So isn't "shrinkflation" also stealing, then? Why the double standard when it works against the consumer? people are brainwashed into loving systemic capitalism, even when it does nothing but hurt them.

Its so crazy. Companies can do crazy anticonsumer stuff and half the consumers defend them.

Its only a crime when poor people do it.

Theft? Most prevalent form in the US is wage theft.

Violence? The state literally has a monopoly on violence.

Murder? Check Brian Thompsons KDR.

The issue is more that you're stealing from the franchisee vs McDonald's. Mcd still makes pretty much the same amount of money. The franchisee is losing money and may have to cut wages and bonuses and positions to make up for the lost revenue assuming they don't find out its you doing it.

I might half-heartedly agree, except a franchisee is not the same as a family/mom-and-pop shop. Franchises are absolutely part of the corporate capitalist greed machine. They are heavily influenced/controlled by their corporate office. Look at McDonald’s trying to use AI to determine peak supply/demand times to influence pricing! That’s not the “franchisee” doing it. So again, we’re at a double standard where you want to protect the company from being hurt by the consumer, but don’t mind the consumer being hurt by the company.
