This is a guy who actually stands to lose by standing up for what he believes in. His career is just starting, and supporting Sheeran would have been the biggest break he could possibly get.

It would have been so much easier for the extremely rich, extremely successful headliner to say all this, but he decided not to. For anyone who has always disliked Ed Sheeran and felt a bit bad about it because he seemed inoffensive, this is a vindicating day.

u/jemappellelara Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

You have Aaron Rowe, this small artist, calling what’s happening in Gaza what it is - a genocide. Meanwhile in Ed’s statement he kept referring to the genocide as a “war” or “conflict”

861

u/poopsididitagen Sep 15 '26

He even says both sides are to blame!

522

u/Greenman8907 Sep 15 '26

But he wants to build bridges! Not to anywhere controversial and only as long as his billionaire bridge constructors approve it.

141

u/YannTheOtter Sep 15 '26

If he wants to build bridges, Southern Lebanon needs some...

18

u/Essembie Sep 15 '26

Gonna say - tonnes of bridges need to be rebuilt in Gaza. Maybe he can start there.

2

u/Almondghast_5371 Sep 16 '26

Until they start the next war, eh?

-2

u/DesireeThymes Sep 15 '26

He is more interested in supporting absolute demolisiom.

Have you seen what southern Lebanon? Its starting to look like Gaza.

This is from April

3

u/Stealth_Cow Sep 15 '26

He couldn’t build Jeff Bridges!

4

u/FaxCelestis Sep 15 '26

Tony Stark built Jeff Bridges IN A CAVE.

WITH A BOX OF SCRAAAAAAPS!

1

u/ghostpicnic Sep 15 '26

He wants to build a bridge to nowhere, perfectly between both sides, careful not to cross either one.

Sounds like a useless bridge to me.

1

u/justdrowsing Sep 15 '26

Ugh isn't that what Olly Alexander said to justify doing Eurovision despite calls to boycott 💀💀

107

u/Do_Not_Go_In_There Sep 15 '26

I really don't see how someone can look at dead kids and say "well, it was their own fault they were bombed."

Hamas, sure. Not the children, never the children.

4

u/Dylabaloo Sep 15 '26

You realise the majority of Hamas consists of those bombed children but grown-up. Some estimates have it as high as 85%.

8

u/Sandgrease Sep 16 '26

Can't really blame them. This is the definition of Blow Back.

→ More replies (2)

-14

u/dndplosion913 Sep 15 '26

At what point did anyone on any side say "it's the children's fault they died"? People are rightfully saying that war is horrific and there is no way to wage it without innocent people dying, as is true in every war in history.

12

u/floralbir Sep 15 '26

It's a genocide

10

u/Individual_Fall429 Sep 15 '26

It’s a genocide.

You guys know their PM is wanted internationally for war crimes, right? Things like… blocking medical aid and food to Gaza, for example. Which is something you should know about.

Thats not “any war.” It’s a war crime, period, and Netanyahu will be tried at The Hague.

-8

u/dndplosion913 Sep 15 '26

War crimes and genocide are not the same thing. Again, words have meaning. Bibi is a war criminal and should be tried at The Hague. Same with Putin, same with members of Hamas. Food and medical aid are now going into Gaza - If Israel's intent was eliminating the population there they would not be allowing anything to go in. And a country with Israel's military capability could've wiped out every Palestinian on Day Two if that was their goal. It clearly wasn't.

-2

u/ProtestTheHero Sep 16 '26

Have you ever actually seen anyone say that it's the children's own fault they were bombed? Because I sure haven't

6

u/jeppijonny Sep 16 '26

I did see many people imply it was acceptable collateral damage though.

→ More replies (1)

-2

u/Hyronious Sep 15 '26

Wait, Ed blamed the children?

-4

u/ProtestTheHero Sep 16 '26

No, no he didn't. It's just dumbass people on reddit (or bots) making shit up either out of pure ignorance or to stoke division and conflict

→ More replies (1)

14

u/NorysStorys Sep 15 '26

And he has pictures on the state of Israel instagram with one of the hostages. His claim of not being political really doesn’t check out.

1

u/Almondghast_5371 Sep 16 '26

How very dare he! If only hamas had executed the hostage, eh?

Or tortured them so much they killed themselves before Sheeran could profit from them…?

2

u/NorysStorys Sep 16 '26

It’s not the meeting that’s political, it’s allowing a government social media to post it, that makes it political

14

u/Polymarchos Sep 15 '26

Speaking as someone who is pro Palestinian, there is blame on both sides. Palestinian Leadership has been horrible, and almost an asset to the Israeli genocide of their people.

2

u/westoidoid Sep 16 '26

you are not pro-palestinian lmao who are you kidding?

1

u/maydarnothing at_oussama Sep 17 '26

Hamas wouldn't exist without Israel, both in term of human resources (it's palestinians who lost their families and close people) and finances (Israel financed them)

0

u/Almondghast_5371 Sep 16 '26

Mainly Palestinian. Hamas are neo-Nazi, Jew hating cunt stains.

6

u/AstroPhysician soundcloud.com/thedjphil Sep 15 '26

i mean oct 7 did happen, despite everything since

3

u/JMC_MASK Sep 15 '26

He talked to activists from both sides!

What do you mean both sides? Like genocide activists? We call those Nazis and we should handle them as we did in WW2.

4

u/therealjgreens therealjgreens Sep 15 '26

They are.

1

u/poopsididitagen Sep 15 '26

Equally?

1

u/therealjgreens therealjgreens Sep 15 '26

Its not that easy

3

u/atbths Sep 15 '26

There are good guys on both sides, amirite?

2

u/yousmartyouloyal1 Sep 15 '26

So October 7th didn't happen in your eyes? Genuine question

6

u/TyroPirate Sep 15 '26

Nothing... nothing at all, can justify genocide. Not even a genocide can justify commiting another as response.

Also, Israel has been commiting October 7ths long before the October 7 attacks happeneds.

1

u/PurpleAntifreeze Sep 15 '26

That’s because they are. Don’t pretend that Hamas and Palestine have never been aggressors in this multi-decade conflict. That makes you a fucking liar.

16

u/Partner-Elijah Sep 15 '26

Sure but that's not what is currently happening at this stage of the conflict

Currently, one nation's military is wiping out an entire civilization, including the hospitals, schools, and children. To completion.

May have sstarted as a conflict, but it's a genocide at this point.

-6

u/MichelangeloCzech Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

1,300 people were killed in Gaza this entire year so far. That's hardly a genocide when there are 2.1 million people packed in a 141 square mile area. I would hardly call that destroying them "to completion".

5

u/selwayfalls Sep 15 '26

Atleast 73k confirmed deaths of Palenstians since Oct. 7th. But I guess it's fine cause "only" 1,300 this year. Children shouldnt count too. /s

-2

u/MichelangeloCzech Sep 15 '26

The person I replied to said "currently". I provided the current stats.

And children were counted in that 1,300.

1

u/selwayfalls Sep 15 '26

1,300 is a lot of people and children. But maybe this will help you what a genocide is, it's about INTENT:

Under international law, there is no minimum number of deaths required to classify an event as a genocide.

Genocide is defined by the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group.

0

u/MichelangeloCzech Sep 15 '26

By this logic, any deadly hate crime is a genocide.

Also, the INTENT is to stop Hamas from shooting missiles. Israel isn't bombing indiscriminately. They are shooting down places where Hamas is firing from. If Hamas just gave up, Israel would stop.

u/Procrastinatedthink Sep 15 '26

Palestine was the original state, Isreal was created by carving out land that people already lived in for up to hundreds of generations.

This is like saying “You see that guy trying to kill the person who broke into his house and killed half of his family, he’s just as at fault for this conflict!!!”

0

u/Almondghast_5371 Sep 16 '26

Yeah, Jewish people. Now get to fuck

2

u/Rage_Like_Nic_Cage Sep 15 '26

Literally nothing justifies genocide. Even another genocide. You cannot “both sides” a genocide.

-5

u/Tdffan03 Sep 15 '26

Exactly!

1

u/ProtestTheHero Sep 16 '26

And you have a problem with that..??

1

u/Milly_Hagen Sep 16 '26

You can't "both sides" a genocide.....yet Ed Sheeran is apparently the first person to try. What a spineless ghoul.

1

u/ParrotShirt Sep 17 '26

You know literally zero about the conflict if you have a problem with that statement. This is just performative nonsense at the end of the day. No Palestinian children were helped or harmed by either Macklemore’s or Ed Sheeran’s stance but thousands of people’s jobs were put at risk.

3

4

u/LambxSauce Sep 15 '26

In a genocide? Not really mate

-2

-1

u/LambxSauce Sep 15 '26

Your “both sides” fallacious attempt at rationalising a genocide confirmed by over 100 international organisations is disguising. Be better.

-6

u/TenaciousPanda95 Sep 15 '26

Well Palestine isn't exactly the good guys everyone claims them to be and nor is Isreal. Both places commit genocide...so Ed's not even wrong. I'll probably get flamed for this but whatever...

7

u/poopsididitagen Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

"Both places commit genocide"

What?

Eta: do you know what genocide means?

2

u/Rage_Like_Nic_Cage Sep 15 '26

Didn’t you know, kkkkhamas did the holocaust

4

u/selwayfalls Sep 15 '26

Palestinians are also committing genocide? uhh, wut?

Remember the USS Liberty?

4

u/sneakypiiiig Sep 15 '26

That little nugget never reached their eyes or ears because it wasn’t Israeli approved news.

2

u/chompythebeast Sep 15 '26

Yeah, and we just passed the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. Your point?

0

u/El0vution Sep 16 '26

BOTH SIDES ARE OBVIOUSLY TO BLAME

2

u/poopsididitagen Sep 16 '26

Equally to blame?

0

u/El0vution Sep 16 '26

That’s outside my pay grade, I’ll let God be the judge of that.

-6

u/january-7 Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

Okay so Israel is to blame for October 7th? I don’t understand how that is negated. While not a perfect comparison, I can understand why Al-qaeda had extremist opinions and hatred towards the American government, but does that mean I justify 9/11?? Hell no! October 7 was an act of war, whether warranted or not, so now you have…war.

People would not have liked the civilian casualties the bombings of Dresden required in order to beat the Nazis. Social media has added a new element to war that has ALWAYS existed prior.

The Israelis are not a monolith. There are citizens who support the government, citizens who oppose it, and people in between.

Palestinians are not a monolith. There are citizens who support hamas, citizens who oppose it, and people in between.

See the issue?

1

u/Royal_Start9073 Sep 15 '26

Proportionality is the issue

1

u/alby333 Sep 16 '26

Essentially yes an oppressed people will always fight back against thst oppression. The only way to avoid oppressed people fighting back is to not oppress people

1

u/january-7 Sep 16 '26

I completely agree with this. However point blank shooting newborns and babies is, in my opinion, outside the bounds of fighting your oppressor. This goes for both sides regardless of the circumstances /reasons for the fight (again in my opinion).

0

u/alby333 Sep 16 '26

Good job thst was just made up then. Unlike the bombing of maternity wards. Be cared not to spread israeli state propaganda

1

u/poopsididitagen Sep 15 '26

Free Palestine

2

Free Palestine and Israel from both war-mongering political regimes

this is giving aaron pr though. i would have never heard of him if he didn't make the statement. tbh i don't know who ed or the other guy were either, but since it's starting to blow up i listened to their stuff.

5

u/havingsomedifficulty Sep 15 '26

Legitimately how is Israel this fucking powerful

7

u/Bad_Edditor8910 Sep 15 '26

The US government, man. Look at how many military bases the US has worldwide, look at every country's reserve currency, look at all the McDonald's branches... Israelis just speak Hebrew but everyone understands what they want and deliver it to them. AIPAC is the translator.

1

u/Douglas1994 Sep 15 '26

Most likely the constant political lobbying / bribery.

1

u/pi3r0gi_ Sep 15 '26

All while waking up in his big fluffy bed every morning

1

u/CombNo8663 Sep 15 '26

“It’s not my choice” “I don’t make things political” is just a bad translation of “those Zi0’s scare me, I’m a big pussy”

1

u/bespindeathspin Sep 15 '26

Don’t forget to support Beoga as well!

1

u/Main_Damage_7717 Sep 16 '26

and expressing concern for people hurt by the phrase "Free Palestine"

1

u/Meekrobb Sep 15 '26

You get more publicity supporting P than you do opening for ed sheeran. That's the reality. Theres sooooo much money to be made by jumping on this bandwagon that all of these no names do it and magically become "someone"

0

u/SuperSluglord Sep 15 '26

Idk him but I’m gonna stream rn!

0

u/ExtraTerrestriaI Sep 15 '26

Could it be that Ed is in the right here and the media has convinced people he's not?

0

u/Boring-Election2660 Sep 16 '26

Which is true, moron!!

0

u/RROORRYY Sep 16 '26 edited Sep 16 '26

How can you be so delusional, or are you just pure evil? This is war, and the genocide claim is only true for Hamas, you, and other nazis here. No court or relevant country claims otherwise. But I guess Hamas, Macklemore and u/jemappellelara know better

-5

u/Kindled808 Sep 15 '26

Forgive my ignorance, but who are they fighting then? Isn’t it a conflict with Palestine forces?

6

u/RedditLodgick Sep 15 '26

Many genocides take place alongside wars, but are notably distinct. The Holocaust occurred during WW2. The Rwandan Genocide occurred during the Civil War. The Gaza Genocide is occurring during the Gaza War. But it would be wrong to conflate the genocide and the war. In responding to criticism about the genocide, he incorrectly (albeit almost certainly purposely) referenced the war.

1

u/Splendafarts Sep 15 '26

It’s a longstanding colonial occupation. Imagine someone breaks into your house and kills your family and forces you flee. Then you eventually go back to the house and kill the person who stole it from you. Is that aggression? Palestinians are fighting back against an occupying force. Israel is mostly killing civilians in the tens, hundreds of thousands which is why this is called a genocide.

1

u/Rupder Sep 15 '26

It's not that the language is per se incorrect — yes, there is a war/conflict involving Israel on one side and Palestine/Gaza/Hamas on the other — but as with all language choices, his decision to use that particular language in place of other terms (like genocide) conveys substantive information that, whether he's conscious of it or not, serves to obfuscate the severity of Israeli actions and atrocities. By referring to it as a conflict instead of calling it a genocide, Sheeran implicitly frames the Gaza War as a military dispute between peer nation-states, whereas calling it a genocide frames it as a humanitarian crisis inflicted by a militarily dominant regional power upon a comparatively far weaker and largely defenceless occupied neighbour state.

In other words, there's no such thing as truly neutral or impartial language in politics, and Sheeran's effort to speak impartially nevertheless presents a version of the events that minimizes Israel's responsibility/culpability. His statement attributes blame to both sides, and in so doing, does not acknowledge the degree to which the IDF has an outsized responsibility to prevent harm according to Israel's overwhelming military and material superiority in the conflict. Sheeran does not acknowledged the degree to which Western military-political support for Israel harms Palestinian civilians in contradiction to the laws and conventions defined by organizations like the International Criminal Court which our nations have otherwise formally agreed to abide by. He argues that "my fame and platform [are] a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open," yet I would argue that this position of feigned neutrality ironically contradicts the statements from the actual international fora for peace and diplomacy which have roundly condemned Israeli leaders for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

This isn't to say that Sheeran is the worst person around. There are many other, far worse actors who do openly support increasing war in the world, and who openly support Israeli war crimes against Palestinians. Rather, the manner in which he presented the issue reveals mere complicity. He explicitly rebukes the charge of complicity in his statements — he says he has "personal views on this devastating conflict" but doesn't act on them publicly — but all this reveals is that he thinks complicity means "openly supporting evil" rather than "allowing others to act through my own inaction." It is perhaps this type of inaction, hypocrisy, or inconsistency which has generated such public furor.

-17

u/Alternative-Pear9096 Sep 15 '26

Because there is no genocide and what happened is Gaza in 2023 was a war.

Your stupidity is staggering.

I've always found him such an overrated yet seemingly good-natured artist so I held my tongue and ngl the past few hours of watching the internet turn against him makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I'll make space for you guys on the hate train!

192

u/Intelligent_Oil7816 Sep 15 '26

Basically this. I've been having a good time finally seeing people turn on that dweeb.

37

u/TheCygnusWall Sep 15 '26

I had so much joy when people finally started turning on Elon lol

6

u/lalagromedontknow Sep 16 '26

Oh I cannot WAIT to watch the Musk documentary and feel validated in the... Looking at him/hearing him talk has always given me an almost visceral urgh no

4

u/Flattars Sep 16 '26

Oh my god. I'm an energy and environmental engineer, studied between 2013-2018, and holy fuck was it annoying to hear Elon here, Elon there all the fucking time. Been telling people something is off about him for ages, but meh. People bought Tesla's left and right anyway.

4

u/caustictoast Sep 16 '26

As an OG hater, I couldn't believe when people finally realized that every word out of his mouth was bullshit and he never once hit a self-imposed deadline.

9

u/jambrand Sep 15 '26

lol that is an extremely appropriate jpeg, well played

3

u/thr0war0seaway Sep 16 '26

"I knew it."

3

u/raphaeldown Sep 15 '26

my people! I feel seen

0

u/therealjgreens therealjgreens Sep 15 '26

Get off the internet lol

5

u/entcanta333 Sep 15 '26

Fr I have a habit of hating on "too nice" people so I'm really just feeling vindicated here lol

3

u/EnergyDrinkerr Sep 15 '26

I’ve waited for this day for a long time for the same reasons. Seemed like a good enough guy so why elaborate on how grating and empty calorie his music is

2

u/GoredonTheDestroyer Sep 15 '26

I was once told by a lady at the grocery store that I kind of looked like Ed Sheeran and I still don't know how I feel about that even like six years later.

1

u/TheTipsyWizard Sep 16 '26

Just like his music, his statement was, uninspiring

41

u/datyoungknockoutkid Sep 15 '26

Honestly he might just gain more popularity by doing this

5

u/heyiknowstuff Sep 15 '26

100%. Not to be cynical but I’m sure it was talked about.

2

u/datyoungknockoutkid Sep 15 '26

Yep. People give these people the benefit of the doubt before even thinking sometimes, just because they did something they like.

4

u/TheSchmoAboutNothing Sep 15 '26

Two things can be true at the same time. Don't think looking at all sides objectively is necessarily a bad thing.

136

u/Traditional-Hurry425 Sep 15 '26

As a small artist we can all at least follow them on Spotify or like their YouTube

26

u/PompousTart Sep 15 '26

Yep. Instant Tidal follow and likes.

16

u/Its_Lupis Sep 15 '26

Instant follow and I liked a couple Of his songs so I become a monthly listener while I’m shuffling

1

u/spicydimirchristine Sep 15 '26

He’s got one new fan on Apple Music, if nothing else!

1

u/finneyblackphone Sep 16 '26

And buy tickets to future shows. It's funny that he played a surprise pop-up show in an Irish pub in london tonight on short notice. I'd say the place was hopping.

1

u/AWinnipegGuy Sep 16 '26

Even better, buy their stuff. Streaming gives them practically nothing, ESPECIALLY the small artists.

110

u/SillyAlternative420 Sep 15 '26

Macklemore and Aaron need to start a "Free Palestine" tour. I'd pay good money to support this

26

u/Hmmmm-curious Sep 15 '26

Lukas Graham dropped out, too. He made a fantastic statement that aligns with human decency. Give him some love, too.

50

u/Polymarchos Sep 15 '26

Problem is the rich people who own the stadiums and concert halls wouldn't allow that. They wouldn't be playing in the US.

56

u/TrailerParkBuddha Sep 15 '26

There are all kinds of mid level venues all around the country in cities of every size. Not everything has to be at a massive arena. Bring the music to the people.

9

u/Busybakson Sep 15 '26

Parks and fields

6

u/West-Worth-9359 Sep 15 '26

But they could play in Europe and sell streaming access to Americans for $20 and donate that money to charity.

2

u/Nottheadviceyaafter Sep 15 '26

The us is becoming more and more irrelevant by the day. So what they will sell out everywhere else. The world aint just the failing states

0

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Sep 16 '26

The US is still by far the world's largest economy, and a higher per Capita consumption spending than any other country. It absolutely will remain a destination for artists looking to make big money

1

u/Nottheadviceyaafter Sep 16 '26

Yeah 330 million vs 7 billion. Your a market in decline.

1

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Sep 17 '26

I'm not American. And yeah, they do world tours as well, but nowhere is close to the same level of commercialism

3

u/trailovsevens Sep 15 '26

A Macklemore , Aaron and Tom tour coincidentally would probably sell many tickets off of the back of this shit show

29

u/seasonmaster Sep 15 '26

Personally, for the longest time I didn’t listen to enough of Ed Sheeran’s music or know enough about the guy himself to have an opinion, but I was aware that he was the butt of a fair amount of jokes. I wasn’t opposed to his music or anything, but I never had the urge to seek it out, either.

Then someone introduced me to Nancy Mulligan, a song about Sheeran’s grandparents falling in love and getting married despite the backlash towards their different religious backgrounds. I honestly thought it was a super cool song about how grateful he was that his grandparents stayed true to each other and themselves despite the hardship that came with forsaking the approval of authority figures, and I couldn’t help but smile any time it came up on my playlists. But now? Now I can’t help but wonder if Ed Sheeran can’t be bothered to emulate the courage of his grandparents when it matters most.

4

u/WeWantLADDER49sequel Sep 15 '26

I agree with the general sentiment here but he stands to lose the least actually. He is now going to gain tons of fame and money because of this. When you're so small with a tiny fanbase any stance you take that's an easy win with a crowd of people just means more eyes on you. I’m not saying he did this just for attention, but this will obviously have a major positive impact on his career.

4

u/Abacus118 Sep 15 '26

He's so up and coming, his IG username has to have 2 underscores in it.

4

u/Happy-Tumbleweed-469 Sep 15 '26

Never heard of him or his music. Just bought tickets to one of his solo shows.

10

u/PACMAN0317 Sep 15 '26

However, he could definitely gain a bigger career from this

10

u/Chaantii Sep 15 '26

Hopefully he does

This would signal that there is a change in society. We want to support people who stand or morals and values that align instead of believing there’s nothing we can do

7

u/pagerussell Sep 15 '26

I've never heard of him but I am about to go listen. Who knows if I will like his art, but this is better marketing than he can buy.

3

u/tsubatai Sep 15 '26

This was my first thought as it's exactly what I would do as a first reaction. Id say the publicity from the news story and people listening to you to support you might be better than some unheard of warm up actually that most people are at the bar for.

But what I woulda done is chanted the moderated slogan into one of my songs, donated my paycheck and then quit the tour.

3

u/brady376 Bandcamp Sep 15 '26

Yeah I haven't heard of this guy but I'm gonna go look him up now to see what his stuff sounds like

3

u/MaddLadd9 Sep 15 '26

Technically, depending on your end game, this could be the exact type of thing that could elevate their status.

3

u/ms640 Sep 15 '26

I’ve never even heard of him, but I’m going to look him up right now!!

3

u/ImLeg4llyBlind Sep 15 '26

I’ve ALWAYS hated that fucking guy. Idk something just gave me a weird vibe about him and I was fucking right. 🤣
https://giphy.com/gifs/iSxPmDWr97248

3

u/_steve_rogers_ Sep 15 '26

I have no idea who this guy is but I have a ton of respect for him now. It's crazy how hard it seems for almost any other celebrities to make a similar statement these days.

5

u/CLGplz Sep 15 '26

Yeah I disliked him before for the shallow reason that he insisted on doing those godawful acoustic guitar-hiphop hybrid songs instead of sticking to his lane of vapid, toothless ballads.

And now there’s plenty of reasons

2

u/EggsceIlent Sep 15 '26

Everyone's got a price, and I guess we just found out what Ed Sheeran's price is.

2

u/kaninkanon Sep 15 '26

You think he isn't counting on getting half a million insta followers in the next week?

2

u/VeryTopGoodSensation Sep 15 '26

i was thinking earlier how ed could have made such a statement. that he has generational wealth already and would be fine. i didnt realise he has a net worth of 300 fucking million.

think of the publicity it would have got "ed sheeran tour cancelled by robert kraft"

2

u/manubibi Sep 16 '26

I definitely feel vindicated because I always thought his tracks are so lukewarm, safe, insignificant to anyone who isn’t a rich white person whose main problem is finding a spot at Dorsia and a place for rich folks to go sniff cocaine after while they gossip.

Ed has more to lose for saying anything. The government can revoke his visa and ban him from entering the US to send a message

Plus it’s HIS tour, if he cancels he’s still on the hook for millions of dollars of expenses (like Bieber was for cancelling his tour). I’m protesting doesn’t fall under anything insurance would cover so it’s out of HIS pocket

He’d also be hurting the little people (service industry, stage hands, etc.) working those days, because they wouldn’t get paid

It’s a tough spot for Ed Sheeran

points at dead Palestinian kid

looks at Ed Sheeran’s 470 million dollar net worth

playing tiniest violin for Ed. Boo hoo!

Maybe on the other side of that coin, this guy saw an opportunity to get more reach by grabbing some headlines. It’s still admirable what he did, but we can’t rightly know if there weren’t other deciding factors

I'll be adding him to some playlists to support him. Good for him standing on his beliefs and being on the right side of history.

1

u/AgitatedRabbits Sep 15 '26

He couldn't get a better PR than this.

From a business perspective, he knows exactly what he is doing. This whole thing is so fucking stupid.

1

u/Saki-Koda Sep 15 '26

Sort of backwards here.

Ed has everything to lose as he is at the top

This guy has less to lose and everything to gain by making taking risks. (Not that risky since so many are awake about Israel now)

Not saying that is his motivation just saying

Can we get a Macklemore/Aaron Rowe tour now?

1

u/oceansunset83 Sep 15 '26

And it’s made worse because at least one of Ed’s grandparents were Irish.

1

u/mediocre_cheese Sep 15 '26

I’ve never felt bad about disliking Ed Sheeran and his bitch-ass milquetoast ear sludge

1

u/FollowTheRabbitz Sep 16 '26

Ed made an entire song using the Iranian people and then didn’t say anything at all when thousands and thousands of them were murdered by the Islamic regime which has occupied Iran since 1977. Ed is not a good guy.

I’ve always disliked him. He gave me the ick despite on paper being everything I love about an acoustic artist/busker.

I feel quite vindicated - he was dirty on the inside!

u/gobbluthillusions Sep 16 '26

Yes, and think of the message it sends. If only a few certain people in Washington would take a stand we wouldn’t be in this mess.

1

u/Ramenpucci Sep 16 '26

I never liked him.

He’s been added to Dermot Kennedy’s tour so he isn’t really missing much luckily!

1

u/gleekitsolly Sep 15 '26

Just followed him on his socials and added all his stuff in Apple Music as well should right now.

The extremely rich headliner doesn't give a fuck about anything but his bank balance. He neither supported not opposed Macklemore's racist bulllshit. He only reacted when venues told him they were cancelling on him if Macklmore stayed.

Silence is violence and compliance; Sheeran only cares about taking your money.

Macklemore's racist bulllshit

What

2

u/vendrediSamedi Tom Petty✒️ Sep 15 '26

Sorry what racist bullshit

0

u/Informal_West_6864 Sep 15 '26

He doesn’t actually care though….hes just doing it for publicity as well because he sees how the hate is coming.

0

u/Unserious_Cow Sep 15 '26

Brb gotta go buy all his music real quick

0

u/Gatnyr Sep 15 '26

Time to stream Aaron Rowe on loop!

-12

u/Alternative_Exit8766 Sep 15 '26

and ed can lose his career for standing what he believes in

13

u/jake_burger Sep 15 '26

Not really. Ed Sheeran is just doing victory laps of the world at this point making hundreds of millions a year.

He could stand to lose a couple of venues and still make the same or more money.

am i not allowed to hope?
