I’ve actually fucking met someone like this - outright told me what their friend had done. Asked how I felt about it, like I was gonna reassure him, and I did the whole ‘yeah… now I’ve got TWO people I don’t wanna be around anymore’

In the decade+ I've been on Reddit this might legitimately be the most strawman argument I've ever seen. Holy smokes, take a bow, that is an Olympic level reach.

EDIT: not one of you has proven that accusing either person of owning or defending cp is proven. I will admit I didn't know about some of Kid Rocks grosser lyrics. I think they're gross and I agree with that. That still doesn't justify these accusations nor that anybody is defending them.

"Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage/ See, some say that’s statutory/ But I say it’s mandatory.”

What a reach...

Most people don't know he sang this...in a kids movie of all things. Mind boggling. But eminem doesn't care  that's his friend they can still make music together regardless of their beliefs on the age of consent (that's just politics)

I genuinely wanna know WHY. Like wtf did he mean by that? Was he trying to be funny? Subversive? Was it a prank?

Age of consent is now "politics"? It's the fucking LAW, you ass.

Yeah for real.

I'm surprised Eminem, with his historically culturally sensitive and socially enlightened music, would lower himself to hang out with a guy with those types of lyrics smh

The strawman example the original commenter used is something I’ve actually witnessed irl. Friend brought along a dude to a night out, pulled everyone aside, and was like ‘be nice, this guy got busted for rape and he’s trying to integrate himself..’ I immediately wtfed out of there, then on the way out I saw the other people he’d brought all leaving almost in a queue

Fair, just pointing out the irony of expecting Eminem to cold shoulder Kid Rock because of his lyrics when Eminem's own past lyrics are themselves less than family friendly to say the least.

Like they can just say it's because of his atrocious politics, there's no point in clutching pearls at Kid Rock's lyrics especially when expecting Eminem of all people to be appalled.

Edit: lol apparently people need examples:

  • "Slap dips, support domestic violence Beat your bitch’s ass while your kids stare in silence" - Low Down, Dirty
  • "Went to gym in 8th grade, raped the women’s swim team Don’t take me for a joke, I’m no comedian" - Just Don't Give a Fuck
  • "My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge that’ll stab you in the head, whether you’re a f– or lez or a homosex, hermaph or a trans-a-vest. Pants or dress, hate f–s? The answer’s yes. Homophobic? Nah, you’re just heterophobic. Staring at my jeans, watching my genitals bulgin" - Criminal
  • Like the entirety of the song "Kim"
  • "Hilary Duff is not quite old enough / So I ain't never seen a butt like that / Maybe next year I'll say ass and she'll make my pee pee go doing, doing, doing" - Ass Like That

Good thing he's a Liberal though, otherwise this could've been problematic.

Less depressing example of this was when I was out drinking with some random guy who was the last left. Back then, I had a drinking problem and thankfully don’t drink anymore, but he was buying drinks for me and I bought none back. Some people called me aside and said ‘hey, what are you doing with Killer?’ I was like what ‘yeah, that guy beat the crap out of people and one of them died as he hit his head, he just got out of jail’. I got the fuck out of there too and was curtain twitching all night. I thought he was gonna get me at work the next night, as that’s where I’d met him, then he came in. My whole stomach was in knots before he went over and said ‘hey, want another drink? I had a good one last night.’

I’ve literally seen this happen irl dude

Do you know what a strawman is?

Listen to any number of women (and men) who have been raped by a member of their family/family friend and you'll see it's not. People will stifle, defend, downplay, or even blame the victim for heinous acts as to not have to acknowledge or complicate their relation with the party that is genuinely guilty. This happens everywhere in the world, not just with someone getting raped or Eminem defending Kid Rock, and it's never justifiable.
