“A lot of people ask me stupid fuckin' questions
A lot of people think that what I say on record
Or what I talk about on a record
That I actually do in real life or that I believe in it
Or if I say that I wanna kill somebody, that
I'm actually gonna do it or that I believe in it
Well, shit, if you believe that, then I'll kill you
You know why?
When it is in text and not rapped to a beat, he sounds like every emo teenager I ever met in High School.
Ooooh nooo, your words are being assessed as your expression of self?! Whaaaat? Accountability be damned, I'll write a poem about how you can't pin me down by what I say or do!
“Shit, half the shit I say, I just make it up
To make you mad, so kiss my white naked ass”
You’re just mad that you can’t help but take the bait even after he explicitly states he’s playing a character. Do you get mad at movies, too, when the characters do something you don’t like?
Saying his work is hack is completely divorced from your original comment. Someone made a moral complaint about his actual actions (which, as a Stan, I even side with the moral complaint here), and you tried equating the portrayal of a character with something he did as himself.
This is like if someone called out Leo Dicaprio for dating such young women, then you came along and said “He acted in a movie as a slaver owner, and this is where you draw the line?”.
And that’s fine, that’s not what I’m addressing. I’m explicitly pointing out that you brought up a fictional portrayal in response to a moral complaint about the person behind the character.
Agreed but when he sings about terrible shit he also admits what a piece of shit he is in the same song. The fact that he has no self-awareness about this kid rock thing might be the most genuinely disturbing thing he’s ever revealed.

He wrote and performed songs fetishizing Domestic Violence, but this is where you draw the line?
