Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Any song like this one : Deep Purple - Child in Time ?

I'm obsessed with this song (before the solo music part to be honest) and I can't find any song that sounds like this.

I'm already listening to post-rock genre, and the closest song that I found is from Supertramp "Crime of the Century", the structure is alike, but I don't find the vibe in it.

For exemple, Cigarettes After Sex has a looot of songs that sound the same between them (same chords progression ?).

Do you know any song that really sounds like this one?

I'm thinking of music such as noah kahan or laufey. I have been trying really hard to get over my driving anxiety and I think if I have new albums to listen to while I drive I will have something to look forward to + I'll get to branch out from the typical music I listen to :) I'd appreciate any suggestions!

If the link doesn't work, the song is "Another Star" by Stevie Wonder. I haven't been able to find other songs by him that sound as funky as this, and I love how it sounds. Doesn't have to be from the same artist, would just love more of this genre.

Rec.Me: alt/indie/obscure Albums with an explosive closing track that is the very definition of catharsis, almost like the last song on the record is informed by all the songs before it?

My only two examples:

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning by Bright Eyes (Road to Joy)

Ants From Up There by Black Country New Road (Basketball Shoes)

This is very specific, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other albums like this. Not necessarily a "concept" album, but definitely one that is consistent and cohesive in its theming. My two examples both do the same thing, where the very last song is like a purge of all the sadness and self loathing and anger that came before it. It's the album equivalent of having an emotional breakdown, screaming as loud as you can into your pillow, then getting back up and saying, "Okay ...yeah, I'm good now", and moving on. Like a massive build up with a very rewarding payoff. I'm thinking an album where you almost need the context of the whole record for the last song to make sense, or at least to be as enjoyable.

Obviously these are both indie-leaning bands with a verbose and tortured lead singers who writes emotionally charged lyrics. So in that way they're very similar. BUT it can be of any genre. Mainly looking for album recs, not just closing tracks. TYIA.

I'm looking for music with such a noir atmosphere so to speak... not easy to find. Specific type of jazz comes to mind when you imagine some detective walking on the rough streets in the night... idk. I'm not knowledgeable about jazz, so i can't quite tell you what I mean... Would apreciate your recs thanks

Rec.Me: theme/mood/other specifics Songs that break the fourth wall

Wondering what other songs draw attention to the process of songwriting, or “break the fourth wall,” so to speak. The best example I can think of that fits this description is Blues Traveler’s “Hook,” which, in addition to the chorus, gives us the line “when I’m feeling stuck and need a buck, I don’t rely on luck.” Any other songs similar to Hook you can think of?

Rec.Me: rock/metal/punk Albums that you could listen to on repeat that has a screamer?

Hi! I’ve recently discovered Wind Walkers and I absolutely love their “What If I Break?” Album. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole trying to find other bands that sound similar. After listening to 20+ bands I have found some artists that are similar but they only have 1 or 2 songs I really love. I have gotten to a point I guess you could call music exhaustion where I just don’t want to listen to anything new.. But I’m willing to give it another shot with hopefully your alls help! :) Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! <3

Notable songs from the album that I love:
1. Bodybag
2. Losing My Color
3. Dead Talk

Other notable songs I love from them:
1. Sink into me
2. Funeral Balloons
3. The Feeling
4. Here at the End of All Things

I’m very picky with music and I hate almost everything. 😭
Thinks I look for in music:
1. Music and vocals that complement each other.
2. Vocalist with range.
3. Volume balance.. Vocals that aren’t drowned out by the music and other way around..
4. Screamer in a supporting role.
5. Screamers that can sing the lyrics clearly.

Things I hate:
1. Screaming that requires me to look up lyrics.
2. Artists that have a “signature” sound and all of their songs sound the same with only a slight variation in key parts of song and different lyrics.

Other bands I love.
1. Hawthorne Heights (Only their first 2 albums… 😭)
2. Marianas Trench
3. Sleep Theory
4. Fall Out Boy
5. My Chemical Romance

Bonus points:
1. Clever and catchy lyrics.
2. Odd instruments such as saxophone.
3. Female vocalist with range with screamer.
4. Specific songs from an artist that sound like the songs I love but different.

Thank you all for reading!! I know it’s a huge wall of text. Hopefully I didn’t lose all the musically gifted gods on here but I wanted to be as specific as possible to help. :)
