article The Clash & LONDON CALLING
LONDON CALLING (1979): It remains a thrilling listen, forever making good on its intentions to exhilarate and enthrall.

Lost in the Supermarket is probably my favourite Clash song.
Love the album, put it on the other day when I was out for a walk, was the first time I'd listened in a while, and it still sounds incredible.

If you haven’t listened deeply to topper’s drum patterns, check it out. One of the things that really sets this album apart from others. That, and obviously joe strummer’s prophetic drunken rambling.
Clampdown, lost in the supermarket, Spanish bombs, every track is a banger actually. Then they end it with train in vain almost like an afterthought, which is one of the best pop songs I can think of from the era.

Probably their best album, as much as I like their debut and it's more 'pure punk' this is just so well-rounded, so many iconic songs, really elevated them from a punk band to one of the great rock n'roll bands of all time.

There are only a handful of albums that I listened to for the first time and had to listen to the whole thing again over and over again. This is one of them and I keep going back to it after 47 years.

Spanish Bombs, Death or Glory, Clampdown, Rudy Can’t Fail, Guns of Brixton, Train In Vain, Lost in the Supermarket, The Card Cheat, etc.…the entire album is massive classic. Beginning to end.

Nothing ANY band from that era does after its first two albums is worth making a big deal about. It’s typically only from the third album on that the general public is even aware of most of these bands, and that’s only due to major label and MTV interest, and by then, these bands aren’t not young and hungry any more and ergo, not worth listening to or getting one’s panties in a bunch about…in this case, yeah the Clash were interesting — like so many other bands, for about their first album or two.

One of a handful of albums I’d give a 10/10.
