America just contracts out their dictatorship to Private companies while the government gets to play democratic.

u/Biosterous Sep 14 '26
Fascism by its nature requires the cooperation of monopolies with the state.
Mussolini was well supported by Italian industrialists, without their support the March on Rome would have been a spectacular failure. Instead they pressured the king to capitulate to Mussolini's demands.
The Nazi party was intricately tied into major German companies and provided many of them with slave labour (VW, etc) or slaves to kill during human trials (Bauer). Large industrialists were early supporters of Hitler.
Look at the absolute control exhibited by Samsung and other massive companies in South Korea both during their military dictatorships and current democracy.
I'm not as familiar with Spain and Portugal's fascist governments but I have no reason to believe they were any different.
Fascism requires the cooperation of massive monopolies, and they profit from the state maintaining their monopoly status. Media monopolies are especially important, but as you can see here monopolies have a way of enforcing the state's will.

Why does it feel like Israel controls so many Industries in the US?
Like a speech about Palestine results in all venues dropping the entire concert?!

Robert Kraft is pro-Israel and owns Gillette Stadium. He rallied his fellow owners into stopping something he didn't personally like.
These owners are petty as shit. James Dolan uses facial recognition and bans whoever he doesn't like.
So, I don't think this is some insidious plot by Israel. Just a dude that fucking hates pro-Palestinian people with the reach to make a difference about the issue. Whereas most of us can just post stuff online.

I don’t disagree, but based on the article I’m not seeing a connection
> While two of those stadiums are privately owned — Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough — the rest are owned and, in many cases, operated by cities, states, or other government entities, potentially raising First Amendment issues if the venues barred Macklemore over his statements.
Seems more to do with pro-Israel groups:
> This spurred much criticism and backlash from pro-Israel groups. StopAntisemitism accused the rapper of ambushing fans with “anti-Israel propaganda” in an Instagram post, which the pop singer Pink amplified.
And this:
> Additionally, the Israeli American Council launched a petitiondemanding Sheeran remove Macklemore from the rest of the tour…
Sounds like this guy Robert Kraft:
> In a statement shared on Instagram, Macklemore claimed he was dropped from the tour after Robert Kraft — the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium — mounted a pressure campaign against Sheeran.
Has a tons of business ties to Israel. So not sure what live nation/ticketmaster have to do with this

u/PiaJr Sep 14 '26
Thank you for sharing accurate information. It is rarely as clear as it is here that people don't read the article. Headline + Personal Beliefs are all people need to feel like they have enough to publicly speak on a topic. It's frustrating...

u/contattomarketing Sep 14 '26
Trump intervened with the DOJ to get them to settle the antitrust case instead of going to trial, which allowed LiveNation to keep Ticketmaster without major penalties.
This came after their CEO, Michael Rapino, met with Trump at the WH so Trump could get clarity on booking and operations for the Kennedy Center.
Directly after the meeting, Trump called the DOJ.
Hopefully that explains the thread running through all of this.

u/hudson27 Sep 14 '26
I don't know if folks are putting all the pieces together on this one, probably because of the vague headline.
Macklemore spoke out about the genocide currently being committed by Israel, that's why he's in trouble. The venue's shouldn't give a damn, nor should LiveNation, nor should Trump. This is how far Israeli influence makes it in the American entertainment industry; they hear about some rapper making a fuss, they call the Prez, who calls the CEO of LiveNation, who has monopolized every venue and concert in the country, and pulls him from the bill.
Every company is compromised, I'll me lucky if Reddit even lets me post this with all the hot-button keywords I just dropped, free speech be damned

According to Macklemore, it was Robert Kraft who pulled the trigger. He got a bunch of the remaining stadium owners to put out the threat
101
u/vivalamatty Sep 14 '26
A couple of gems from Kraft's Wikipedia page:
"In 2026, it was revealed that Kraft had kept a relationship with child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and that Epstein had recommended Kraft use his lawyer to defeat the charges"
"Kraft has had a longtime friendship with Donald Trump that dates back to the 1990s.\148]) In 2017, he donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration day celebrations.\149]) Kraft had made donations to Trump's presidential campaign as well...Trump named Kraft's wife, Dana Blumberg, to the board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Blumberg was appointed to replace Carlos Elizondo on the board as part of a greater effort by Trump to purge members of the board and exert control over it.\144])\153])\154])"
"In June 2019, Kraft received Israel's Genesis Prize. While at the event in Jerusalem, Kraft pledged $20 million to establish a foundation that will fight antisemitism and combat the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel"
"In April 2024, during the Gaza solidarity protests at Columbia University, Kraft stopped funding the university "over the treatment of Jewish students and faculty during pro-Palestinian protests at the campus", citing "virulent hate."
59
u/Otterhendrix Sep 14 '26
Don’t forget this one as well!
“Since 2017, Robert Kraft has owned two Boeing 767 private jets used by the New England Patriots. [114 ] As of June 2022, one of these jets had been used for at least 3 flights deporting migrants from the United States to Honduras.”

Ed Sheeran is also "normie music" and a lot of those ticket sales are probably from people who froth violently when "free" and "Palestine" show up in a sentence together.
I dont think Lorde has that kind of fan base

In the early 2000s, "Dear Mr. President" was an impactful song putting into words just how fucked up the war was. We all knew it was awful and many artists pushed back.

Dear Mr President was performative. When it came out The Chicks had already been raked across the coals for years for speaking up against Bush. She jumped on the bandwagon when the tide was already turning and it was more palatable to criticise the war.
6
u/ToraRyeder Sep 14 '26
I agree with you. Back then, I didn't know. 9/11 was when I was in second grade I think? I followed The Dixie Chicks at the time and LOVED them. I didn't understand the backlash and remember when "Not Ready to Make Nice" came out. 90% certain they changed their name after the genre was divided after that.
Celebrities are able to hide behind their music and let fans think what they want. The Chicks have been clear in their music and action that they don't put up with this. I'm learning now (so many years later) that Pink is not the same. Fucking hate that.

Something something anti trust laws.
If 'venue owners' can control what stars can say/sing about across the whole country, there is something wrong with the system.
IE one venue owner saying I don't support the belief that 'x is repressed, you can't play here' is within their rights.
When a single corporation can get an artist booted off a tour, especially when his music is recently very much anti repression then there is something wrong.

“As the concert promoter for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour, we have been notified by venues on the upcoming U.S. tour dates that they will not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup, which would result in the cancellation of the tour and impact hundreds of thousands of fans. After discussions with stakeholders, Macklemore will not be performing on the remaining support dates.”
