I mean if we’re completely ignoring politics in this hypothetical, then it would be silly to pretend Kid Rock hasn’t had some very popular songs.

Politics aside, meth is very popular. It would be silly to pretend like meth hasn't had some very devoted fans.

Philip K Dick in the HOUSE… hey, why are there only a dozen homeless people in here today? Where’s Tom?

Meth, your mom… lots of people use the same things.

Although most are short-lived

I'm from Australia and even kid rocks good songs, you know it comes from a shit musician. Just like any good DJ Khalid song, they're bangers but you know it's kinda a guilty pleasure cause the artist sucks

DJ Khaled has good songs? Every time I hear him shout his own name over someone singing, I change the song

He also doesn't even understand music. That clip of him trying to play the guitar (not even in tune 😂) is down right embarrassing

Lmao I haven’t seen it but that sounds right. He’s such a weird clown

i only know him from memes. did not actually think he was anything but comic relief persona.

Haha i bet i could guess both of yalls ages by these comments alone. Not specifically but ill bet my sack rn that youre likely near double their age, maybe late 30s and theyre maybe 20ish. Just based on music tastes alone and acceptance of the various generational douchebags. Everyone can handle their generations shitbags more cuz they can remember a time before the shitbaggery, versus learnin about one as a cunt immediately.

Lmao yep I’m 35. Some of Khaled’s songs would be fine if he would just shut the fuck up and let the singer sing. “ANOTHER ONE. WE DA BEST MUSIC” bruh shut uuuuup

Yeah I’m 27 and when I first heard All I Do Is Win on my ipod nano, I said it was the best song I’d ever heard.  Obv there’s annoying bits now but the production or something of that song was just different, truly a great rap song at the time

One thing I’ve heard is that he plays all his instruments. I remember saying it to a friend and he said something like ‘yeah, he PLAYS instruments in the same way you own a drum kit, piano, guitar, and bass.’ What a dick that friend was tbh

Haha i had a buddy like this, he inspired me to learn guitar cuz he said i would never be able to play cowboys from hell. He started a decade long addiction for me lol, shit was pretty fun while it lasted tho

People gotta just learn to separate the artist and the person (and the word "artist" is being used very liberally and subjective here). We gotta accept that some people can be considered great at what they do professionally (Michael Jordan, Steve Job, Kanye West, etc etc) but personally they've just gigantic assholes. Kindness and skills/abilities are completely unrelated.

But kid rock is both a shitty person and makes shitty meth head music.

25 years ago. He was popular 25 years ago. If it were 2000, you be saying John Denver has some very popular songs. How is he even relevant to the era? Lmao

u/JohnnyRelentless 3h ago

So? They're not responding to a comment about whether he has modern hits.

Ironically there were old musicians like that who technically got chart hits but only because lame parents had enough money to keep buying their hits. The actual popular songs were on the pirate radios and were too costly to reach the top position. It’s weird;

It’s like if I were an alien who came to Earth and thought everyone here liked Mr Beast and Despacito.

u/Volrund 1h ago

All of his popular songs were just sampling and rewriting lyrics to other popular songs.

He's basically a glorified cover artist.

Like every rapper ever?

So was Eminem? Nobody really gives a shit about either of these guys anymore.

•

I’m not a big fan of his music and his new music sucks but I mean if nobody really gave a shit about Eminem then he’d stop selling as much as he does

Kid Rock is an inspiration to me. He sucks ass, he’s a creep, he’s a loser, he’s a shitty person,.. yet there’s still people who adore him and defend him. That’s inspiring! He’s not going down easy!

Edit

Imagine actually saying this to him… ‘you’re an inspiration to me!’ ‘Oh thanks dude!’ ‘Yeah, you suck ass.. you’re a creep..’

Popular ≠ Good

•

u/BringBackBoshi 11m ago

He definitely has, he was all over the radio in the early 2000s but he's kind of like the Black Eyes Peas or Nickelback. They were extremely popular for a little while but in hindsight no one knows why. Quite a phenomenon.

u/DarkMatterM4 3h ago

Indeed. Politics is one thing, but let's not pretend Bawitdaba wasn't a smash hit and Kid Rock didn't get a Grammy Awards nomination in 2000.

•

u/captain_toenail 32m ago

So? Success does not denote quality, neither do Grammys, a lot of trash has been nominated for Grammys, hell, Milli Vanilli won three
