It's not just the internet. Having worked in the mental health field there are a ton of LGBTQ kids and adults who get disowned by their parents. Half of LGBTQ+ adults report being estranged from at least one family member and they are twice as likely to be estranged from a parent
And you don’t think you have a biased sample set? Those kids whose parents don’t do that aren’t going to come see you. And LGBTQ affiliation isn’t the only way children can be different. Plenty of different kids are accepted by their parents too, especially when we were originally talking about politics, not sexuality.
I did have a biased sample set, which is why I also provided you with figures from studies that back up that its way more common for LGBTQ+ people to experience that. And even in my biased sample set it was way more common for the LGBTQ+ patients to be having family issues than all the other patients at the facility.
Hi! My parents told me to my face they would mourn my death and I wasn't welcome back at the house in 2018 and then pretended I didn't exist for the last 8 years. Made it abundantly clear I was on my own while I went though homelessness because my landlord didn't renew my lease after I came out as trans.
Well, my father reached out through a third party very recently and wanted to know how I was doing. Do you think I should just pick up where we left off? He has never met my wife or even knows I'm married, let alone literally anything else about me. Because he told me flat out, to my face that he didn't want to know.
I’m sorry that’s happened to you but if we’re talking personal anecdotes then I have totally different beliefs to my father and we have a great relationship. And we are on Reddit where there exists a strong bias. So while I do sympathize with you and I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that experience, that doesn’t invalidate my point.

There’s also plenty of people who don’t you just never hear about it. It’s the internet, the loudest minority seems the largest majority
