer. It turns out officers not typical grunts. Show some respect.
Confused on how I'm disrespecting officers on my posts, but feel free to interpret it how you like.
Though I'll concede I'm not really of a mind to give any deference to the pomp of any university. A tradition of pretend military is still playing pretend.
It's all just potential officers until they commission.
FWIW that whole 'not your typical grunts' is a pretty funny point to roll with.
i mean dont get me wrong it is still weird just... less than the citadel only a small fraction of the student body does the cadet thing citadel is the inverse
Sound like you weren't up to the Citadel standard......JK.
Heard an actual LT say the "Citadel standard" bit before, almost lost my eyes they rolled so hard.
Academies are already seen as lame shit for larpers and rich kids and even they make fun of the Citadel lol. 100% of the best officers I've met are (almost always) just Mustangs that graduated from a random ass college.
I mean, I met actual West Point and Air Force Academy students - I studied abroad at a place where most of the international students were from there. They lived up to the reputation. Its definitely a better education than the average university.
