Then Olivia wouldn’t even be in contention, lol

Then so be it. It's so annoying that successful artists are inflating numbers.

How are they inflating numbers if people want to buy and listen to the variants though?

Edit- why am I getting downvoted? I don't care about the down votes but just curious why.

Because they weren’t produced artistically for a reason. Their entire existence is to boost chart performance of the original song.

Weren’t produced artistically? What does that mean? Taylor recorded new vocals for both the piano and acoustic versions and then obviously changed up the instrumental too

Yes physically new audio was recorded, but not for artistic merit. Can anyone with more patience than I have explain this better?

For the sole purpose of boosting chart numbers.

So, let me get this straight, when Taylor records alternative versions it’s for the sole purpose of boosting chart numbers but when everyone else does it…?

It’s for the sole purpose of boosting chart numbers, yes.

Edit: For example I love Tame Impala and I can easily say that the Dracula Remix feat. Jennie was for the sole purpose of boosting chart numbers.

Idk why this is hard for Swifties to understand lol it’s the entire industry and Taylor does it more than others.

It’s not hard to understand, you actually misunderstood my comment. Most everyone popular engages in the same industry practices yet only one person gets villainized for said practices (ad nauseum)

Yes, because Taylor is accused of not just boosting chart numbers, but also intentionally blocking other artists (particularly female artists) on the charts given how many variants she drops and the timing of those drops.

It’s the hypocrisy that puts a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. She says she a feminist, a girls best friend, wants to be on the “right side of history” yet she purposely blocks only female artists.

She’s the most successful artist on the planet with the largest and most cult-esque following. It seems sensible that the most (not all as you suggest) ire is going to be directed toward the person who has capitalized the most on these practices, and who does so with the most egregiously and heinously. You treat her as though she’s some niche underground act being targeted arbitrarily with a career barely clinging to life with each performance, and not the most ubiquitous name in the music industry.

Do other artists release piano and acoustic versions of a single from a special edition album?

4

u/adnansbae95 7h ago

Yeah, they do? lol everyone does. Maybe not piano and acoustic but multiple versions of a single abosolutely

Just because it doesn’t meet your artistic standards doesn’t mean it’s not art.
